Aug 16, 2010Does anyone know how to disable the stock dialer? Before 2.1 you could download a dialer and make it the default. Now, with 2.1, that is not possible. So the large "phone" button on the home page is is still the stock dialer even though I have downloaded Dailer One.

Jan 16, 2010I had mounted my sd card to transfer files between pc (XP) and eris.
i correctly unmounted from pc (safely remove hardware) and then stopped file sharing on eris.
i took the card out and put in a different one (i don't have a card reader and was trying to transfer some stuff).
when i tried to put the original card back in, my finger slipped as i was pushing it in and it got like halfway in and then popped back out.
the eris saw this as an unsafe removal.
now, it keeps telling me "the sd card is blank or using an unsupported .." something. if i tap on the notification, it just takes to me a window to format it. i keep saying yes to format, but it never formats.
i've tried formatting from settings and tried mounting it again and formatting from the pc. when i do that, the pc says that the drive size is 1.08 TB (?!?!?). this is the 8GB sd card that comes with the eris. and it also won't let me format.
what gives? i've tried taking it out and putting it back in. it keeps saying unsafe removal but the option to unmount is grayed out and i can't choose it.
i tried taking it out, turning off the eris, putting the card in and turning back on. still nothing.
what's going on here?

Oct 2, 2010I installed modacco's r9 ROM and chose the brut modifies the maps app. however I don't see how it has added anything. I want to revert to the stock maps application so I can get updates through the market etc... is it possible to do this without having to reinstall the Rom all over again?

Dec 6, 2009As I continue to downlaod and try new apps, I notice that some of the permissions that some of them have are/is: "Prevent phone from sleeping". I didn't think much about it, but after conditioning my phone...for a few days I was getting around 11% awake time, now after a few of these apps after a recharge this AM I am showing 26%...before the charge my awake time was very high again. I always use Adavanced Task Killer after messing with the phone, 9/10 trials.

Mar 4, 2010I stepped on my first Eris (don't ask) and had to get a replacement through Asurion. Well, I thought when I got my new phone I would be able to redownload all the apps I had purchased but I cant. The Market wants me to pay for them all again. I guess the market tracks you specifially with your phone, not your account. So I called Verizon, of course they were no help. The chick didn't even try to help, I asked her if I could get those apps back and she stalled for a second like she really didnt know but also didnt want to take the time to find out, then she said NOPE. I was like man, that sucks, she said YEP! That was the end of the conversation. Surely there is a way for me to get these apps back without paying for them again? I know they are inexpensive but when you have 10 or so they start to add up! Not to mention I had my first phone for less than a month and hardly got to enjoy the apps I purchased. I've thought about emailing the dev's but dont know if thats a good approach or not.

Sep 24, 2010Anyone know of any apps that will allow a parent to set a content filter on the Eris so a kid can't access adult themed websites (porn etc)? The subject came up at work and it sounded like something worth looking in to, but the best I could find was a content filter service from Verizon (for free) but it seems that it also prevents Google Navigator, Facebook and YouTube from working properly (they all load just fine, but crazy error codes come up which prevent you from getting any further). Also of note: this only works when using the 3G service, as WiFi has no problems accessing Nav, FB and YT.
