Can anyone help me out..ive been wanting to throw my phone like that. Other guy..lol..anyways...my phone and pdanet connect online and to my pc..but wen i open my browser it wont connect to my connection...it shows 2.4mbs etc..

My understanding is that this is adequate to keep my traffic from being sniffed by DroidSheep (Android), FireSheep (Windows), or other packet sniffers.

Is the Tasker app the best way to do this?
- if yes: how do I trigger the launch of the SSHTunnel when the trigger event (connection to unsecured wifi network) occurs?
- if no: what is a better way?
Note: I did a search for SSH (link HERE) and did not see anything covering this.
This is probably a very simple thing to do, I just haven't figured out how to do it. How do I enter a specific url once my browser is already open? I only know how to search from that point on...
This is using the default browser. I want to try the dolphin browser, but have yet to do so.
Has any one had any troubles with PdaNet this weekend ? I have been loosing connection like crazy today on my laptop . It seems to just drop like every other 1 hour or so .Been like this that last few days . Any ideas from any one ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedII am always having problems with pdanet and my fascinate. It works sporadically. When it does work it works great but most of the time especially at night i get usb connection dropped. It will for for a few sec then disconnect then reconnect. Is there a fix for this? Think it disconnected about 16 times trying to type this message. I could really use a fix as this is the only internet I currently have.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBefore the update from 1.5, I had no issues tethering my MacBook through my Droid Eris with PDANet. The phone function of the handset was the only operation that would interrupt the signal.
Since the update, my Eris interrupts my internet frequently, without apparent reason. It begins the annoying cycle of kicking me off the web, alerting me that the phone was not ejected properly, mounting, launching iPhoto (which I cannot prevent from happening), and then I have to exit PDANet and relaunch so I can reconnect. It's a juggling act! Sometimes this cycle will repeat five or six times before the phone and computer settle down.
Does anyone have the leaked 2.1 rom and the PAID version of PDAnet working. I know that the app store does not have the paid apps available in it for the leaked version yet. I use PDAnet for internet for my netbook all the time for my business and need to know if it is still available and working on the leaked rom. Also is bluetooth tethering working now that it is 2.1?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI keep getting errors on my pdanet it use to work fine..since upgrading it..i keep getting socket error and it disconnects and then have to reconnect..which is as often as every 2 minutes...then it gave me an htc sync error ...on the websites help it wants me to uninstall htc sync...uhh thats really the part of the phone..it is the phone..isnt it? and where the flip do i uninstall..and do i even want to uninstall that...i tried other programs..cannot get nothing to work..or they wanted me to transfer this program here...that doesnt work...or i dont know how..or where exactly...i really want to get rid of this stupid verizon wireless card..i pay far to much for limited usage and crappy service...but i cant do that until this tethering works..

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have PDANet app on my phone, and I have PDANet installed on the laptop also. My PDAnet on my laptop keeps telling me to make sure USB debugging is enabled on my vibrant, which it is. It keeps telling me that over and over, it won't connect. I think the problem is drivers, not USB debugging. The strange thing is, since I got my vibrant, I just plugged it into my 2 laptops, and it recognized fine, the SD cards on the phone were easy accessible.
Now I plug in vibrant into my computer, it finds the phone, shows the sd cards as f drive and g drive, but when I try to go to the SD card via USB connection, it is ghosted out, as if nothing is there. Something strange is going on. Maybe I need drivers, according to some sites, but it worked fine before without any drivers, it acted as universal plug and play. Got my laptop to mount and recognize the phone, but PDANet still doesn't seem to recognize the phone/drivers.
I'm able to get the computer to recognize the connection but I'm getting no interwebs connection?I think it may have something to do with the connection type thing.i.e. : Charge only, HTC Sync, Disk Drive.I've tried all of them with no success.Any thoughts?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have exchange set up on my Droid through the email program that comes with the phone.. Its been working fine until this weekend, really. 3 separate times, it's failed to load my inbox or sync new messages, and it pops up with the unable to open connection to server message.Ive quadruple checked all of my settings, removed my account, re-added my account, refreshed it, and still, it wont sync my inbox and it still shows that message. I even tried installing touchdown, and touchdown wouldnt sync my email either? I didnt like how it kept my contacts all separate from my gmail contacts, so I went ahead and uninstalled it. I REALLY just want to use the regular exchange email program..But get this, I am able to sync my sent mail though, and Im able to SEND email messages, just not receive them.
We have our own exchange server for our company, and we have 4 other people in our office running exchange on their phones, (2 Motorola Droids, 1 Droid X, and an HTC 6800...) Nobody else is having issues with their phones syncing their email so I know this isnt an exchange issue, but a phone issue instead.Ive run an update (just the *228) on my phone, reset it like 3 times, killed all the apps, and it still wont sync my inbox (just my sent mail..) And again, it'll send email but wont receive it.I know calling or going into a verizon store will be a waste of time.
"Unable to open connection to server." That's the message I'm getting from my Droid every time I try to set up a connection to my web hosts SMTP server using IMAP. The settings I put in the Droid work fine on my laptop and on my blackberry.
I've tries using ports 25, 1025, 465 and 587. I even tried 143 and 585. Anyone have any clue why this is happening? Anyone else having trouble with SMTP/IMAP connections to their email server? Right now I can't send emails from the Droid and that's a HUGE problem.
I just bought a droid eris today and I'm loving it so far, but I want to set it up so that when I open the browser it goes to the homepage that I've already set but instead it goes to the last page that I was on, is there anyway to change this?

So everyone LOVES dolphin hd...the verdict is out for me...it runs very slow and sluggish..doesn't always feel clicks, doesn't always open bookmarks, and doesn't always recognize text fields. Now by always i mean 95% of the time.
My phone itself is running slow lately period. Launcherpro is maggy, widget locker acts up, swype doesn't always give me the red search dot, and other fun problems.
I am rooted with 2.2. No themes.
I keep getting this notification saying "Connection detected: Select to open Media Share". What is this exactly? It doesn't appear to be the same thing as DLNA. I'm not sure if I should turn it off, or find out what it does so I can give it a try?

I can find my phone under devices but it has nothing listed under device function or bluetooth services. I was able to send my phone a file from my computer via bluetooth. My phone also says under bluetooth devices it's paired but not conectected to my computer. I'm running windows 7.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the HTC Droid Eris. Before the 2.1 update, I just had Facebook sync, but afterwards, it was synced with Facebook for HTC Sense. My problem is that it won't let me sync with just Facebook.I still want my contacts to sync with my phone, because I like the facebook pictures on there. Personally, I like Facebook sync better, because I don't like having all my Facebook contacts on my phone, because the numbers show up twice (number that I have on my phone plus the number that my friends have on Facebook).To prevent that from happening, I would rather have my phone connected to Facebook only and not Facebook for HTC Sense.I thought I could do it, but it won't let me even click on Facebook--like, nothing pops up or anything.I wasn't sure if it was my phone, so I took my dad's Eris and tried to do the same, it works fine on his phone, but I can't get mine to do sync with facebook whatsoever.
