View 9 RepliesI have been reading a lot on this issue since my 3 week old Eris has started moving the home screens and cursors to the far left but only when charging. Is there a fix to this I can do myself? I know if I go to Verizon (corp store) they will offer to replace it with a FRU model (refurb) and I will not have that since this phone is brand new. Since being a Verizon customer for 4 years I have had FRU replacements all resulting in a replacement phone that has even more issue's than the one it replaced which then resulted in a multi model FRU to a new phone (Samsung Gleam (2 replacements) to a new Env2 (3 Env's) then to an new LG voyager that lasted 2 years. What worries me is that Verizon has dropped the Eris and if I cant get a new Eris replacement I know they are going to throw the cinder block sized Moto Droid at me.

Also before the update I could have sworn there was an option on the screen timeout to set it to never. Now I don't have that option.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just bought a used Eris off of Ebay to hold me over until January or so. It came rooted with the XTRsense rom, overclocked, apps2sd, etc. The phone runs great and the battery life seems decent, however, it won't charge. When I plug it in, the battery icon shows that it's charging, but when I unplug it, the battery is still at the same percentage. I left it charging overnight last night, and it was still at like 40% life this morning. Any ideas as to what could be causing this? If it's hardware related, I don't mind popping it open if it saves me from dealing with the hassle of returning this phone and going back to my Storm.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a standard HTC Eris travel AC charge that I bought. Worked awesome. Charged Phone nice and fast. When I would plug it in. The battery widget would show a little plug.
Now when I attempt to plug the phone in. It thinks its charging by usb. Taking the phone off charge and replugging it in. It tells me its now charging by ac. If i touch the phone a tiny bit it will stop charging. Touch the wire and it begins to charge again. Only as usb. When its clearly plugged into the ac charger.
If i plug the phone into my car charger it say ac. I just dont get it.
Now when i left work. I attempted to tether the phone via pdanet. Now the phone wolnt go into usb debugging. Phone charges but computer wolnt recognize it.
Ive tried the usual. Power cycling both computer and phone. Tried restarting both computer and phone. As well as changed cords and chargers. All do the same thing. I fear maybe some of the contacts are bad on the phone.
I remember hearing that charging slightly, but not letting it charge all the way is dangerous to the battery. It this true, or is can I let my battery charge a little and then unplug it without any problems?

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo, my Eris has been charging for a while, and I was playing Cestos, and noticed my LED was alternating between Green and Amber. So I exited my game, thinking I probably had an E-mail. Well I didn't. I unplugged my charger, plugged it back in, and it continued this for about 15 minutes. It isn't doing it now, but I just would like to know the cause of it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI got home from a trip today, where my phone had been sitting at a low charge for a bit. I managed to get it a high enough charge to hold out, but it died by the time I was in my house and hooked it up to the charged. The Amber LED is not lighting up like it is charging, which has me worried. I have switched between different USB cables, and also from the wall to a USB. Is it normal for the LED to not light up if the battery is absolutely drained? Also, any USB mini cable should work, correct?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhy is conductive "wireless" charging so slow to reach cell phones? Both Powermat and Messless have chargers on the market (with adapters for iPhones and little else). You have to use a universal adapter - which means you are plugging it in anyway. I paid $12 for a Wiimote charging stand that uses the same basic technology. I just want a cradle/dock type of thing that I can drop my phone into and it starts charging. I get annoyed plugging and unplugging the device each time. Are there any manufacturers out there reading this forum and want my money? :-)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just picked up an Eris after having the nearly identical Hero for about 3 weeks. On the Hero, there was a notification LED on the top of the phone. It blinked when I had new e-mail, texts, or voicemails. I see the Eris has a small LED light in the top right corner, but that seems to only light up when charging? Is that all that light does? Indicate when the phone is charging? I would think that would blink when notifications from SMS, calls or e-mail come in? Is it supposed to?

When I charge it in the Eris, it immediately starts to drop. Is the Eris charging the battery at less than full capacity?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyone else had an issue with powering up? I now have to push all of my power cords down to get a charge now. If I just plug it into the phone, no charge. It's until I jiggle the cord, is when I get a charge.
Anyone else had this issue? I might take it back in for a new one soon.
I'm using DockRunner to simulate the docking station and charging my Driod via a USB cable connected to my phone. After 30 seconds (my timeout setting) the screen goes dark.Is there a setting I am missing to keep the screen from timing out when connected via USB and in the Dock mode?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen my phone is charging my screen tends to jump a bit when I'm scrolling, has anyone else noticed this? If I scroll up or down and leave my finger in the screen, the screen will jump up and down in small jerky movements around my finger. I also noticed while playing breakout that the slider will have jerky movement as well while charging. Hope I'm not the only one who experiences this, it's not a big deal but bothers me. Does not happen when not charging. Also, some times when trying to tap the screen and select something does your droid randomly scroll down maybe 8% of the time? I have this issue as well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed some odd behavior when using a wall charger for an Amazon Kindle 2. The moment I plug in the charger it's as if there are fifty phantom fingers touching the screen repeatedly. I've heard others report similar behavior with various other non-moto chargers.the Kindle charger charges the Droid just fine, as does my Blackberry charger that I use at work. I just plug them in and immediately turn the screen off. I've been using those for 2 weeks and haven't noticed any ill effects as long as I turn the screen off immediately after plugging in the charger. At first I thought that any standard USB micro charger with the proper voltage should work without any issues. That is obviously not the case, but it leaves me wondering what causes the odd screen behavior. Are some chargers just not shielded properly? Is it EM interference activating the touchscreen? Or is the moto charger just special somehow? Maybe some EE type out there can figure out or explain what the deal is with this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy phone was dying so i charged it. Plug it in, 30 mins past so i went to check on it.
So i looked at it and battery is still red. And i am wonder what the heck. Everything is plug in where it should be.
Low and behold the chord connecting at the mini usb well let's just say the casing is ripping apart and the wire is exposed. I've had this phone for 3 weeks and this happens.
Verizon better give me a new charger. Also i've notice i always get Sense UI force closed and other apps force closed but if i close and start again it works.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe battery life is not too good. But it's tiny after all.I was looking at getting an extra battery. This one: "Seidio Innocell 1750mAh Extended Battery for Verizon HTC Droid Eris" at HTC Depot is $49.95.On eBay,I can get 2 batteries and a wall charger for around $11.But I have a case for the phone and it looks like opening it up every day to change batteries would wear it out very quickly.Does anyone know of an external battery with a (short) cord to the USB/charge port? That could be 4 times the size of an internal battery and still fit in my pocket.
View 1 Replies View RelatedCurious anyone's thoughts on letting a battery completely drain, before charging VS pluggin it in every night, whether its low or not? Does it develop a "memory", and thereby cut the usable charge down?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Droid Eris which I LOVE, but yesterday and today my battery has been getting very low/dying just hours after charging it all through the night, which I do every night. I have not downloaded any new apps, and have hardly any apps that would take up battery life honestly. Any ideas on what to do? Or is it just time to go into Verizon and see what they say?
