Android :: Send DTMF Tones During Call

One feature which i did not fiund on the Android 2.0 is the ability to send DTMF tones during a call using the contacts list. Whilst on a call i would like to be able to select contacts and send that contact as a DTMF tone. I've sean all the different dialler apps. but nothing allows you to select from the contacts list.Is this a feature upcoming in the Android OS updates or is there already an app. that anyone knows about that allows this feature, which is common on all other mobile os's?

I have an application that calls a number stored by the user. Everything works okay unless the number contains commas or hash signs, in which case the Uri gets truncated after the digits. I have read that you need to encode the hash sign but even doing that, or without a hash sign, the commas never get passed through. However, they do get passed through if you just pick the number from your contacts. I must be doing something wrong. Code...

I am writing an application that calls IVR Systems. For example a Customer Service line where 3 or 4 options or the telephone number must be sent after the call is made. I don't remember where but I remember that if you were to put in comma's , it would be a pause so I am trying to dial a number such as "tel:555555,0,2,3" which should dial 55555 then it should send 0 with a pause then 2, pause, and then 3. Just called 3 and their system says press 1 for "this" and press 2 for "that" etc. However when I press 1 2 3 etc I do hear a tone but it is not recognised, is their end or is it my Hero!

I'm trying to write a convenience app that needs to bring up the active dialer for a connected call, but I'm having issues after trying a couple of approaches.
ACTION_DIAL - I've tried starting a new dialing activity and while this brings up a new dialer, it's not connected to the existing call so pressing buttons on the new dialer produces no dial tones on the receiver's end.
ToneGenerator - Created my own little dialer activity and hooked up ToneGenerator calls in response to button clicks, but then found out that it only generates tones in the dialer's earpiece and not on the receiver's side.
So... Is there any way to programmatically send dial tones to an active call? Any way to bring up the dialer of the active call and not the dialer for a new call?

I am working on one android application... I want to send DTMF tone on ongoing call....after googling i saw in some post that right now its not possible... is android build any api for froyo? Normally using "," I can send DTMF but after call establish how to do? How by default Dialer is able to send DTMF on ongoing call...HTC also build there own Dialer..Then How they are doing?

How do you programatically do this in the Android SDK:
Dial a phone number
Bypass the keypad screen
Send additional DTMF after the number is dialed
Bypass the send DTMF tone prompt
I have managed to do 1 till 3 by dialing +555-1212w1234 but I am wondering if anyone knows how to bypass the send DTMF tone prompt.

Is there a way to make custom ringtones easily and send them to your phone? This is my first real smartphone (had a Storm gen 1 before this, it didn't work often enough for me to consider it my first) and I'm enjoying it but I'm a bit of a nub.

I'm probable being very stupid but despite trawling the forum and looking though the PDF manual I can't see how to enter tones during a call. EG for menu options.
Hitting "Menu" during a call severs the call (is it supposed to do this?).
There is a grid icon on the bottm of the screen which I thought was the one I wanted.

I just installed motorola media link on to my computer and it is amazing. I think this is a must download for all Motorola owners. It allows you to easily download music, photos, and more either on your phone or onto your computer from your phone. It also allows you to create ring tones and send them to your phone. Its like itunes for the iphone.

Have the phone. Went through all the fun of finding my own prefered ring tone - well I made it from a song, and another ring tone for other uses.
Set them up, set the "Message" tone, set the alarm tone and all was good.
It wasn't long after that I bought a SANDISC8 gig SD card.
Coppied ALL files over and swapped the cards.
I am not sure exactly WHEN the problem started, but it still exists.
Now and then the phone is in my pocket and it starts making a sound. It isn't one I selected, so ignore it until it becomes obvious it is mine as no-one else is talking on their phone.
I look and it is a message/phone call/alarm.
They are NOT the ones I set. So I go through the process of seting them back to what I like.
Someone says it could be a dicky SD card. I shall test that soon by putting back the original one and seeing what happens. The only problem with that is that it is SO INTERMITANT that it is hard to know if it is or not really the problem.

In the root of your SD card create the following folders
Notifications
Ringtones
Alarms
In these folders put your favourite MP3 files. You can now use these MP3 files as per the topic.
Notifications - Message tones and Notification tones
Ringtones - Your phone ringtones
Alarms - Your alarm mp3s
Using these folders there is no need to play the MP3 files first in Music Player.

I have researched extensively and am pretty sure this is not possible. I want to make a call and then inject DTMF when the far end answers. So 2 questions Is it possible ?
If not, how do I work to get it on the list of upcoming features to be provided on Android. I can say that this is possible on BlackBerry and Symbian, so Android is falling behind in this regard.

Are ther any existing Android application, working similar to the following working steps
1. Automatic receive the call, then
2. Play some sound out to the caller, wait for DTMF response, then
3. Record the caller sound (in the case that they permit, by pressing 1 as DTMF response)
4. Callee can play back the recoreded sound later.If there aren't any, is it possible now for provided Android SDK to develop it.

Is there any way I can dynamically generate uplink DTMF tone (ie the receiver hears it)?When I looked at the android source code I saw a function called startDTMF() which is exactly what I need, but I couldn't find any API that allows me to access that function.I then thought of using ToneGenerator and tried to inject the sound to the mic stream, and again I couldn't find a way to achieve this.

In android we can make a call by using intent. Similarly we can invoke receivers on the in coming call. I have implemented an application to make a call as well as to receive call using intents. My question is we can pass data using intents. The same thing if i am apply to my application i got the data as null.

I have problems simulating call or sms since telnet or ddms perspective on eclipse. I'm connected to the device and some commands works (window scale,...)If i try to simulate a gsm call then everything seems ok but i haven't anything on my emulator (nor incoming call nor notification) then if i launch an "gsm list" command my inbound call is listed and i can cancel it the same thing occurs with sms send everything seems ok (return OK) but there is no notification on the emulator nor sms in inbox :-(
I'm using the sdk r06 on a windows xp machine. I try with fresh avd on different platform :-(
Important : it has worked so i know it can work, but i would like to know why it doesn't work now ! Using ddms i don't see any trace on the log view.

My phone has worked without a problem till last nite. I had a few texts and calls early eve with no issues at all then later on when I tried a text it kept giving me a 'message not sent' message? At first I thought it was an Orange issue so didn't worry too much but this am it's still the same? On doing a bit of investigating I have found I can no longer make calls either. If I try it it doesn't even get too a dial tone it just beeps and returns to the initial call screen.
The phone is showing full signal strength? When I go too call settings>additional settings it shows 'network or SIM error'. I have put my SIM into another phone and it works fine and another SIM that I know works into my Desire and have the same issues so it must be the handset. What do you lot suggest? If I do a factory reset will I loose all my photos etc. from my memory card? Or could I just un-mount it and then reset?
