Samsung I7500 :: Wifi Connection Lost After Screen Lock And Can't Regain Connection After Unlock
Sep 7, 2009If my screen locks while I have a wifi connection, then the connection is lost when I unlock the phone.First, is this perhaps deliberate, to save power? Also, either way, when I unlock the screen and go into wifi settings, I see that the phone is trying to make a wifi connection, but it never succeeds, even though it's my home network and I'm in the same room as the router. It just states 'Obtaining address.

Feb 23, 2010My Hero was connecting to my home WiFi perfectly (for about 5 weeks) - yesterday it stopped connecting, now just says CONNECTION UNSUCCESSFUL?OBTAINING IP ADDRESS.
I have not changed any of my router settings/phone settings, so this is strange. I have tried deleting link and re inputting key (this worked once, but now no longer works)
My router is on the recommended WPA-2 setting, and is regarded as a friendly router for the Hero (Netgear 834dg)

Oct 1, 2009I've a snazzy bluetooth thang in my car. On my old phone (TyTN II) and work phone (Nokia somethingorother), when you pair the phone, it uploads the phonebook so that it's browseable from the car kit.On the Sammy, all I see is a list of phone numbers, no names. Which is less than useful.

Dec 17, 2009I just bought my i7500 in the excitement that it has all the features that I need (except upgrade to 2.0 OS) but it seems that GPS chip doesn't work properly. From what I understand, GPS chip enables the phone to communicate with the GPS satellites and determine the location, without the need for data plan (EDGE, HSPA, or WiFi). However, on my galaxy, I have two apps (GPS Status, GPSTest) for GPS which suppose to show my location (long, lat) but I get nothing with these apps. How come? I have enabled the 'Enable GPS Satellites' and 'Use wireless networks' (even though this shouldn't be required) in Security and Location setting and still nothing. I see the little GPS icon the status bar at the top blinking but I believe it's suppose to stay there when it actually locates itself, which its clearly not doing. I have tried in various locations where the GPS signals are pretty good so I don't think reception is a problem. I have the i7500XXII4 baseband version.

-Yes, my phone recognizes the router.
-Yes, I have the correct key.
-Yes, I have reset my router and modem, no change.
-Yes, I have restarted my phone.
-Yes, my phone connects just fine to unsecured wireless routers.
-No, I cannot find another thread that has solved this issue.
Samsung Captivate :: Can't Obtain Wifi Address In Home / What To Fix?
Jul 18, 2010I've had wifi in my house for years. As I type these devices are connected: ps3, desktop, laptop, wife's iphone. Everything works fine. I walked in the house with my Captivate and it can't obtain an IP address. The password is right. It gets to "Obtaining IP address" but then it says "Unsuccessful." I have never ever had a device issue connecting to my wifi. Numerous family/friend phones have connected without a glitch. Any ideas?

Sep 9, 2010I have a Samsung i7500 (Galaxy).Originally, it had Android 1.5 installed, but I could not enter the Google Market with my google account and got this message: "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server".I read here and across the web I should Factory-reset my phone, but it did not work.So I upgraded the firmware to Android 2.1 using this guide: How to Mustymod It worked, and now the phone had Android 2.1 installed, but I still cannot access the Google Market with my Google account. This time I did a factory-reset (Settings -> Privacy -> Factory reset) and also followed this guide to delete the provider-settings (eventually I removed the whole /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/ directory and not only that file.

Sep 24, 2010I just bought a galaxy s (I9000) I connect to my home wireless gateway through the phone, enter the WPA key and it connects all fine. But then when I try to browse any webistes I get a 404 error and if I try syncing facebook or anything else I get an error saying the server could not be contacted. wireless works fine on my mum's laptop and the phone is showing up in the devices list of my router's interface.

Sep 12, 2009I just got an i7500 from France this morning. I like the phone but I didn't mean to bid so much on eBay... oh well, I've got it now!
Anyway, I am not able to use my wifi connection.
Major points as follows:
- I can turn wifi on, connect to my wireless network after being asked for the password (I've got WPA2 security set up on my router),
- I can open my web browser and type in the URL for my router web interface. This works, I can browse that web page.
- I can not connect to the internet, no URL's outside my wireless network work
- I don't have this trouble with any other devices on my network - my Eee PC and friends machines get to the internet without a problem.
- The i7500 I have is still locked to Bouygues telecom in France, and I don't have a SIM card in the mobile.
- Router is a Linksys WRT100
Do I need an active sim card to use wifi? (EDIT- answer = no)
Is there any way I can check what my gateway address is in Android? (EDIT - answer = can't check it, but can set a gateway when setting a static IP in Wifi setup.)

