Since yesterday I haven't been able to launch the built in battery manager in Android to check on the usage. Every time I launch it it force closes itself. Has anyone had this issue and been able to resolve it? Running Fresh Rom 3.3.0.1 with stock kernel

I'm getting an error in the battery manager in 2.2.I get that new battery icon in the battery manager. When I click on it, I get an error saying "process com.android.settings has stopped unexpectedly."Anyone else have this issue (I know some people said it does work) or have any ideas what I might be able to look at to fix this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got an HTC Desire through O2 in the UK as an upgrade to my old SE P1i. Happy with it so far, still going through it trying to turn off and disable loads of stuff though. Here's some initial questions:
1) I got the Force Close Button program from the marketplace. Should I be using that to close programs to save battery life?
Or should I just leave everything running in the background? Camera, web browser, email, calendar and whatever else I've ever used since I last cycled the power.
2) Is there a particular Task Manager program I should look at? I've got ES File Manager and notice they do a Task Manager as well but didn't know if there's any others that people recommend.
3) Is there a way to disable the SMS threaded/conversation view in the stock SMS program?
4) And to supress the deletion prompt in SMS?...........
The ApplicationManager is killing the process of my application when the user presses on "FORCE STOP" on the Aplication Manager.According to the documentation a broadcast action is.The user has restarted a package, and all of its processes have been killed. All runtime state associated with it (processes, alarms, notifications, etc) should be removed. *Note that the restarted package does not receive this broadcast.* The data contains the name of the package.How can I listen that action in my application; I have tried creating a BroadcastReceiver on my package, but the onReceive() is not called.

Is there task manager? I come from the Windows Mobile world, and, as archaic as the OS was, it was very easy to bring up the task manager, just like in the Desktop Windows OS, and close any or all apps to reclaim memory and speed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is my first post but have been reading the forum since I got my desire 3 weeks ago.... love it so far, but I have just come across a problem, When I go into settings followed by "manage applications" I get an error that a process has failed, and then I can only quit using the force close button. I have tried restarting the phone and no new apps have been put on recently. Does anyone know what I can do to be able use the app manager again?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for something that will close apps (and the commands that make them relaunch) in an automatic way (i.e every time the said app is beign activated).
I need something non root ( the apps being closed are not an internal part of the rom), preferably free, and that is trustworthy (security wise).
Since I've been using the cm 10 and 10.1 based roms (4.1.x and 4.2.x, respectively) I've noticed the DSP Manager or Awesome beats audio effects randomly stop effecting the sound. It was noted here:

That pausing and playing the audio player will re-enable the EQ effects. I normally use Google Music on the HTC Rezound running a variant of CM10.1 (4.2.2) but others have stated other devices and are doing this as well.
I just played with it by force closing the DSP manager process while listening to music. This did not in and of itself stop the EQ effects. Once I reopened the DSP manager app and again stop/start or pause played the effect was re enabled. Simply restarting the DSP manager app did not re enable the effect.
I hate the fact that when i use my camera, or camcorder and send an mms or simply save a picture, that it goes back to the camera. I hit the back button, home button, etc. and of course the camera goes away. I know the OS knows that the camera is in the background now, not utilizing CPU, therefore not using up MAH, but I'm OCD about it running, not sure why. The only 2 apps i kill when i'm done are google maps, and camera. I just dont want them running in the background even though they dont have "focus" and will not be drawing any power. There are some apps that come with an exit button, which is fine with me, even though it doesn't actually close the app, and i only use ATK when something is funky on the phone and not giving me what i want, but are you guys the same way as me, or am i the only one that force kills some of the more batt. draining apps ?
View 40 Replies View RelatedSince receiving the 2.1 OTA it seems that the camera is not closing properly after exiting. I first noticed this after I received the OTA update and just assumed I needed to do a factory reset, which i did yesterday.I checked it again this morning, took a pic, waited an hour and a half, and voila it's still eating battery at a prodigious rate as compared to other apps and systems currently consuming battery. The only thing I've found that works to date is rebooting the phone.Any ideas? anyone else experiencing this? My 1.5 ran beautifully and 2.1 is too, (I'm in the Frisco camp) with the exception of this camera glitch.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI've had my Fascinate for a week and am having some trouble - actually, lots of trouble with it. Any suggestions are welcome:
1. At night I close out all running programs except Zeam - which I'm using as a home replacement since LauncherPro doesn't play nicely with the Fascinate (too much lag). When I close down I have about 90% left on my battery, in the morning, the phone is dead, battery drained. I typically wake up to about 5 emails and no other notifications so it's not processing a ton of incoming data. I can plug it in at night, but the standby time is supposed to be 312 hours. Am I doing something wrong?
2. I can't get the camera app to close. I sometimes have to pull the battery in order to get it to close. I try hitting the home key and get no response, the back key yields nothing, and the power key won't turn it off. The camera remains functional as I try each of these keys. Even after hitting the power key I can immediately take a picture.
3. GPS won't get a lock. I know this is a known problem, but is it a problem on every device, or is it hit and miss?
I really love the Fascinate's form factor and gorgeous screen, but I'm struggling with whether or not to trade for the Droid X before my 30 days are up. The home key lights, lack of text editing assistance (via trackball, trackpad, or on screen software), lack of LED notification light, GPS issues, and lag are making me lean towards the X. I had an X when they first came out and I never quite got used to the size of it. It never felt comfortable in my hand. But the phone itself worked great. I'd prefer not to have to root my phone to get it to work properly.
Anyone ever try wiping their battery stats using Rom Manager? I read a few post about this on another forum and was wondering if worked? I seem to be having a problem with my Ally - I let it run until it shuts off and when I plug it into my charger, the stat says it has between 3% and 5% still left.

