HTC Droid Eris : Way To Sync Gmail Contacts?
Jan 12, 2010How do I sync my phone with only "My Contacts" on my gmail account rather than "All Contacts"? Is this possible?

HTC Droid Eris :: Gmail Contacts Gone - Eris Wont Sync Contacts
Dec 15, 2009I logged in to my gmail and needed to send email and it wouldn't suggest contacts anymore. I went into contacts and all of them gone except the ones that only had email field filled in. The groups that i created are there but no contacts.
I went into my phone and google contacts are there but they won't sync, errors out with "sync is temporary down".
All this creates another problem for me, I have phone contacts and google contacts in my Eris. Phone contact are synced to PC and all is good but I need my google contact in my gmail so I can email people and I have no way of putting them back to gmail and don't even know how to back them up.

May 18, 2010I've tried posting this on other threads but have gotten no replies. Forgive me for starting a new one. I haven't synced my contacts to Gmail since January because I found the way it would garble them all up annoying. But I got the OTA on my phone & wanted to make sure they're backed up before I go ahead w/the installation. Problem is, it has been acting like it's syncing for over 12 hours now & all it's doing is draining my battery. It still shows that it hasn't been synced since January. Also, periodically during the sync attempts, the "too many contacts deletes" notification pops up. I always tell it to delete everything. And it's odd that one time it'll say 505 deletes & the next time it'll say 502 deletes & it keeps getting less. I don't get it. need to back up my contacts before I install 2.1 right?

Aug 21, 2010i have 2 gmail accounts personal and a business my personal account synced up fine with email and contacts.I want to sync my business account but just mail not contacts. I don't want to mix. when i added my business account it sync up contacts that i don't want in my phone. is there a way to not sync contacts on secondary gmail accounts on the gmail app. i think before the 2.1 update i think there was a way. but i can't seem to find it.

Jan 22, 2010I have searched and read a lot of threads that talk about syncing but still have not been able to find a solution. My problem is, I am wanting to do something so simple, I want to sync my contacts on my phone to my gmail account so that it's backed up (if anything happens to my phone) But i tried going to settings and it wont let me do it (maybe i am doing it incorrectly). Can someone post the correct ways to do this? My default email account is a hotmail account and i have added another email account which is the gmail account.

Nov 8, 2009My girfriend just got the Eris and it synced contacts from her gmail, into her phone contacts. Was nice becase they couldent sync the contacs on her broken phone. Can droid do the same thing? Also it let her sync her contacts with facebook profile. This put the facebook picture next to the contact, and found birtday for the calander. IS this somthing that droid can do?

As long as the contacts are in my contacts everything syncs fine. when I put contacts in those groups that I created they never show up on my phone. Is there a setting I am missing? Nov 24, 2009Currently if I add/modify a contact in gmail it will sync without issue to my phone But if I happen to add a contact onto my phone or change something on my phone, that contact is not being synced to my gmail contacts (it stays on the phone, just doesn't go into gmail as well). Thoughts? I currently only sync 'My Contacts' from gmail to my phone not sure if this matters or not. I don't see an option to sync the other way as I did when using Google Sync on my blackberry.

May 7, 2013I've checked my phone's sync settings, synced several times, logged in and out of Gmail online to see if anything has been updated. No such luck. Icon by phone numbers saved on phone is a cell phone, rather than the letter "G" which typically represents contacts pulled from Gmail online. I've had this issue - I believe - with my previous Samsung. Although I've seen this question brought up before, the answers are typically not device specific or have not been useful and clear to follow.
As a new user, I had difficulty negotiating this site and finding the best place to post this. There is not an LG Optimus L9 Forum so, if there is a location where this post might encourage more visibility.

Nov 29, 2009My gmail was coming in pretty fast, now today it isn't. I have to manually refresh it now. Maybe I changed something, if so can you direct me where I need to check please? They are not showing up in my notification nar at this time (after refresh) either. I really like that bar too! Also, the data sycnronizing or connected HTC Sync icon (right by the gps and 3g icons) keeps coming on and off every few seconds. Is this normal? While I'm at it, the 3g icon's arrows (up and down) do the same thing all the time.I'm a yahoo guy and setup my gmail to import my yahoo, now all day it hasn't been when refreshing, etc. Gmail issues today perhaps? I think from all of my reading on here and messing with the phone I did something perhaps?

Jan 9, 2010So I added a few contacts on Google today, and noticed that they hadn't gone to my phone, I checked in Settings>Data Synchronization>Google and noticed that Contacts were actively syncing that moment. So I waited. Contacts continued to sync for twenty minutes, so I turned the phone off, took the battery out, put it back in, and the contacts still just keep syncing but never finish. However, no real data is being transferred, I suppose it's somehow stuck, but can't figure it out. Workaround? Fix?

Jun 6, 2010I recently called someone and wanted to add them to my contact list. In call history, I clicked the little file picture and added their name, saved it as a google contact, and saved it. If I go to People, the name doesnt appear. So I went to the People app, entered their info, made it a google contact, saved. Still didnt work. Even manually synced my google account. So then I changed the "view" to show every option and slowly ticked off each box til I realized that only if "show auto gmail contacts" is ON does my new contact appear. It was also "linked" to 3 other contacts (the same one that I kept adding over and over wondering why it wasnt appearing). So, of course I do NOT want everyone I've ever e-mailed in my contact list, so the question is, how can I add/save any contacts and make them appear in People?

May 14, 2010Before I upgraded to 2.1 OTA, my contacts had no problem syncing with Facebook (both manual and automatic). Here is what happens: I go to a contact, find the bar that says "Link to Facebook" or whatever it says, click it, then type in the name of the person to search Facebook friends, but no matter what I do it says that there are no matches. No one else has reported this problem, so I'm guessing it isn't a problem inherent to 2.1. Could you guys provide some input as to what I need to do to fix this?

The other day it drained my battery while at work. I have had to stop it manually or it will just keep trying to sync.
