HTC Desire :: Force Application To Move To Sd Card

Aug 16, 2010

Anyway I used the ''force apps to sd'' thingy, where you change the install location by connecting your phone to your PC and use commandprompt. You know: Lorin Bute - Home - How to force apps to move to the SD card onFroyo. Everything worked great until recently when the phone became unable to install many apps when microsd was chosen as the install location and some apps still wont install even with the setting set back to default. I can still force already installed apps to move to sd. One other odd thing is that I tried to install a GPS app and the installation failed (with the default install location). Then I quit almost all running processes using the built in process manager and then the install worked. After a reboot I tried to replicate my actions but no matter what I did I could no longer install the same app. My phone's inability to install some apps appears to be completely random. What's worse is that I installed froyo around the same time so maybe it has a part to play in my problem.

Motorola Droid :: Cannot Force To Move Applications To SD Card

Jun 13, 2010

I am trying to move a couple of apps onto my SD card. I know you long press the app you want to move, and select the choice to move it. is TiBu shows the notification of it being moved. I then go back into setting, look at the apps on SD card, and they do not show up. I am running NexBeast FRF57 V0.1.1. My Titanium Backup is at version 3.2.4, I can reboot, still doesnt work. Superuser shows Titanium has permissions, so I am not sure what the deal is.

General :: HTC Desire HD - Move APP To SD Card?

Jan 11, 2013

I have a rooted HTC Desire HD with a custom ROM (Android RevolutionHD).

I have heard a lot of about moving the apps to the SD card to save space in the memory's phone, but does it really usefull apart of "saving memory"? or it can make slower the phone's boot because loading apps from the sd?

Need to know more about advantages and disadvantages of moving apps to the SD.

My priority is a faster / smoother phone UI and boot, being the memory space not so important.

I have some 80MB left on the phones memory, I have downloaded a lot of apps, tried them and deleted most of them (but far from all). There are still a lot of apps I would like to DL and try out, but before doing that I would like to move as much as possible to the SD card, it says I have 3.67 GB available, so plenty of room. However When I go to Applications--> Manage Applications the ption to move them to the SD card is grayed out and the option is not available to me. What do I need to do to turn it on?

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Install Application Or Move Internal Memory To SD Card?

Aug 30, 2010

Anyways I have just got myself a Sony Ericsson X10 and it's my first Android phone. I have upgraded from a Samsung Omnia running WinMo 6.5 and I must say I'm enjoying Android so much more already As I'm completely new to Android I have a few questions:

1, Installing Apps - The SE X10 only has 256MB internal memory and I have a 8GB memory card inside, I have noticed nearly everything I download installs to the internal memory. With my Omnia you can choose where to install it, is there a way to force it to install to the SD card or move it from the internal memory to the SD card?

2, Charging - For the first time ever I have never have come across a phone that fully turns it's self on from being fully turned off when a charger is plugged in and turned on. With any rechargeable device you need to give them a good charge (16+ hours) to give them a good life. But how can I do that as the battery is being used as its charging?

3, I've seen some stuff about rooting? I kinda understand it but what is the benefit of doing it? Is it risky? Is there any cons?

HTC Desire :: Move Applications To Sd Card On Unrooted Device

Sep 12, 2010

This requires Froyo 2.2
It doesn't void your warranty
It doesn't delete existing apps
It's perfectly safe
It doesn't require rooting.

I realise there are a few threads about this, but I thought I would make a new one for my easier guide, and hopefully people will find it more easily as they won't have to scroll through pages of other threads to find an answer. I am now successfully running most apps from my SD Card now. I just thought I would make an easier guide as the others are fairly complex for noobs like me............

HTC Desire :: Partitioning SD Card - "Move To Phone"?

Oct 30, 2010

I've been reading up on partitioning my SD Card for the Apps 2 SD functionality. Few n00b questions to clear up if I can! 1) Once partitioned, I believe that all app data will be able to be installed on the SD, as opposed to leaving a few hundred KB's on the internal? If I make a direct copy of all SD Card contents, partition the SD, and copy back, will the App's still appear 'as normal', or is a fresh backup/install required? 2) If the answer to the first question is that I CAN simply copy back to the SD, can I then use the "Move to Phone" and "Move to SD Card" options to move ALL of the app data, including the original few hundred KB's originally on internal? Feel like a douche asking these just can't quite get my head around it trawling through the other threads.

HTC EVO 4G :: Move Applications To SD Card

Aug 17, 2010

Anyway, we all got 2.2 now and can "move apps to the SD" card. I presume one might want to move apps to the SD card to "free up some space" but is that the ONLY reason to move the apps to the card?? Is anyone NOT WAITING until space on the phone is an issue and moving the apps to the card right now?? Are there certain apps that are recommended to be on the phone for proper/faster performance? (I know this was an issue with the Palm Centro I used to have where certain apps HAD TO reside on and launch from the phone)?? What are the general pros/cons (if any, besides "saving space," perhaps regarding performance or other concerns) with leaving apps on the phone vs. the SD card?
