When i am the hope page and i push the browser button i get a white screen. Isn't google or a home page supposed to come up. the way i get to a web page then is to hit the magnifying glass (which brings me to google search). isn't a homepage supposed to come up when i hit that browser button. how do i make that happen?

my brand new samsung fascinate just went white. I went to push the button on the side to unlock it, and just lit up white. I went to do a hard reset and it did not solve the problem. When i restart phone, i can hear the phone start up music, and the soft buttons on the front work, but all i see is bright white. I had someone call me, and my phone rang, yet all i saw was a bright screen. When it goes idol to black, it wont turn back on at all.

I haven't had a problem until tonight.
I was using the stock browser on MySpace, finished what I was doing, logged out and used the back key to get back to the home screen, which I always do. I could never get back to the home screen, the farthest back it would take me was to the original MySpace login screen and I had to hit the home key to get back to the home screen.
When I now try to open the browser, it acts like it is loading, I see the status bar, which loads all the way, but other than that, the screen is completely white and stays that way - the whole screen is white and never does anything.
Could this have been caused by MySpace or maybe a browser issue that happened to occur while I was on MySpace?
I have cleared cache, cleared all data, rebooted a few times, force stopped it, killed it with advanced task manager and everything else I could think of.
Verizon just sent me my new Eris after mine decided to stop connecting to google. Maybe I never noticed this before, or maybe it is a defect. But, if you go to an all white screen, do you see black pixels spread out evenly like a grid on your screen?

Is this normal?
When I use the back button to get to the home screen it does no do this.
today, as I was setting up my phone, the screen stopped locking when I push on the red button (on the right). this is usually how I lock my phone before putting it in my pocket but now it doesn't work. Is there a setting that can control this or is it a glitch?

Now, i am rooted. But I really dont think it's my rom as I hadn't noticed it before.
I think It might be Shapewriter Keyboard... but i am not sure. Before everyone tells me to use Swype... i do. But i like Shapewriter because of different languages.
Anyway, when i hold down the text field, i dont see "input method" anymore. I see this:

It's very weird. Everything works fine. Anyone have any ideas?
I also noticed it when an app force closed. I had the same type of symbols on the force close button.
I notice on my eris that when i am on a menu with a black background that if i hit my back (bottom button) a little firmly, right above the button on the lcd kind of changes colors. Like if you press your laptop screen, its only a little bit though. If you could, please try this and report back.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have the Droid X but I noticed that the Droid 2 now has a themed version of Swype to fit in with the rest of the UI. I like it a lot.
My question is this. When you push the voice-to-text button does it pop up a window like earlier versions of Swype or does it do the really fast and slick thing that the multi touch keyboard does (just replace the keyboard with the audio waveform thing).
When your on the home screen and hold down the Menu button it doesn't open the keyboard.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI want to add my gmail settings to the native mail app and use that for gmail instead of using the gmail app. I dont like how you cant attach a file other than a photo using the gmail app and I like the layout of the native mail app.If you add your gmail account to the native mail app can you still receive push email? I plan on disabling the sync settings for google in the main settings but that shouldn't affect an account added to the main mail app.

View 13 Replies View RelatedWell I managed to get my hands on an X from my local VZW store this morning. First impression of the screen is that it is very washed out when compared to my old Droid. Side by side, the original Droid shows colors very vividly while the Droid X almost looks like it just made it past black and white. Just wanted to get some opinions on the screen from others. I also managed to play with a Samsung Vibrant at a T-mobile store and it was very beautiful, almost makes me want to return the X and wait for the fascinate to come out on VZW.

If I open up the keyboard (so the screen becomes horizontal) the line also turns horizontal but doesn't go all the way across the screen (just extends the distance of the vertical width of the phone) The line does not appear when I log in, so it's not dead pixels. I tried changing the wallpaper, didn't do anything. Tried taking out the batter, but also didn't do anything. I tried the pixel fixer app, but again it's not dead pixels so obviously that didn't do anything either. Suggestions? I suppose the next step is to restore the phone to factor defaults (how do I do that?), unless someone has something else I can try
View 34 Replies View RelatedI'm running White Widow 4.6 with Google Apps installed and JIT on. Not all of my FB contacts are syncing with my phone contacts. For example, my sister is not linked to any FB profile when she should be. The names match up. Most of the people are, but some aren't. I can't find a way to link it manually to her FB profile. All of my contacts sync'd fine with the stock OS. Anybody else have this issue? Do you have a solution? I had the same problem in KaosFroyo v23 and never found a solution.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy emails are showing up in the gmail app at sporadic intervals; sometimes they show up immediately while other times I only receive the email if I refresh within the app itself. I noticed this after I manually did the update last Friday on my Eris. Emails are showing up rather quickly on 3G, but hardly at all on wifi. I'm testing this by sending myself emails to the gmail account from a non-gmail account on the laptop. I saw over in the Moto Droid forum that some users there are experiencing gmail push slowness/problems.

The UI is a little smoother. Anyway, I noticed that you can now have it check under 15 minutes. So I set it to 5, which is as close to "push" as I can think of. I noticed today that my battery was draining quicker than usual. Would checking every 5 minutes run the battery more than K-9's "push"? I was comfortable with K-9's push. Wondering if anyone else had this issue or thoughts on it.

I just got my white Evo and the menu button light is different than the home, back and search buttons. Is everyone's elses like this? I wonder if this is intentional but I can't see why it would be.
View 11 Replies View RelatedOne of the first things I've noticed about the Samsung (coming from the iphone) is how blue-greenish the background is within the browser.The difference is striking when the iphone is side to side with the Vibrant.It makes the reading mobile pages such as m.cnn.com a whole lot more difficult, relatively speaking.Anyone else notice this? I've also taken notice of this on a friend's Droid, although not as pronounced.Is this common to Android devices? I would think that the Vibrant screen could deliver a bright white with no color imbalances and should surpass the quality on the 3G(S) iphone.

View 3 Replies View Relatedhow to implement a small project. I have the control logic figured out I am just new to android development to have a full handle on the task at hand.
I have essentially a 5x4 matrix of buttons that I want to at random light up in a randomized time between 6 and 30 seconds between light up.. The person needs to push the button back in to reset it before 5 seconds or a small red X appears over the button. If the person misses more than 3 times the screen flashes red for a second before resetting the red Xs and the count starts over. There is also a reset button that will reset the counts and start over again and a exit button that will bring up a results page that has how many hits and misses and elapsed time. It should also create a small graph that shows the % correct over time.
