The topic says it all. I love 2.1 on the Droid Eris, but miss the little green guys that peek out at you and the sound they make during boot up. Any way to bring them back on a 2.1 setup without root?

I had a problem and was wondering if you could help. I downloaded the Boot Animation Changer app because I wanted to d/l the mario bros. boot animation. It now is on my phone but after it runs my screen goes green for awhile as i frantically press buttons to get it back. I tried uninstalling the app but that didn't get my original animation backk. How do i do this?

How can I get the stock back?I dont know what to do.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI created my own boot animation and I am having problems with it. As you can see in the video below, it flashes every time it starts a new folder (part0 and part1) and continuously flashes when it repeats part1. It is not only this boot animation though as I have tried others and they are doing the same thing. If someone could help me with this, EDIT: I have reset to factory settings and tried again to no avail. I don't know what the problem is.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSince people are starting to make their own boot animations now, and this is something that everyone (not just root) can do to customize their Eris I thought it'd be helpful to start sharing them in one place. Also, since the name of the animation must be "bootanimation.zip" I have changed the names to avoid confusion when downloading, but it will have to be changed back before installing.
Installing the SDK and using ADB
1.) Make sure debug mode is enabled:
Menu -> settings -> Applications -> Development, Check the box for USB Debugging.
2.) Download the SDK from Android SDK | Android Developers
3.) Download HTC Sync from HTC Mobile Phone Support - DROID ERIS by HTC (Verizon) - Downloads
4.) Install HTC Sync (This takes care of any driver issues)
5.) Extract the SDK to any directory (C:Androids is easy to remember) and install.
6.) Open a command window (Windows key + R -> Type "cmd" hit enter)
7.) Navigate to your SDK ools Directory

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I'm not quite ready to root yet but wanted to do some more custimization to my phone. I read in another forum about being able to change the boot animation without root. It worked so after reading about some of you all that don't like the sprint 4g boot animation I figured I'd share.
First, you need to install android SDK. Bill did a good guide to installing it: http://androidforums.com/tips-tricks-evo-4g/90418-how-install-android-sdk.html.
When I was installing the sdk I had a lot of trouble with installing the driver for the EVO for whatever reason. Eventually this is what worked for me:

Once you get SDK installed find a new boot animation. There are a few here: [url]
The boot animation should be a zip file named "bootanimation". Put this file in the tools folder of the sdk.
Open up command prompt (Start>Run>type "cmd"). In command prompt you need to get to the sdk tools folder. To do this I typed in "cd C:Documents and SettingsUserDesktopandroid-sdk-windows ools" where "User"=you user name. This may be different depending on your version of windows and where you unpacked sdk.
Now from here you can check to make sure your device is connected by typing in "adb devices". If you get a line that says "List of Devices Attached" and then a line with some numbers and letters followed by "device" you are conneceted. If not go back a try reinstalling Android SDK.
Now with the bootanimation.zip file in the tools folder and command prompt pointing to the tools folder type "adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local". Make sure you put the spaces in or it won't work.
Restart your phone and you should see the new boot animation instead of the Sprint 4G one.
I was wondering if there is an easy way to change the boot animation on my EVO as well as the splash screen. I do realize there is a long way to do it without root, but I am operating from a Mac. If there were some rooted apps that do this, please point me to them.

I've used Root Explorer to change the boot animation on the stock 2.2 Rom. When I try to change the boot animation in CM6 it won't go through. I know the boot animation is located in system/media/boot animation.zip and I choose Mount R/W and it still won't change it. Do I have to use another method to change it?

It seems to work whether I put bootanimation.zip in /data/local or /system/media no problem... but the one thing I can't figure out is how to get a sound to play. I've tried every combination I can think of... boot.mp3 in the zip file, android_audio.mp3 in the zip file... tried the zip without the mp3, just placing the mp3 in the same directory as the zip (and also tried both names that way, in both directories stated above). Is there something I'm supposed to add to the desc.txt file? What am I missing? The only info I can find for the Eris is just "put a boot.mp3 in the zip file" which is just not working...

I have seen threads about how to change the boot logo/animation, but no one knows how to remove the animation entirely. I would like the verbose boot to display on start up if possible. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the VanillaDroid ROM installed on 2.1 v2. My phone is rooted. But I don't like the boot animation that came with the ROM, so I decided to change it. In every tutorial I've seen, people mention a "bootanimation.zip". However, I can't find it anywhere on the phone. But I did find the "bootscreen" folder in "/system/media/" with the bootup animations in it. I assumed that if I swap out the animations for the new ones, it would work (reasonable enough right?). Not really. Apparently, I deleted everything in the bootscreen folder, but when I try copying stuff into it from the memory card, it can't find any directory on the memory card through the "adb shell" stuff.
I know the folder with the bootscreen animations and stuff exists on the memory card, but apparently the shell commands say it doesn't exist. So now my phone boots up with no animation or sound. Its nice to have a quiet boot, and it does seem to start up a little faster, but I want a boot screen again. I know if I reflashed the ROM, it would come back (or at least should). But I don't want to have to reset and redownload all my apps and stuff, especially since I have just got everything the way I want. Is there anyway to get the bootup animations back without reflashing? And if I would reflash, since its the same ROM, would I need to do a factory reset?

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy Gmail account works great, and I have my aol and yahoo acounts set up no problem (well the yahoo was a little problem but got it to work so thats all that matters). I have 2 other email accounts that no matter what I do I can not get them to work. One is my works email which is handled by a company called network solutions. I can get the incoming server setup fine but I can not get the outgoing to work. The other is my school email which is some sort of msn email account variation (username@email.itt-tech.edu which i log into through msn.com). I cant get anything to work for this accuont.

View 4 Replies View RelatedFor some reason I lost the "Droid" sound when I boot. On any rom, stock, Liquid, some other Rom, custom ani's and everything. I think I even lost it when I upgraded to 2.2 non-root. Is there a quick fix for this (don't think I'm confident enought to start mod'ing bootanimation.zip files yet)? Or someone have an ani that I can push that has a confirmed sound with it to just see if I did something wrong earlier?
