HTC EVO 4G :: 4G Available At USC And Surrounding Area

Jul 23, 2010

I took my kids to the California Science Museum next to USC and the Coliseum stadium.I got great 4G service both outside and inside the museum with my EVO. I was impressed with the great download speed. I also was impressed because I know other people were having trouble getting reception with their IPhones (3G and 3Gs) inside the first floor cafe.I hope they will be able to roll out 4G service city wide soon Surfing the web and watching Sprint TV was pretty cool.

Motorola Milestone :: Scratch To Case Surrounding Glass

Feb 24, 2010

I know there are a lot of stories about how tough the glass is and how its pretty much impossible to scratch shame the same does not apply to the actual case.I got an extended life battery for the phone over the weekend and have not had it in any case since then and yesterday i noticed a scratch to the "screen surround". It is on the lip which surrounds the screen and is quite noticeable, it appears the surround is not actually plastic but anodized aluminum as the scratch shines when it catches the light.Has anyone else managed to scratch the surround to the screen (and noticed how easy this is to do)Is there anyway of "repairing" a scratch to aluminum as it seems a shame to have to see this every day on what is a lovely looking phone.

HTC EVO 4G :: Roaming Coverage Area

Jun 25, 2010

The same thing happened on my Hero, so it's Sprint related. I rarely leave my house. When I do, I'm never more than 3 miles from home. My entire surrounding area is in Sprints coverage area. Ninety-eight percent of the time I'm steadily on the 3G. Every now and then though, while still at home, my phone changes over to roaming for no rhyme or reason! I know Sprint won't throw a hissy fit over the calls and data (unless over the 300mb), but why is my phone doing this? I just checked my account and it says I've used 7760kb of data while roaming.

HTC EVO 4G :: Sprint Bad Coverage Area

Apr 21, 2010

I think the Sprint coverage in my area might suck sweaty donkey balls. I really wanted to go with Sprint b/c of the EVO, my husband gets a really good discount with them through his work (22% of monthly bill and 25% off accessories), and I don't need to possibly strap a mattress on my back to pay the damn bill. I think? AT&T and Verizon have much better coverage here, and you also get a hefty bill for all that coverage. He does also get a good discount with AT&T as well but they make it so you have so sign your first born over with what they charge.

Android :: Need Detecting Area Code

Oct 20, 2010

I'm trying to find out if the user is still within range of his own area code. Detecting roaming doesn't solve the problem since the user may still be in the same network with a different area code. I thought about getting the user's coarse location to find the city he's is in but this approach needs Internet access and might not be fast enough (this is done as the user is making a call and needs to finish before the call is made). Is there any way I can do this with just the info from the cellular network?

Android :: HTC Evo / Where Ad In Graffiti Input Area Is Coming From?

Nov 24, 2010

I have HTC Evo and installed Graffiti some time ago with no problems. Yesterday I did an update of several apps including Graffiti, which required a manual update to a new version. Ever since the updates were completed, I have an ad show up in the text input area. This shows when I'm either doing a google search, text message, etc. It's always an ad for Netfront Life Browser (which I don't have installed). It's really irritating because I have to tap the ad to make it disappear which makes Graffiti think I'm hitting the screen to input punctuation. So I have to tap it again to remove punctuation mode before I can enter text. The ad also will pop up in the middle of inputting the Graffiti text. I'm not sure if the updated Graffiti is forcing the ads in, or if it's another app that is causing it. Any ideas on how to fix this? I hate to lose Graffiti but something has to give - it's now much slower to use Graffiti than regular keyboard.

HTC Legend :: Notification Area Swipedown Not Working

Aug 19, 2010

I had reception issues on my Legend so vodafone sent me a new (well, pre-owned/refurbished) one today. I haven't had it long enough to test the reception issues but I am unable to bring the notification area at the top of the screen down by swiping my finger. I can click 'menu>notifications' from the homescreen and that brings it up but I can't swipe it down - most odd. Although I have seen it come down about 30 seconds after I swipe it on occasion. This was the case with the old firmware and still is with the new. I've done soft and hard resets and it's still the case. Everything else on the phone works perfectly as far as I can see.