Photoshop.com mobile - on a folder, can this be ended when not used?
YouTube - widget used
I'm not using an app to end these, just the Settings/Applications/Manage applications.
To find this, long press on the home button and then press the summary tab. There is a battery monitor at the bottom. Not sure how it works.

Not running launcher pro or anything else like that. Battery pull doesn't fix it either. I'm going to have to side with those that say Froyo is buggy.

My phone died on me due to the awesome battery life of the hero, upon recharging it and turning it back on as soon as it starts to boot up it gives me the HTC sense force close error and won't let me go any farther. That's all it will do, I've tried turning it off and pulling the battery but to no avail.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOk, I have had a Motorola Droid since they released the phone and my battery has been great. I could charge it overnight and take it off the charger around 6:30 am and when I put it back on the charger around 9 - 10 pm at night I would still have anywhere from 50% to higher battery life and this is after very heavy usage.
Beginning a few days ago I noticed that my Droid battery indicator is showing almost completely drained out by 6 pm and I really used my phone lightly yesterday and today. Today and yesterday both, the red LED was blinking and the battery indicator was showing almost completely dead by 6 pm. I pulled up the battery usage on the phone and it is showing the 'browser' as the biggest battery hog for some reason. Today it was showing 81% of the battery usage was from the browser. I hardly, if at all, used the browser today. I also checked the firmware version and it is showing 2.0.1, which I never updated it myself.
Are there any suggestions about why the browser would be draining the battery down so bad, when the browser has not even been used? Is there a way to close out the browser so it doesn't continue sucking the battery dry, besides using an app killer program?I did search the forum and did not see a specific question/answer to my question. I know I had read that some people were seeing battery issues after upgrading to 2.0.1, but I did not upgrade my phone, it must have done it.
Have a brand new HTC One X+ (AT&T). Having an issue where after boot and sometimes all of the sudden during the day, the phone gets hot and battery level drops l like ton of bricks. Using Android Task Manager App and enabling monitor of system processes and selecting realtime monitor, I've traced the problems to "android.process.media". This appears to be something to do with Android scanning the device for media files (audio/video/etc) and creating some sort of database. I also usually see the "Music Enhancer" process which has to do with Beats Audio according to HTC (but I have Beats turned off.)
I've seen old threads of people with same problem and in some cases it had to do with a "corrupted" media file and they had to remove all media files and/or factory reset their device. I just spent an entire weekend customizing this device! Plus, how the heck do you prevent yourself from copying the corrupted file over if it was a corrupted mp3 or something?
I'm pretty sure my issue stems from the fact I used my media manager (Media Monkey) to sync over 2,800 audio files to the device. My collection is of high bitrate quality, about 16GB worth of music. I'm pretty sure this is what it is choking on. What I'm not sure of is if the Media Scan the Android device is performing is just a "normal check" for changes/addition/deletions to any of the media files. This of course would take a lot of time and CPU if it has to scan 2,800 files every reboot or periodically. It seems launching Google Play sometimes starts it too as I also sometimes see Google Play Service:Music or something like that (even though I don't stream any of my audio from Google Play.)
Many of us have experienced some battery life fall out since the last update. I mentioned this in the battery life thread but I thought it deserved it own topic. I have an app that I downloaded called battery status. it has a battery history. and it says time without sleeping 7h 10m 25s ago. Thats exactally when I unplugged my phone. This explains why I am seeing 2-3% per hour loss while not using the phone and while in airplane mode. Before the update I could keep the phone in airplane mode, not usre it, and leave work with over 94% battery life. So this proves that somehow the phone is not going into sleep mode... I can guarantee that everyone else in that is experiencing battery drain since the sept 16th update is due to this reason. The question is... why the hell is this happening and why won't the phone go into sleep mode?

I've noticed that the standard icon does a really poor job tracking the actual battery percentage. For example, the percentage will show 35%, but the icon will still appear two-thirds green.

I plug my phone in overnight and at some point in the middle of the night an error occurs that make the phone think it is off the charger and has a fully depleted battery. The battery level icon shows no charge and if I pull the phone off the charger it immediately says it has to shut down due to a low battery. However, as soon as I turn it back on it is back to normal with a full charge.
