HTC Droid Eris :: Stock Browser Crashing - Screen Is Completely White
Jan 30, 2010I have had my Eris for maybe 3 or 4 days and I absolutely love it. I have to thank all of you for the useful tips and tricks I have been reading.
I haven't had a problem until tonight.
I was using the stock browser on MySpace, finished what I was doing, logged out and used the back key to get back to the home screen, which I always do. I could never get back to the home screen, the farthest back it would take me was to the original MySpace login screen and I had to hit the home key to get back to the home screen.
When I now try to open the browser, it acts like it is loading, I see the status bar, which loads all the way, but other than that, the screen is completely white and stays that way - the whole screen is white and never does anything.
Could this have been caused by MySpace or maybe a browser issue that happened to occur while I was on MySpace?
I have cleared cache, cleared all data, rebooted a few times, force stopped it, killed it with advanced task manager and everything else I could think of.

Dec 9, 2009I just got my phone yesterday and spent all night downloading apps and customizing it. Today, I was showing it to some people then put it my pocket (might not have locked it first). Next thing I know, it starts to beep and I look at it and it's back to the HTC start screen and loads up and asks me to go through the same initial steps I had gone through to activate the phone. I did all this and then it started up and all my apps and customization were gone. I assume they're lost now but does anybody know how that happened so I can avoid that happening again?

Aug 28, 2010Obviously a noob, I have looked through the threads, and it appears you can restore a rooted phone to an un-rooted phone?
My question is, if I root my EVO and then have some sort of hardware issue that would possibly require a replacement or repair of the device by Sprint, can I restore it to it's pre-rooted condition such that Sprint or HTC cannot detect that it was rooted? Or, if I root it, should I just drop the repair insurance for it, because I am basically jumping off the insurance cliff when I root it?

Mar 21, 2010Hey everyone, I have a couple of simple questions regarding root. I have never rooted a phone before but I'm sure I can figure it out. I don't need to do anything fancy with my phone but Wifi tethering sounds like it would be worth taking the plunge. I have been following the bugs and fixes thread about the 2.1 leak and the only think that initially kept me from installing the leak was everyone saying that the phone would randomly go completely silent. Does this also happen with the newest root ROM? Also, just to make sure I know what exactly what WiFi tethering is, will I be able to tether my WiFi if I get rooted and set up WiFi tethering?

(from what I have read about some returns) and will it happen again with another phone? Somebody mentioned the Chargers were the culprit while I read it could be a software problem? I can deal with the scrolling left when plugged in, but that silent call thing would drive me nuts.

May 2, 2010My phone died today, and once i put it on the charger and booted it back up it was frozen completely. I restarted the phone and still the same thing. The screen never shuts off and then drop down menu is trying to come down. I get no feedback from any touch of the screen and occasionally i will get a bunch of random vibrates back. Mar 19, 2010I've switched from the Iphone 3G to the Eris 20 days ago. Android is sweet, but am feeling frustrated with the speed of the Eris. I upgraded to the rooted 2.1 in hopes of speeding things up, and it did for the most part, but it still lags when trying to make calls. Call quality is subpar on both ends, I had better call quality with ATT and the iphone. I am considering returning the phone to AmazonWireless if possible, do you think they would notice I installed 2.1? Will I get my new account activation upgrade on a different phone (Incredible or N1). I plan on activating an old phone until one of those comes out, then using my upgrade discount on that. Worst case is I'd have to sell it on ebay and buy an unlocked version.

When I first used metamorph I didn't realize I really had no way of going back to stock because I hadn't backed up my rom backed up before hand. Jan 16, 2010I had mounted my sd card to transfer files between pc (XP) and eris.
i correctly unmounted from pc (safely remove hardware) and then stopped file sharing on eris.
i took the card out and put in a different one (i don't have a card reader and was trying to transfer some stuff).
when i tried to put the original card back in, my finger slipped as i was pushing it in and it got like halfway in and then popped back out.
the eris saw this as an unsafe removal.
now, it keeps telling me "the sd card is blank or using an unsupported .." something. if i tap on the notification, it just takes to me a window to format it. i keep saying yes to format, but it never formats.
i've tried formatting from settings and tried mounting it again and formatting from the pc. when i do that, the pc says that the drive size is 1.08 TB (?!?!?). this is the 8GB sd card that comes with the eris. and it also won't let me format.
what gives? i've tried taking it out and putting it back in. it keeps saying unsafe removal but the option to unmount is grayed out and i can't choose it.
i tried taking it out, turning off the eris, putting the card in and turning back on. still nothing.
what's going on here?
