Is there any way to play gif files on the droid eris? my friends always send me these animated photos and they never work!! is there a setting i need to tweak or am i just s.o.l?

I can't play mp4 files on my Eris... when I try to load them all I get is audio and a black screen. Any one know how to fix this?

When I had a WinMo phone (HTC Touch) I used EasySync software to automatically specified folders between my PC and phone. This came in handy when I would travel and people wanted some of the large files emailed to them. Since the Eris, I have missed this functionality. I know that I can drag/drop/copy but am looking for something that will automatically sync when phone is mounted. Does anyone know of an app?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI went to use my Eris as a music player for the first time. I plugged in my headphones and tested it out by playing a song. The song plays loud and clear through the headphones, but also plays loud and clear through the phone speaker/earpiece. I could not figure out why it would not just play through the headphones. (I have tried a pair of apple earbuds, as well as basic Sony ones).

Finally found a free video player called arcMedia which plays avi files, but the video quality is completely messed up. I read about Handbrake software using which we can convert avi files into mp4 files. But I have a huge collection of avi files and d not want to be converting every single avi file so I can play it on my epic. I also tried finding Rockplayer in android marketplace, but could not find it from my epic phone.

There's a vast amount of material in MSWord format that I wish to read on my Eris. I can save a file as .txt and put it on my SD card using Astro, etc., but Quickoffice and Tulip are the only readers able to read those files - and both are otherwise inadequate. I've never passed the Caliber IQ test. It seems to convert to epub, but none of those readers ever see the result.
Has anyone found a video player apps for the Eris that will play saved videos from the SD card in MP4 or avi formats?

They aren't even showing up in the players although they are in the folder on the sd card. Is there a patch or something I can do to get cubed to recognize them? Its almost half my music. Needless to say, I wont be giving apple anyof my money ever again.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to download the SMS app from XDA and the guy has it up as a zip file. I download it and extract it, and it's a folder with random crap in it. No apk.
Then I read that I just change the file name. I'm on a Mac, so I change the filename and it verifies if I want to change it from .zip to .apk and I say "yes." Put it on my card and Astro still doesn't recognize it. It's list, but it's an icon with a window and a gear in front of it.
I installed the Vanilla email app, no problem. Not sure what the deal is with this one.
