HTC Droid Eris :: Way To "refresh" SD Card After Copying New Files To It?

Feb 3, 2010

Is there a way to "refresh" the SD card after copying new files to it? Scenario: I copied some new mp3s from my network drive over wifi, but when I go into the music player, the new mp3s don't show. I have to unmount and then mount the SD card or mount the phone as a USB drive on my laptop. It's not a killer, but it would be nice to be able to force a refresh rather than digging out my USB cable or popping the back cover off the phone every time I copy new music to the SD card.

Samsung Captivate :: Copying Music Files W/o A Memory Card

Aug 10, 2010

So I plugged my new Captivate into my PC (Windows 7 64-bit) and the Captivate says it's connected, but the PC shows no signs of it being connected. I called SAmsung support, and from what I could understand of what the "tech" told me, this is a bug, and there's no way for a PC to recognize the Captivate unless there's a memory card installed. is this correct? Once a 16GB memory card is installed, do you have 64-GB of storage space you can use for music, etc?

This seems like a mammoth problem - do they have any timeframe for a fix for this? Or is the "tech" incorrect? I can't believe I just bought a brand new "Smartphone" to replace my old mobile phone and MP3 player, and I can't copy files to it. Help!

Should Samsung Kies be selected as the USB setting? That's the default.

HTC Droid Eris : Deleted Whole SD Card / Get Those Files Back?

May 5, 2010

So as the title states, I'm an idiot and delted everything off of my SD card. The idiot part comes from me getting all gitty about the 2.1 v3 update, not thinking about the pictures and videos that I didn't back up (my music and ROMs already were backed up) and deleting my SD card purposely to get rid of all the old, unneccesary files and folders. Anyways, is there anyway to get these old files back? I've seen another post about a file recovery program but it wasn't very specific.

HTC Droid Eris :: Put Files In A Secure / Passwored Folder On SD Card?

Dec 8, 2009

I'm sure I'm not the only one with naughty pics of my girl friend or other girls on my phone that I don't want the girl friend, other girls, or friends and people in general to see...

Is there a way to put these files in a secure/passwored folder on the SD card that the "Albums" or any other video/pic app can't access? Besides keeping my phone locked, I don't want someone accidently flicking through the photo album and stumble upon these. Also I noticed even switching the Wallpaper shows all the pics on the phone.

I have an idea of an app called "Stash" where you can move any files (maybe even contacts/texts) to a particular place on the SD card that the phone can not find.

Nothing works. It is as if copying works for the first file (though not always), but then the phone resets the connection and I have to re-enable the connection. The USB drivers are from the CD. I have the latest firmware. Is there some trick to enable proper copying to and from the i7500? This is driving me nuts.

Android :: App For Copying Files From My Networked PC?

I'd like to be able to copy files from a PC on my wireless network, to my SD card, without having to connect my phone (HTC Hero) to my laptop via a cable.I've found Estrongs' ES File Explorer, but I can't manage to get the connection setup via the "add server" thing. No matter what settings I put in there, it just denies that the server exists. I've read the FAQs on their website, but I can't see anything to help. Are there any other apps or ways that I can use to copy files from my PC wirelessly?

General :: Copying Files From App On Android 4.1?

Dec 4, 2012

I'm developing an app that backs up and restores the saves of all Angry Birds Versions. For devices with Android 1.5 or higher I've written a simple input/output file stream, and it works.

On device with Android 4.1 or higher (due probably to the increased security) the Angry Birds saves require more permissions to be copied from my app (rwx isn't enough). Is there a way to change the permission adding root access in my app or is there a solution without adding root?

General :: Copying MKV Files To SD On Tablet Via Wire?

May 25, 2012

I have an Acer Iconia A500 tab, rooted. The problem is everytime I try to copy an MKV file to the SD inside my tab my windows crashes and restarts. I tried copying other files to the SD and it works like the charm, but when it comes to MKV files it crashes. Note I can copy large files into the SD just not MKV files This makes me mad for a good reason. I've tried and tried solutions, but seem to not come to a happy understanding.

P.S! I have ICS also I do not know why I can't mount my external HDD to the tab either.

HTC Droid Eris :: Don't Get Any Email At All Unless Refresh My Inbox

Dec 29, 2009

I am having some difficulties getting my emails. I have my Hotmail account linked to my phone. When I first got the phone, email came lickety split. I have downloaded 17 apps (or widgets, whichever you prefer). Now I don't get any email at all unless I refresh my inbox on my Eris. They have been up to a day old when I decide to try refreshing my inbox and, what do you know, they all pop up! My oh-so-famous "enable always-on mobile data" box is checked.

