Been using internet brilliantly for about a month on HTC Desire right up to a couple of days ago after an update. Now it refuses to connect to any type of internet, 3G or WiFi.
I'm on contract with 3 (despite bad repuation in the past they appear to have caught up with other providers), but am still waiting to see if it is a problem on their side.

I have a HTC desire on Orange, I currently get 500 mb of data which im using up really fast with app downloads etc. Ive hooked up to my Wi-fi router now, so if I turn on the wi-fi and connect to the internet at home will this use my ISP data not my mobile data allowance?
View 2 Replies View RelatedInteresting issue. I recently set up a repeater in my house to boost my router signal. I assigned the same ssid and wep key as my router to the repeater. Since it's been connected I can't connect to the internet from my LG Optimus S while wi-fi is on--it says page can't be displayed. I'm definitely connected to my home network. When I disable wi-fi I connect easily with 3g. Did I configure the repeater incorrectly, or is it an issue with the phone settings.

I can successfully connect to the internet via wifi anywhere but at my place of employment (very frustrating). The Dinc sees and connects to the wifi but when I open the browser the following pop up window appears: Security warning

I just got an unlocked samsung galaxy s. I have centennial but this phone was thru At&t. I cant get it to connect to internet except wifi when I am around it. I also cannot download picture messages. I have tried several apn settings and nothing has worked. I have a data plan thru centennial as well.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am getting Samsung Vibrant to replace my wife's Behold II. She doesn't have a data plan but was able to use Wi-Fi to connect to internet with Behold II. I assume, that's the case with Vibrant too. Does any one know, is that's true? I am sure to get comments from few that what's the point of having smart phone without data plan but my wife doesn't need it and don't want it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had a Galaxy Tab for 2 years, and used it, very successfully, as a wifi hotspot from May until July this year, when my laptop was suddenly not able to connect to the internet via the hotspot. It connected just fine to the Tab, and has no problems on my home wifi. The Tab was still able to connect to the internet normally, with no apparent problems.
I fiddled about a bit and thought perhaps it was a hardware problem, so bought a seconhand Nexus S. That has been working fine until yesterday, when the exact same thing has happened - the laptop can connect fine to the Nexus, but says there is no internet connection. The Nexus itself is connecting just fine.
I'm in the UK - my carrier is Three (Hutchinson).
My HTC EVO 4G LTE is having a major problem. When connected to my home modem it will not connect to the internet at all. When I disconnect wifi in the settings the phone will crawl along at Sprint 3G speeds. Laptops, tvs, chromecast and Roku are all working properly from the same modem. I've reset the modem, restarted the phone numerous times, just updated the phone (was happening before and after the update) and still no luck. I've scoured the internet looking for answers but nothing so far.

Is there a way to allow my HTC Desire to connect to the internet via USB using the connection my PC has to the internet (i.e. using it as a gateway)? I know that you can use the phone to allow the PC to connect to the web - but is the opposite possible as well?

View 14 Replies View RelatedGot the phone on Monday and have just been getting my head around it but mainly at home and on wifi out and about today and realised it just will not use mobile broadband this is despite it being set (I think) to use mobile internet when no wifi. I tried to search and it seems lots of people have some sort of problem like this. when I'm in wireless settings and networks and push the connect to mobile network button, I just get a 'connection failed due to incorrect APN setting message' though having looked at it it looks right general.t-mobile.uk. nothing I do seems to change this (switching wifi off, walking out of range, leaving it on)
one thing I have also noticed though is I have never seen any g,h, e etc by the signal strenth indicator (which is normally only 1 or 2 bars - i.e. poor). so I assume it's just not finding 3g etc signal, despite the t-mobile website mobile broadband checker saying its been good strength in all the places Ive been today! I've also tried repeated power off and on again and airplane mode, then switching this off. this is really winding me up now as its a great phone but not if you cant use it's mobile internet functions when out and about.
I am using laptop and connected to wifi network. I have started the android emulator and open the browser to browse. But it is not working. thrown error saying network connection not available. But I am able to browse in my laptop. How I can enable emulator to use wifi network for internet?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have recently updated to Froyo/2.2 on my HTC Desire (on Vodafone contract). According to Vodafone this is now the standard HTC firmware with none of their nonsense installed. Now I cannot connect to wifi either at home or work. It can see the wireless networks OK, but gets stuck in a loop trying to connect - it seems to be trying to obtains an IP address, gives up and starts again endlessly. Having searched around the web this seems to be a common 2.2 issue. I've tried many times with forgetting the credentials, etc and have done the full factory reset. Not sure what to do next.

For some reason, over the last week or so I'm finding that I have to restart my WiFi connection to connect to the net. The web pages just wont load, but as soon as I restart it, they load fine. This goes the same for the Market. As far as I know NOTHING has changed on my phone as far as WiFi goes, and my Rom has worked just fine till this issue started.

After trying to connect, laptop says connection unsuccessful and has only limited internet access- which means i can't access my internet at all T.T
I am in a deployed location in Afghanistan and within my compound, we utilize satellite internet and broadcast it via WIFI just for us who have paid. Some of the guys here have implemented a few security features so other people around us can hack our network. The WIFI is encrypted with WPA2 and a password.After that to surf on the internet on my laptop I have to input a proxy address of 10.10.8.2, I can connect to the wireless via my Desire, but I cant surf the internet, check email, or do anything that requires a data connection.Other people here have no problem getting their Ipod touches and Iphones on the WIFI.Is there some setting I am over looking because to me there are not a lot of settings I can change in the first place.If I need to download a program to help, please give info how to do so without an internet connection directly on the phone.

View 20 Replies View RelatedI have a factory unlocked HTC Desire with the official 2.2 froyo firmware installed. When I turn on the wifi using the inbuilt HTC wifi widget, it takes about 10-15 seconds before the phone connects to my wifi router and the wifi icon is shown in the notification bar. I am using a Dlink dir-655 router. The settings that I have on the router are as follows:-
wireless mode: 802.11g only
encryption: wpa2 personal AES
mac filtering on (phone's mac address has been added to the list)
SSID is hidden
Other devices such as my laptop and nintendo wii connect to the wifi router within seconds.
I go out into cities alot, and I usualy grab a coffee in either a Costa, or a Nero. These both have BTFON WiFi hotspots. At the moment I can connect to these as I have BT Openworld at home. However, my BT contract is being cancelled tomorrow, they're bloody expensive, and as a result, my access to these hotspots will stop unless I subscribe to thier BTFON service.
If I stop my Desire connecting to these by switching off WIFI, will the phone then automatically switch to 3G for internet access?
