I'm monitoring another page right now and things look like we might have root access tonight. they've got things moving back and forth on the phone now it's just getting a custom recovery onto the phone and we're in. i will update when things look really reallly good.

I finally got 2.01 back onto my phone. It took a new version of RSD lite running as an admin to get it to work.. Now, I want to root this bad boy and install bugbless beast, where can I read up on how to install custom roms?

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo i found this link from theunlockr.com which shows you how to root your eris and put 2.1 on it. I want 2.1 but i am not sure about the root. Any cons to rooting? Will i still receive ota updates? Anything i can do with rooted eris that i can't do with non-rooted that would make the phone a lot better? I don't want to overclock it i am just looking for more options with the phone. Will i lose all my contacts and apps by doing this? Can i use different apps like the ones the moto droid can use but i can't because i am on 1.5?

Get this window during update driver step:
Cannot Continue the Hardware Update Wizard

I haven't been able to finish the steps and get ROOT to work.
adb shell commands give me "can't find device"
And keep up the awsome work. the original phone I loaded 2.1 leak v.3. Loved it! Replaced/ warranty exchanged due to poor call reception and echo-ing on the other end.
I recently rooted my droid eris and installed the sense-able2.0 custom rom. I was just wondering if I could delete the zip files out of the root directory after they are installed?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that the green 'online' status indicator in Talk doesn't update on my phone when someone signs off, it stays green for them. They show as offline on my PC but continue to show online on the Droid. If I sign out and back in to Talk on the phone it will update their status, but otherwise not. I've tried closing chat but that doesn't seem to work, I don't see anything in settings that would affect it either. Any ideas?
I'm the only one using Android, my other contacts are all using Talk online (not with a phone) if that makes a difference.
Is there a Twitter/Facebook widget (social networking/statuses) to update statuses? I had one on my DroidX but can't seem to find/figure it out on here.

When I set up an event for the same day the eris will alert me and put a calendar in my status bar. But if I set up an event for the next day it will alert me but no calendar in the status bar. Why is this? What am I doing wrong?

View 7 Replies View RelatedThe only way i can get the GPS status bar icon to not be there is to restart the phone. I can kill all running apps, kill all running services, and put it in airplane mode and it continues to sit there and blink the little green lines for hours.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a lot of contacts that are synced with their Facebook profiles and I really like the integration with the phone, especially in the 'People' app.
But I'm confused about how the notifications work. I get periodic notifications about updates from certain people, but when I click this notification it takes me to the People app's group tab, but none of the people who were in the notification show up here as having updates. It's usually just different peoples' birthdays or updates.
I tried refreshing the list here, but it still doesn't pull up any new people usually.
I know this comes in some ROMs and maybe some themes, anyone seen a stand alone option for people in root to add this ability in the MENU bar, not the task bar?
View 37 Replies View Relatedyes, it is . I charged it up Sunday night. Monday evening I still had over 60%. Monday night I did not plug it in, I tuned off 3G though. This morning the battery status still showed ~60%. So what did I do (or what did I NOT do)?
(1) I did not do the battery discharge-recharge thingy. BTW, if you really *fully* discharge a Li-ion battery you will kill it.
(2) I did not download any task killer/manager. This is supposed to be a smart phone to kill things when needed.
(3) I do not use the Home button at all. I always use the back button. my awake time is about 10%
(4) I do autosync, but my WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS is off.
I admit I am not a heavy user, though I have used up about 50 Mb data in 2 days. Peter
Is there a way that I can get my contacts' face book pictures and status' to update without having to receive face book notifications on my phone? I turned off the face book notifications because they were annoying. But when I did that, the pictures and statuses never refresh. I just want them to refresh, but I don't want the notifications to be sent to me all day.

View 8 Replies View RelatedHey everybody, I've looked for an answer on here, but to no avail. I tried to root my replacement Eris with 1.5, and HBOOT 1.47. Everything was going well until it got to the point of making a recovery, which for some reason, my phone wouldn't let me do. Infuriated and frustrated, I followed the steps to go back to 1.5 to a tee. However, I miss Vlingo so much, and i went to install the OTA 2.1, and it aborted the installation. I now have HBOOT 1.49.2000, so does my phone basically think I have the 2.1v3 leak, or am I just flat-out screwed? Done multiple factory resets, etc. and they haven't helped either

In our alltel contract, all my family lines get unlimited data for $40 a month. My parents are looking to upgrade their regular phones (for free) and I was going to recommend the eris (from amazon) to them. I have heard some talk of not having very good signal and mention of some bugs and want to know how much truth there is behind these (especially signal) or if they were lemons, etc. if it matters all my parents would do is call/text (obviously), email sync, and maybe browse the web every once in a while. Bugs with, say face book, wouldn't matter.

Sorry, I had my noob goggles on this morning and accidentally applied the OTA update after I did the baseband update so now I've lost root. I know, I know... that update file should never have been on my sd card to start with.
I did a backup with ROMmanager prior to these updates, but can't do anything with it now. Just need to root again so life can continue.
Is it true that after the 2.1 update that you will not be able to root?
