Motorola Droid :: Sudden Change In Media Dock Charging Behavior?
May 1, 2010Three Droids in the family, had for approx 1 month, with no real battery problems other than drain with GPS use. Battery usage extremely predictable. Until yesterday. Day before yesterday, wife's phone reported battery charge of ~30% after being on media dock charger all night. Figured it was a connection glitch of some kind. Happened again today, then while I was looking at the phone, battery went from ~20% to 100%. Now seemed more like a status reading problem. Picked up my phone from its media dock - a different one - and surprise surprise, it too was reading ~30% after being on dock charging all night.
(Yes, we have power and the docks are plugged in.) Powering down phone doesn't reset status, still reads ~30%.
HTC Droid Eris :: Phone Says It's Charging But Its Not
Aug 20, 2010I just bought a used Eris off of Ebay to hold me over until January or so. It came rooted with the XTRsense rom, overclocked, apps2sd, etc. The phone runs great and the battery life seems decent, however, it won't charge. When I plug it in, the battery icon shows that it's charging, but when I unplug it, the battery is still at the same percentage. I left it charging overnight last night, and it was still at like 40% life this morning. Any ideas as to what could be causing this? If it's hardware related, I don't mind popping it open if it saves me from dealing with the hassle of returning this phone and going back to my Storm.

Jul 25, 2010I got home from a trip today, where my phone had been sitting at a low charge for a bit. I managed to get it a high enough charge to hold out, but it died by the time I was in my house and hooked it up to the charged. The Amber LED is not lighting up like it is charging, which has me worried. I have switched between different USB cables, and also from the wall to a USB. Is it normal for the LED to not light up if the battery is absolutely drained? Also, any USB mini cable should work, correct?

Mar 8, 2010I just discovered this issue - it may be only relevant to 2.1 since I upgraded (or to something else entirely) but when my Eris is plugged in and I use it the Home Screen seems to act crazy - well not that crazy - just that with motion the Homes Screens roll "left( that is to the left most screen) almost like I am using the track ball (but only in one direction) - unplug it and it works fine - its not a major issue but a wierd one - anyone else notice this behavior.

Aug 10, 2010I just recently flashed to KaosFroyo and I absolutley love it! But there are two problems that I have with it and I was hoping someone could help me out.
1. The softkey lights stay on but if I rotate the phone vertical they will turn off...kinda strange. I remember reading about it somewhere and a possible fix but I can't remember where.
2. I tried calling *228 to re-program my phone's roaming capabilities and when I call it I get brought to a new activation screen that I never had before with 2.1. But anyways, there is no way to select menu options because there is no keyboard!
3. When ever I plug my phone in to charge and I touch it, icons will start to be highlighted and my screens will move around. I am almost positive that it is a hardware defect but Verizon won't replace it because I forgot to wipe 2.2 off it before I brought it in.

Aug 25, 2010I have a standard HTC Eris travel AC charge that I bought. Worked awesome. Charged Phone nice and fast. When I would plug it in. The battery widget would show a little plug.
Now when I attempt to plug the phone in. It thinks its charging by usb. Taking the phone off charge and replugging it in. It tells me its now charging by ac. If i touch the phone a tiny bit it will stop charging. Touch the wire and it begins to charge again. Only as usb. When its clearly plugged into the ac charger.
If i plug the phone into my car charger it say ac. I just dont get it.
Now when i left work. I attempted to tether the phone via pdanet. Now the phone wolnt go into usb debugging. Phone charges but computer wolnt recognize it.
Ive tried the usual. Power cycling both computer and phone. Tried restarting both computer and phone. As well as changed cords and chargers. All do the same thing. I fear maybe some of the contacts are bad on the phone.

You have to use a universal adapter - which means you are plugging it in anyway. I paid $12 for a Wiimote charging stand that uses the same basic technology. I just want a cradle/dock type of thing that I can drop my phone into and it starts charging. I get annoyed plugging and unplugging the device each time.Are there any manufacturers out there reading this forum and want my money? :-)

Dec 17, 2009I just picked up an Eris after having the nearly identical Hero for about 3 weeks. On the Hero, there was a notification LED on the top of the phone. It blinked when I had new e-mail, texts, or voicemails. I see the Eris has a small LED light in the top right corner, but that seems to only light up when charging? Is that all that light does? Indicate when the phone is charging? I would think that would blink when notifications from SMS, calls or e-mail come in? Is it supposed to?

Feb 16, 2010Anyone else had an issue with powering up? I now have to push all of my power cords down to get a charge now. If I just plug it into the phone, no charge. It's until I jiggle the cord, is when I get a charge.

Dec 24, 2009My phone was dying so i charged it. Plug it in, 30 mins past so i went to check on it.
So i looked at it and battery is still red. And i am wonder what the heck. Everything is plug in where it should be.
Low and behold the chord connecting at the mini usb well let's just say the casing is ripping apart and the wire is exposed. I've had this phone for 3 weeks and this happens.
Verizon better give me a new charger. Also i've notice i always get Sense UI force closed and other apps force closed but if i close and start again it works.

Jul 7, 2010I have been reading a lot on this issue since my 3 week old Eris has started moving the home screens and cursors to the far left but only when charging. Is there a fix to this I can do myself? I know if I go to Verizon (corp store) they will offer to replace it with a FRU model (refurb) and I will not have that since this phone is brand new. Since being a Verizon customer for 4 years I have had FRU replacements all resulting in a replacement phone that has even more issue's than the one it replaced which then resulted in a multi model FRU to a new phone (Samsung Gleam (2 replacements) to a new Env2 (3 Env's) then to an new LG voyager that lasted 2 years.What worries me is that Verizon has dropped the Eris and if I cant get a new Eris replacement I know they are going to throw the cinder block sized Moto Droid at me.

Sep 19, 2010Well so after a cross country meet I had my Droid 2 in my backpack and I was going to call my dad. It wouldn't turn on, so I thought that it was just because my battery died. When I got home the next day, I charged it for a while and then turned it on, but it still wouldn't charge. I'm thinking that it is dead, but the charger is messed up because I didn't see anything on the Droid that was blinking, so I think that means its not charging. Can someone please help me?

Jul 11, 2010Ive noticed that my phone runs at 500-550mhz regardless of what profile i have setcpu set for charging. At first i thought it was usb debugging but when i have it on my wall or car charger it ramps up to 500-500mhz. I have tried setting my phone with setcpu to run 250/250/ when charging at it goes straight to 500-550mhz. I confirmed this with system panel as well. This happens in both bugless beast v.04 and kangerade 5.0.3. I even removed setcpu and notice the phone going to 500-550mhz. Is anyone having this same issue? I had my phone on the car charger with 70% with the scren on during a trip with no programs running. At the end of the trip the phone was at 40% and running hot. Not exactly what i want when its suppoe to be charging.
