While following the instructions posted, Step II-10.
Have yellow exclamation in Device Manager,
Get this window during update driver step:
Cannot Continue the Hardware Update Wizard
The wizard could not find a better match for your hardware than the software you currently have installed.
I do have usb_driver folder:

I haven't been able to finish the steps and get ROOT to work.
adb shell commands give me "can't find device"
And keep up the awsome work. the original phone I loaded 2.1 leak v.3. Loved it! Replaced/ warranty exchanged due to poor call reception and echo-ing on the other end.

May 31, 2010Hi, I'm trying to root my Eris and when I go to devive msnaget and browse to usb driver, than try and install and it won't, I'm in windows viesta so tried HTC sync and it wouldnt even reconize my phone, I'm doing everything sticky says on charge inly and dubugging on, pleasr any help will be really appreciated,thanks

Apr 14, 2010So i found this link from theunlockr.com which shows you how to root your eris and put 2.1 on it. I want 2.1 but i am not sure about the root. Any cons to rooting? Will i still receive ota updates? Anything i can do with rooted eris that i can't do with non-rooted that would make the phone a lot better? I don't want to overclock it i am just looking for more options with the phone. Will i lose all my contacts and apps by doing this? Can i use different apps like the ones the moto droid can use but i can't because i am on 1.5?

Jun 25, 2010I rooted my evo a couple of weeks ago and its been pretty great, but I'm noticing an issue with my messaging app. Its only in the messaging app that the phone does this, but it wont scroll up in my messaging threads. I scroll up, it will stay there for a second, then it will jump all the way back to the bottom. I just noticed this today. It does not do this when I'm outside of message threads, nor does it do this when I'm browsing the internet.
Anyway, I was thinking maybe the root and the 1.32.653.1 rom were the problem. So I was looking to either update to the 653.6 while in root, or to undo my root and update to the 653.6 and use the unrevoked method, which seems to be doing all the things that I want my rooted phone to do (manage the overclocking settings in order to conserve battery life).

Jun 23, 2010Hey everybody, I've looked for an answer on here, but to no avail. I tried to root my replacement Eris with 1.5, and HBOOT 1.47. Everything was going well until it got to the point of making a recovery, which for some reason, my phone wouldn't let me do. Infuriated and frustrated, I followed the steps to go back to 1.5 to a tee. However, I miss Vlingo so much, and i went to install the OTA 2.1, and it aborted the installation. I now have HBOOT 1.49.2000, so does my phone basically think I have the 2.1v3 leak, or am I just flat-out screwed? Done multiple factory resets, etc. and they haven't helped either

Apr 20, 2010In our alltel contract, all my family lines get unlimited data for $40 a month. My parents are looking to upgrade their regular phones (for free) and I was going to recommend the eris (from amazon) to them. I have heard some talk of not having very good signal and mention of some bugs and want to know how much truth there is behind these (especially signal) or if they were lemons, etc. if it matters all my parents would do is call/text (obviously), email sync, and maybe browse the web every once in a while. Bugs with, say face book, wouldn't matter.

1. Having received the official evo update (2.1?) to my phone ~2-3 weeks ago, can I still unroot my phone?
2. It seems that there are multiple avenues to unrooting the evo. Is one way superior to the others, or at least more easily performed?
3. For those who unrooted their phones already, name the three features you most enjoy now that your phone is unrooted.
4. Any regrets about unrooting your phone?
5. I understand that some people bricked their phones when they tried to update their unrooted phones. Were these phones truly rendered useless, or is there a way to reverse the process?

Sep 21, 2010I just rooted earlier this week with unrEVOked. If I unroot and take tomorrow's OTA software update to 3.29.651.5 will I be able to root right away, or will I have to wait for a "root update"? I'm really interested in 30 fps uncapped (and I love my wireless tether).

Aug 28, 2010So I rooted my Incredible last week, played around with CM6, then ended up using my nandroid backup to restore the phone. Everything worked like normal. Yesterday I decided to use the unrevoked forever tool and update my radio to 2.15 and play around with the leaked OTA ROM. Again I restored a nandroid backup to get things back to normal. Now my phone is getting the 2.2 update from Verizon, but when I tell it to install, it starts as normal, but ends up with an error screen with the green android, and a yellow triangle with an exclamation point. From this screen if I push Power I am in ClockworkMod Recovery and able to reboot my phone. Once I reboot my phone I am still running 2.1, and System Updates tells me my phone is up to date.
