HTC Desire :: Heating Up While Using Google Nav And Shutting Down

Oct 14, 2010

I have a Desire running Froyo, when I'm using the Google Nav the phone tends to get very hot and (i assume) that upon reaching a certain temperature shuts down and re boots. Usually just when I'm totally lost! If i hold the phone in front of a vent with the air conditioning on to cool down its fine again, if i don't then once the nav is restarted it will shut down the phone again. The air conditioning trick isn't the answer as i have to sit in a freezing cold car in the middle of winter in order to use my sat nav. Is this a fault?

HTC Desire :: Heating Up When Internet Browsing And Battery Drains Quickly

Aug 9, 2010

I noticed that my Desire is heating up when Im internet browsing and the battery drains very quickly (100% to 10% in 1.5hour). Strange, because when Im not browsing the battery lasts for 2 days long. It happens only when I use it for a heavy Internet browsing or Market browsing (when it uses heavy data transfer). I use an unlimited data plan in Brazil. It occurs when I use the Wifi too. I looks like when Im tethering, but Im not.
Can it be something about processor clock control? Ive upgraded to 2.2 recently.

HTC Desire HD :: Shutting Down When Locked?

Nov 3, 2010

Whenever I lock the phone it has recently starting turning itself off. It also did this when I answered a call yesterday then took it away from my ear and it was off.

Is there any issues with using the 'power' button to lock the phone and unlock it? It's extremely annoying and I've installed the latest software patch.

HTC Desire :: Keeps Shutting Off Or Going In Sleep Mode?

Sep 29, 2010

I just bought the phone, and have been charging it for a half hour or so, and it keeps shutting off(or going in sleep mode) while I am trying to set it up.

My first thought is that it needs to charge; I admit, I barely let it charge right out of the box because I am so anxious to use it. Is that the issue? I assumed that even if the batter is at 5-10%, shouldn't it work without issue if it is plugged in to the wall and charging? I will let it charge another hour or so, but I just cannot wait to get my hands on it.

HTC Desire :: Started Overheating And Shutting Off After About 5 Minutes Of Web Browsing?

Nov 16, 2010

About a month ago my HTC Desire started overheating and shutting off after about 5 minutes of web browsing. I've rooted it and all but I dont have a backup of the original recovery and unrooted stock ROM (for telus). Today it felt like it was going to catch on fire while it was in my pocket (it wasnt being used as I was in the middle of a class). I figure that I cant wait any longer for Telus to release an update that would allow me to unroot my phone so can anyone who has a stock telus desire please send me a backup of their stock ROM!

HTC Droid Eris :: Extreme Heating Up?

Jul 7, 2010

I posted a while back about my Eris heating up. Today I was on the phone to tech support for a computer issue. I had it on speaker phone and was on hold for about 30 minutes or so. I picked it up and it was so hot I dropped it. I checked the temp: 145.5f. I snapped a quick picture then put it in the freezer which has since cooled it down to 80f. I KNOW something has to be wrong with my phone but I have gone into the Verizon store already and they told me they can't do anything because I'm running the leaked version and that is most likely the problem. I called Verizon and they told me to go into the store. What should/can I do? Should I go in again with the new picture and show them?

HTC Incredible :: Phone Is Constantly Over Heating

Jul 18, 2010

Phone has been overheating all morning. From 8am to 12:40pm until I plugged it on the charger. Now its just warm. The battery completely drained and I never even had any apps running. I used the app killer to make sure I wasn't running anything. I barely used the phone this morning except for three text messages and sent an email. I just got a new battery sent from Verizon, I don't understand why it spazzed out on me.

Motorola Droid :: Rooted - Device Heating Up For No Apparent Reason

May 13, 2010

I rooted my droid, and am currently running smoked glass 6. Twice I have noticed my phone heating up (120 F was the most before I pulled the battery) for no apparent reason. I open up auto-killer, kill extra processes, and no difference. No application can be causing this, yet my phone will heat up for no reason. It is not all the time, but I fear it could become a regular thing.

General :: MTK 6582 (Quad Core 1.3gHz) CPU Heating Up / Undervolt GPU

Jan 5, 2014

I have a note 3 mediatek device (mtk6582) and when i play games or just using it for more than 30-40 min. It gets really hot, i mean really hott..{90c}....(especially when i'm playing games). And I think it may be beacause of GPU (mali 400) but I cant find a way to undervolt it... I think I must have custom kernel to do that...so any other method to undervolt the gpu.

