Motorola Droid :: 12v Power Plug / Has To Use Usb Cord To Charge Phone
Aug 16, 2010My Droid running 2.1 update 1 will no longer charge on the 12v power plug and my sons droid running 2.1 update 1 no longer charges off the 120 power plug he has to use the usb cord to charge the phone. Any one else run into this?

Jun 1, 2010Last night when I plugged in my power cord, it did not begin to charge, so I unplugged it and looked and the power cord was smoking and sparking. Do you know what would cause this? I am looking for a micro USB cable to see if the phone socket is still working. If the phone socket is broken, I guess HTC support is the first place to go?

Dec 4, 2009How do I power the phone off? Is there a manual somewhere out there? Mine only came with a book called 'Tips, Hints and Shortcuts.' I have a mac... is there anyway to sync this to my computer? Also how do I put files onto the phone... I have mounted the phone onto computer and can see it but I don't know where to put the files. When using the phone, can you rename folders? How do you manage these folders? Also is there a way to remove all the crap software that comes loaded.... amazonmp3, no thanks!.... Peep, no thanks!.... I read about "rooting" but this seems complicated, is there maybe an application that does it for you?

Apr 13, 2010I had an issue today where I took the phone out of my pocket to check the time and it was powered off. I went to turn it on and no skateboarding-robot love. I thought the battery might have died, but one hour and two different chargers later, it still did not turn on. My co-workers Eris was the test subject for the battery and other components. It would not turn on at all and there was no charging light showing, either.
I called Verizon and I should have my replacement device on Thursday. Until then, I'm rocking (if you'd call it that) a Blackberry Tour. It feels weird. Other than Google Voice I doubt I'll even install any apps....
I wonder if I'll get one with 1.5 and I can root it. I had already installed 2.1v2 on it. I am excited about rooting, wifi tether, and so on. There's some great ROMs out there. I actually hope it does NOT come with 2.1 already. I'll fill all of you in!

Feb 16, 2010Anyone else had an issue with powering up? I now have to push all of my power cords down to get a charge now. If I just plug it into the phone, no charge. It's until I jiggle the cord, is when I get a charge.
Anyone else had this issue? I might take it back in for a new one soon.
HTC Droid : Eris Sending Messages On Power On?
May 4, 2010Does this ever happen to you? Whenever I power my phone off and on or just turn it on after it dies, it will send old SMS messages to the same people. For instance, a text that I sent days ago will send again on power on and sometimes this gets kind of awkward does anybody know a fix or anything to this?

Apr 29, 2010For some reason the power control widget won't activate my wireless. It will turn green, but won't connect. I have to go through Settings/Wireless & networks/ then tap Wifi Settings, and it will automatically connect. I don't have to choose a network, I just tap on Wifi Settings and then it connects.

Mar 12, 2010So last night I lost my end/power key function. The phone would not sleep when I hit the key, i would have to wait till it went on standby by itself. I tried some other things and realized that it was a software issue. I can hang up calles and I can bring it out of standby. it would go back into standby by hitting the key as long as I didnt unlock it. So I reinstalled 2.1. Well I got my end/power function back, but now my HTC clock/weather widget just says My Location. when I try to manually enter a city its not found. some major ones are listed but not many are not. GPS is on. Any ideas?

in a perfect world, it would show which apps are running and how much power or wake time they are using. i've tried to turn off as much as i can, yet my battery life still sucks sometimes, and i'd like to find out what is responsible for it so i can change that setting.
most of the power management apps i've seen just tell you battery level and health.

HTC Droid : Power - Sleep Button Recessed Than Phone / Talk On Eris
Feb 14, 2010Anybody out there see what I'm seeing? It seems as if the power/sleep button is a bit more recessed than the phone/talk button that pops out a little more. Could this just be from heavier use since I am always hitting the sleep button after phone use? Or, is this a HTC design to prevent you from hitting the button as easily. Not really a huge difference here just enough to feel if you run your finger over both of them. Wondering if it will get lower over time? Good ol' ocd flaring up again.

Nov 8, 2009As much as I wanted to use the native Gmail app, the font size was just too small (seems like a common Android problem except in the browser). To remedy this I simply configured my Gmail (actually Google Apps) account as an IMAP account with the regular Android Mail. Here, font size is fully scalable (about six selections) and they apply to both reading email to typing new email. This will have to do until someone fixes the dedicated Gmail app font size. On the positive side, this actually works better in receiving email sent to the phone as it was definitely NOT full push with the Gmail app as it's supposed to be. Having them both setup it's easy to see that mail arrives much faster with the regular IMAP mail app than with the Gmail, which is really odd.

I realize I can add apps like Handcent that will allow me to do it for things like SMS/MMS. But I also would like to have a way to just increase the font for everything else. After coming over to the Eris from several other smartphones where the font could be adjusted, I'm concerned that I havent found a way on the Eris.
And no, I am not looking for answers such as, "Put on your reading glasses". LOL. I'm hoping I'm just overlooking a simple setting, and maybe an easy app that I can get thru The Market ?

When I take a picture and share it in messages it says picture is too large and starts compressing it. It compresses it down to 14kb. It says picture can be as large as 1000kb but every time it compresses it to 14kb and don't know how to change it.

May 18, 2010Ever since the 2.1 OTA upgrade,when I open my web browser it defaults to an extremely tiny size.I'd describe it as fit-to-screen where the entire web page will be fit to the size of the phone screen, thus making the words unreadable.I have to use my fingers to expand it before I can read it.But before the upgrade, it would open by default to a size that was at least readable.How can I change the default size of the web page?