Sep 26, 2010Does anyone have any idea as to whether Froyo will address the wifi issues on the SGS?My wife's phone will not connect to any wifi hotspot unless she is virtually sitting on the router.At home it is ok as the router is in the same room, but she has tried to connect to many wifi hotspots in public places and she can never connect as the signal is so weak.Other people with iPhones, HTC etc connect with no problem, but hers will not do anything.Is this something that Froyo will address, or is it more a hardware issue with the SGS?

Sep 25, 2010I have the same issue with 2 separate Vibrants, actually 3 Vibrants counting the one I took back.I have problems connecting to either the market or internet across multiple browsers while WiFi is on.With both phones, it seems this problem is intermittent and across different brands of routers at different locations.
An example is when I try to enter the market.I sometimes will get to the market home page but when I try to pull up my downloads it comes back with an error message saying connection failed.Once I turn off WiFi it works perfect in 3G, or if I leave WiFi on, go back to the home page and then try just a minute later it connects without a problem.To make matters even worse, the problem persists while using apps that connect to the internet such as The Weather Channel.The problem is very intermittent.Sometimes I have no problems connecting, while other times it won't connect at all until I turn WiFi off or even reboot the phone.Both phones behave the same way.I've gotten to the point now where I just leave WiFi turned off because it's so unreliable.I know it's not the WiFi signal strength either as it is just as likely to happen with the phone a few feet away from the router's antenna as it is when it's 50 feet away.

Sep 11, 2012So recently I have started to have a problem with my Wi-Fi Connection on my Samsung Galaxy Blaze 4G , So I would be on the Wi-Fi fine then each time i click on a video it asks for "Complete action using" then my Wi-Fi instantly stops and the Wi-Fi icon isn't there anymore . After i clicked one of the option on complete action using, couple seconds later my internet comes back.
So problem is that each time i try to watch a video my Wi-Fi Stops when on Web. But then I can watch videos through the Youtube application.
Also Another weird thing is that after the Wi-Fi reconnects My "Use packet data" setting is auto enabled again.
Samsung I7500 : WiFi Wont Connect To Vigor 2910 / How To Fix?
Dec 5, 2009I just got my i7500 in today and I've been trying to get it hooked up on my wireless router, a Draytek Vigor 2910. I've tried WEP and WPA/PSK, both won't work. The WEP is trying and says "obtaining IP address from ..." for a while, but then it goes dead saying unsuccessful. In my router I can see the phone connecting in the active list (the mac address shows while trying to connect), but than it disappears again. The Draytek uses a 13 position WEP key. Setting the phone to automatic doesn't work, nor does specifying WEP. I also tried to use WPA. The Draytek is now set to WEP or WPA/PSK (Mixed WPA + WPA2) with a 8 position WPA PSK. My i7500 shows the connection as WPA2, but it won't even try to connect. According to some FAQ I also need the setting TKIP, but I can not choose that on the i7500. Did any of you have the same problem, or even better.

Jul 22, 2010I am new to smartphones and thought that this might be good for others who are new and don't have the unlimited data plan grandfathered in to know.
This was posted in reply to another question I had had about Pandora so the credit goes to poster MeVirtually.
By default the wi-fi setting is set to go to sleep (and use cellular data instead) when the screen is off, which will most likely happen while you are streaming music as well as other things. To change it so the wi-fi never turns off, to into the phone's menu -> wireless and network -> wi-fi settings -> tap the menu button and select advanced which has an option for wi-fi sleep policy that had been defaulted to sleep "when screen turns off". There you have the option to change it to "never" or "never when plugged in".
HTC EVO 4G :: 4G Connection - Obtaining IP Address?
Jun 4, 2010I am right outside Chicago and have yet to be able to connect to 4G. I seems like the Evo is starting to connect to 4G, but then just sits with the message of "Obtaining IP address from Sprint". I have left it in this state for 30 mins, and nothing happens. Does anyone know if this is a fault of the phone, or maybe a lack of coverage?