Is there any way to search for a program by typing in its name?

Media :: Can't Refresh SD Card - Old Playlists Always Remain

Jul 19, 2010

I'm having a really irritating problem with my Hero (running Android 2.1 / villainRom9.0.0)

When I sync playlists to the device using any app (SongBird, DoubleTwist, JRiver Jukebox, etc) It has no problem adding and playing the music, finding the new MP3s etc. However, all the old playlists remain on the device long after being deleted. This is very annoying, and makes it practically impossible to use as I could have 3-4 different versions of a playlist and only one works. I can manually delete all these old playlists but it takes time, and I want it to update automatically.

Things I've tried:
SDRescan: No effect.
MusicScanner: Locks up, no effect
using AndExplorer/LindaFilemanager to do an SD card refresh : No effect
Writing my own APK to run
sendBroadcast(new Intent(Intent.ACTION_MEDIA_MOUNTED, Uri.parse("file://" + Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory())));
... No Effect.
Turning off the phone and rebooting: No effect.

I'm going a little crazy here, I've tried everything sane and reasonable and nothing is working. All I can find online are instances where SDrescan worked for people or they did a factory reset.

HTC Droid Eris : Trying To Download Apk Files As Zip Files?

May 6, 2010

I'm trying to download the SMS app from XDA and the guy has it up as a zip file. I download it and extract it, and it's a folder with random crap in it. No apk.

Then I read that I just change the file name. I'm on a Mac, so I change the filename and it verifies if I want to change it from .zip to .apk and I say "yes." Put it on my card and Astro still doesn't recognize it. It's list, but it's an icon with a window and a gear in front of it.

I installed the Vanilla email app, no problem. Not sure what the deal is with this one.

Android :: Writing To SD Card - Deleting Files On It - Number Of Files Relevant

Mar 19, 2009

I wrote an app that downloads web sites and all their assets (images/stylesheets) to "disk" and therefore stores lots of small files on the SD card.

Sometimes it fails to delete large amounts of files and afterward the file system is r/o. To analyze that behavior I tried to do the removal of the files by hand and then go from there. But that already failed.

localhost:~ mkamp$ adb -d shell mount [.. some mounts ..] /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 /sdcard vfat rw,dirsync,nosuid,nodev,noexec,uid=1000,gid=1000,fmask=0711,dmask=0700,codepage=cp437,iocharset=iso8859-1,utf8 0 0 --> R/W

Last login: Wed Mar 18 19:41:49 on ttys005 localhost:~ mkamp$ adb -d shell rm /sdcard/newsrob/a* [.. minutes of silent deletes ..] rm failed for /sdcard/newsrob/a2aade03616c28b30_113.png, Read-only file system localhost:~ mkamp$

localhost:~ mkamp$ adb -d shell mount [.. some mounts ..] /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 /sdcard vfat ro,dirsync,nosuid,nodev,noexec,uid=1000,gid=1000,fmask=0711,dmask=0700,codepage=cp437,iocharset=iso8859-1,utf8 0 0 --> R/O now

The log contained nothing but the usual gc output and random WiFi status changed mumbo jumbo.

Anybody else seeing this behavior?

There were 6.500 files in that directory. Might that be the problem? I don't access the files with queries, I always have the exact name.

General :: Transferring Files BACK ONTO SD Card From PC (Note 3 Files)?

Mar 19, 2014

My Sandisc 64GB SD card went kaputt last week, it froze at 33GB, luckily the existing files are all ok and I was able to copy all the files onto my PC, however nothing new can be written to it. I've tried formatting with no success. So I copied the files onto the PC and just got a new this time Samsung 64GB micro SD card. Problem I'm having now is that on several attempts it's failed to copy the files back to my SD card (from PC) I've formatted the card in the Note 3..the music files about 4 GB transferred just fine, the problem seems to be with the Pix and Videos. I'm currently trying to copy the DCIM folder back onto the micro sd and it's saying it'll take 6 hours.

I have tried: copying from PC to micro SD in the phone via USB copying from PC to micro SD in SD card adapter plugged directly into PC

copying from PC to micro SD in USB adapter plugged into PC

all results the same