But I also think that it could be the battery that is not the best quality...and if the battery is not that good can this heat up the cpu. (or generally the motherboard).

HTC Eris :: Phone Keeps Shutting Off

Jul 21, 2010

Well good news is I woke up this morning to the update!! Sweet...Or so I thought, Long story short I let it do it things while I was getting ready this morning (30min) and it seemed to work fine (Not 100% sure, wasn't really looking at my phone while driving), then all of a sudden on my ride to work it caught my eye and reset itself, No biggie, then again and again and again...and you guessed it AGAIN!! it won't stop resetting itself! I tried to take out the battery but that didn't work and I'm not going to do the "hard reset" until I show Verizon what it's doing....So has anyone else had this problem after receiving the newest update?

Android :: Application Not Shutting Down GPS

Nov 19, 2009

I have two apps that take advantage of GPS. The recommendation of the SDK is for setting up the location listener is to set time at 60000ms or 1 minute. My tests show if you use that number when exiting the app it may not shutdown GPS. Even using the call to stop location updates when onStop is called doesn't necessary help. In fact one test app doesn't have that call and may shut down anyway on exit. When the number is reduced (as in some examples I found online) to 100 ms then it usually always shuts down. IOW, the satellite icon disappears as it should. I've read some posts here and elsewhere but this issue seems to still be open.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I would think the 1 minute update might be appropriate for a program that will stay open for awhile. My users may only look at the program temporarily and not need updates over a long time. So I'm thinking of leaving the value at 100 ms which seems to work.

I got a battery dock, i placed the battery in it instead of charging via the phone, it lasts all day! thats it, for whatever reason this works. I no longer have to even charge while at work. Its that simple. I know it kinda sucks but oh well. It just has something to do with the way htc has the phone charge for a while and then stop and the rest of the time its back on battery even while on the phone charger.

General :: Jiayu G4 Shutting Down

Nov 20, 2013

I've had the phone for 2 months without any issues (other than the crappy GPS and compass) and about a week ago, all of a sudden it started to randomly turn itself off. At about the same time it completely destroyed the SD card, after warning me a few times that it was 'unexpectedly removed' which always fixed itself on its own within a few minutes - anyway, gutted about losing all my precious data but I suppose it's otherwise unrelated, the new card runs OK so far.

The shutdowns occur on average 3 times a day and the phone can't be turned on without removing the battery, which is the biggest annoyance. Running stock G4W 20130819-085550 (upgraded from previous version but not sure what that was) but even tried MIUI 3.11.16 by sta-s2z - same problem. Bought it from uredeal.com which appears to be down so can't even ask about warranty. Not aware of installing anything that could be the cause.

Some logs from CatLog are attached, surprised by the huge number of errors, some fatal in case of the 2nd and 3rd log but they don't seem to be the same cause (?) also suppose the 1st log might not have any fatal errors only cos I had the write period set too long, then reduced it to 5 lines.

Samsung I7500 :: Shutting Off Itself After Flashing

Sep 16, 2009

So I flashed my phone early this morning with H7 (I'm in the US - I don't think the H8 with that German/UK CSC file will work for me). Was running GREAT! Seriously, I finally was able to get Internet anywhere and have Market and use the phone like I'd wanted to when I bought it. Then about an hour ago - coincidentally, shortly after I bought my first paid Market application - I picked it up and it was unresponsive. It had shut itself off. I push and hold the power button, and the "Samsung Galaxy" splash screen appears for a second or two and then it dies. When I try plugging it in, the same thing happens with the battery icon: shows up for a second or two and then dies. I was able to get into download mode stably, so I tried to reflash. Odin said everything went fine, but the insta-dying remains.

HTC Incredible :: Shutting Down And Not Turning Back On1

Jun 11, 2010

Ok, this is really strange about 3 days ago my Incredible would just randomly turn off (the battery wasn't even close to being an issue.) When I tried to turn the power on the phone would not respond at all. If I take the battery out and put it back in, the phone will boot just fine....This has happened 4 or 5 times in the last 3 days. Additionally today for some other strange reason I was on a call and the phone randomly would end the call. I wasn't hitting the end key on accident I had the phone on speaker, so I am not sure if its a related issue.
