May 16, 2010wifi was fine at first but now when i turn wifi back on it says remembered secured with wps/wpa2 psk
obtaining ip address but then after a few mins says unsucessful this is with the phone next to my router!
also under settings - wifi settings i have no advanced tab to set my router time out? where is it?

Nov 11, 2009Using a Linksys wireless router with a WEP encryption at home. Every time I try to connect my phone says "Obtaining IP Address" and then after a short time it fails.
-Yes, my phone recognizes the router.
-Yes, I have the correct key.
-Yes, I have reset my router and modem, no change.
-Yes, I have restarted my phone.
-Yes, my phone connects just fine to unsecured wireless routers.
-No, I cannot find another thread that has solved this issue.

Aug 25, 2009I have a HTC Hero - T-mobile. Ok the problem, is i used to be able to connect to my wifi router no problem, its a netgear. "remembered, secured with WPA-Personal" and for some reason, it just wont get passed Obtaining address... So its connecting? but cant establish an IP?

Feb 23, 2010My Hero was connecting to my home WiFi perfectly (for about 5 weeks) - yesterday it stopped connecting, now just says CONNECTION UNSUCCESSFUL?OBTAINING IP ADDRESS.
I have not changed any of my router settings/phone settings, so this is strange. I have tried deleting link and re inputting key (this worked once, but now no longer works)
My router is on the recommended WPA-2 setting, and is regarded as a friendly router for the Hero (Netgear 834dg)

Aug 18, 2012Both of my android devicea, a razr and a galaxy tab 7.0 plus,are havingtrouble connectingto our wifi. the tab is on honeycomb, the razr on ics. assigning a static ip addressworks for about five minutes, then although the phone says connected, no connection works. during those 5 mins, i can browse the internet but cannot connect via dlna to other devices. when using dhcp dynamic ip address, it just cycles through obtaining ip to disconnected . i ued to use dlna daily, but no luck now, and the static ip is the only solution i can fimd online. This phone has used dhcp before, and theres no reason that it shouldnt be able to now. Both devices run standard roms.

I seems like the Evo is starting to connect to 4G, but then just sits with the message of "Obtaining IP address from Sprint". I have left it in this state for 30 mins, and nothing happens. Does anyone know if this is a fault of the phone, or maybe a lack of coverage?

1)the phone keeps jumping out of mass storage mode every 2 minuted after i mount it and so transfers get canceled in between

Jun 6, 2013solve the issue on the android ICS Wifi Mac address , here are the problems
1) NVRAM warning Err 0x10
2) Wifi always disconnect after able to obtain IP and browse internet a few seconds
3) Noticed that the MAC address last 6 digits are always changing, like 00:08:22:XX:XX:XX after I enable/disable the wifi
4) IPLINK SHOW ETH0 -- error: Can't find device 'eth0' , but WLAN0 is present
5) NetCfg command shows only Lo, wlan0, tunl0,sit0,ip6tnl0,ccmni0,ccmni1,ccmni2. but the Eth0 is not present?
Those problems originally found at the original rom. I have downloaded another similar rom but still not okay.
I downloaded the MIUI rom but only updates the system.img, recovery.img, boot.img. other image files were the same. The WIFI errors are still there.

Oct 23, 2013my IPv4 is unavailable when i connect to wifi network.but i can connect to the internet via mobile data.BUT, when i restart my phone with wifi turned on and a wifi network which it can connect, IPv4 will be detected, but my mobile data will suffer because all of my APN's will disappear, but when i restart my phone w/ Wifi off, APN's will be restored.

Jun 4, 2013I got myself a Chinese clone of a galaxy S3 (alps 7102), it has Android's Jelly Bean 4.1.1 operating system on it.
It keeps on changing its wi-fi mac address on reboot which I guess I could put up with, I have seen other posts with similar problems on varying phones and have tried to fix it, as per the methods described for them, but I cant seem to get a fix that works, for my phone I am not very familiar with the android operating system but have some experience with linux.
The phone doesn't seem to have a bootloader as I have tried to boot the phones bootloader with the adb command "adb reboot- bootloader" from my pc but it just boots as usual, I have done a factory reset to the phone as per the instructions from the ebayer that I bought the phone from but that didn't fix it (as you might have guessed) but it did reset the phones serial number to 0123456789ABCDEF which I have no idea why that happened but has added to the issues that I would like to be fixed.

I've found several forums of people trying to do this with no definitive answer, I need to get a somewhat cross-device UUID, so I can't rely on phone numbers or in ANDROID_ID (which can be overwritten and which I think depends on the user having a google account http://developer.android.com/reference/android/provider/Settings.Secure.html#ANDROID_ID
In linux you can use ifconfig or read from /proc/net/arp and you can easily get the Hardware address.
Is there a file in android that I can read?
There has to be a way to get this address since it's shown in the "Settings > About Phone > Status" of the phone.

Jan 23, 2013I like to add addresses to my phone book in Android. As a lot of my contacts live in buildings i also like to add the floor and apartment number to the address: Looking like that:
Street and Number, Floor and Department number
Town, zip code
State
Country
Example;
Av. Whatever 12345, Floor 5-A
Buenos Aires 1007
Argentina
When clicking on the address the GPS of my wish opens , finds the country, city but not the street because of the additional Floor and department information. Without this additional information everything well with Google Maps or Sygic.
So, how should i add this additional Floor and department information to my address without the GPS has problems to find the main location.Also from ICS on there is only one filed to add the whole address not as with Gingerbread where you had a field for street, city, etc.

Feb 28, 2010When I try to connect my Eris to my wifi network, it always says Unsuccessful when trying to obtain an ip address. But if I enable to to use a static ip, it connects fine. Its annoying for me though, because if I'm out and want to connect to a different wifi, I have to disable the static ip. I'd like to get it so I don't have to use a static ip address at my house. Any ideas?
Does anyone know what ip address it tries to obtain when static isn't on? The two computers on my network are using .100 and .104. I figured that my phone would pick one not in use, but maybe it's set on trying to get one of those?

Jun 23, 2010Well i have bought 2 month ago new, sim free Legend. After that i had like 2 firmware updates,and well after the second one i cant get wifi working. Its like "unable to start wifi" and after that i cant switch this process off, it shows "unable to turn wifi off". So to get rid of this i need to restart phone. So now i cant use wifi. I cant even turn off wifi notification, i don't see MAC address etc. Are there ways to fix that?

I walked in the house with my Captivate and it can't obtain an IP address. The password is right. It gets to "Obtaining IP address" but then it says "Unsuccessful." I have never ever had a device issue connecting to my wifi. Numerous family/friend phones have connected without a glitch. Any ideas?

It's obvious that there's an inconsistency between the source I have and that which was compiled into the android SDK but I don't know why given my GIT repo commands. Can someone link to the version of ProgressBar which was shipped with android-sdk-1.5_r3? Has anyone managed to get the branch which maps directly to this release? This might well be due my inexperience with Git, please let me know if anyone has this set up correctly and I will try again. I seem, in all honesty, to have the head revision still.

I want my "gaming board" to be at a specific position on my screen, so that I can display in-game informations above and below the box. But since there is beginning to be a lot of Android phones out there, I was thinking about getting "dynamic" values so that I can adapt my font size to every device.
My game is not in full screen (but it could be, it's no big deal), but in a window with no title bar.
I'm using an extension of the default SurfaceView class, implementing SurfaceHolder.Callback. I tried writing the following method :
