My People seems to be syncing with Facebook fine (their status updates show up, and it uses their FB profile photo), but when I select "View Facebook Profile", I get the following error message: "The application People (process com.android.htccontacts) has stopped unexpectedly. Force Close."

View 8 Replies View RelatedHaving a bit of an issue with my HTC Wildfire (Stock standard UK version, not rooted), I don't think it's a specific issue to the phone so thought posting here would be the best bet but feel free to move the thread if there is a better spot for it.
Basically when I try to view certain contacts details through the People app it will force close. All contacts were originally on the sim and have now all been moved to Gmail Contacts and removed from the sim, there are no contacts stored solely on the phone and no facebook contacts either. It only appears to be certain people (the majority still work), they will be working fine for weeks and then one day they will stop working and from then onwards if I try to view their details or access them from the People app it will force close. It generally seems to be regular contacts rather than ones not viewed very often.
I've been searching the web for similar problems and haven't had any luck, the only similar issue seem to involve using the People app with Facebook contacts which hasn't been accessed or syched on this phone.
I've attached an extract from the system log with some of the error details (Unhandled Exceptions, BinderDied and Permissions issues) ... anyone have any ideas on how to fix the problem?

"whatever" now my market will not open and the people app keeps force closing, if anyone could offer any fixes it would be greatly appreciated. i did do a wipe cache and divche cache or whatever that spelling is. i did not do a factory reset as i thought i might lose my root that way, was i supposed to do that wipe also. is there a 3rd party app that could be conflicting. my apologies if this question has already been posted, ive searched this forum and xda and the net to no avail on fixing this specific problem on my evo.

View 23 Replies View RelatedI was trying to view a regular PC version of a site and somebody in a comment said its easier to fake a User Agent through about:debug so I did and no since I changed it to desktop it wont open and force closes. I saved a log of the crash if you guys want to see it. I just came from the iPhone world so this stuff is a tad different.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have to say that this default Application is truly simple and easy to deal with, and that makes it all the more significant in my view. However, I am running into an odd problem, and I would like to see if anyone has had the same experience, and/or could offer their assistance in this matter.
I have linked all of my contacts to their FB profiles, and all seems to work extremely well. However, for reasons beyond my understanding, when I attempt to click on the "Album" icon (To view the photographs of a FB Friend), this App. always makes me go through a "Force Close". This ONLY happens with ONE of my contacts though, as with every other contact I still retain the ability to view their FB Photo Albums. I was thinking that the one contact in question here, possibly has too many photographs for this App. to handle(?), but I can get it to work on a very rare occasion despite such.
I would really like to hear from folks in regard to this issue, because it's puzzling, and somewhat irritating.
I have rebooted, and I have also taken the particular FB profile off of my contact list, and then re-applied it (All to no avail).

For some reason Handcent keeps force closing all of a sudden. I haven't noticed this before & its happened about 4 times.

I have factory reset, uninstalled everything, still the same. If I clear the cookies, cache, etc, and remove my homepage of google.co.uk, it seems fine. The T-Mobile default homepage works fine if I type a capital A. If I set Google.co.uk, and type a capital A, it force closes.
Hmm....and after a bit of digging....it only seems to do it on Google Mobile sites. Classic Google.com and .co.uk are fine. Google force loses, as does .com/m.
Anyone have the same issue, or know whats causing this?
I was wondering if there was a way to see who is or isn't using your application on Facebook. For example, sets say I have an application X that a user Y has just connected to. I want to find out if Y's friend Z has allowed X or not.Then, if friend Z has not allowed/used X with Facebook before.I want to invite that friend to use X.Is there any way to do this using the GraphAPI and the Facebook-android-sdk?

Is their anyway I can rectify this? When I try to edit the contact it does not give me the option to unlink said contact from facebook. 1. I received a text message from my credit card company, who are not in my contacts list. The phone has listed the sender as a random facebook contact who is not in my 'people' list. How has this happened and how can I fix it?
2. I have used some of my friends facebook profile photos in my people list. However, when they update their profile picture, the photo does not change on my phone. Can I do anything about this?
I have an incredibly annoying problem with my People contacts, where if I link a contact's Facebook account to their profile on my phone, People also decides to add in their phone numbers! This means I end up with duplicate phone numbers to choose from (for example, when selecting a contact to send an SMS to) or numbers that have been incorrectly added to Facebook by the contact (made up numbers or incorrect international dialing codes). All I want is to link the Facebook account and NOT have the contact details automatically added. The only contacts I have set up to view in People are my Google contacts - 'Facebook for HTC Sense' is unticked.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have all of my contacts linked to their respective facebook accounts, but the pictures that show up when I go to my People never update with the facebook pictures, they have stayed the same since the day I linked the two regardless of how many times the person has changed their default picture since then. Is there any way for me to change this so the pictures in my People update with facebook? Since they are linked I assume they should be able to do this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHTC Sense keeps force closing on my EVO. I have turned the phone off and back on and the same happens. If I switch to a HTC scene, as opposed to a Custom scene, it works fine for awhile. I had it working almost a whole day, but HTC sense starting force closing again, once it starts, it keeps doing it, until you change HTC scenes again. If you change to a custom scene, the force close continues. I disabled HTC sense. Now I can't turn HTC sense back on, but I don't really want to if I am going to keep having the same issue.
For now I need to know if anyone else is having HTC Sense force close on them, and if there is a fix, or if it is known what is causing it. I will worry about how to turn it back after I find out why it's doing it and can fix it. I did a search for HTC Sense force closes and could not find anything, so I started this thread.
Now my sms keeps force closing. Even if I just have 2 texts. Anyone else have this issue? I don't want a new phone because I have a full skin protector on.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI installed ADW.Launcher 2 times now. But for some reason I'm getting a lot of force closes. Then when I hit the icon at the bottom to display all my apps; that's even messed up sometime. Is anybody else having this issue? I'm thinking that maybe Beatutful widges or Bettercut is the problem but I'm not sure. I really don't want to uninstall all my apps and install them one at time just to find out what's the problem. But that may be my only choice.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAnyway I used the ''force apps to sd'' thingy, where you change the install location by connecting your phone to your PC and use commandprompt. You know: Lorin Bute - Home - How to force apps to move to the SD card onFroyo. Everything worked great until recently when the phone became unable to install many apps when microsd was chosen as the install location and some apps still wont install even with the setting set back to default. I can still force already installed apps to move to sd. One other odd thing is that I tried to install a GPS app and the installation failed (with the default install location). Then I quit almost all running processes using the built in process manager and then the install worked. After a reboot I tried to replicate my actions but no matter what I did I could no longer install the same app. My phone's inability to install some apps appears to be completely random. What's worse is that I installed froyo around the same time so maybe it has a part to play in my problem.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe SMS keeps force closing on me on my Droid 41/09. Sometimes two or three times a day. When it force closes, it deletes all threads. It even does it when there is only one thread with a few messages in it. I haven't noticed anything specific that causes the force close to happen, it just happens when it wants to. I removed all downlaoded apps and the problem persists. I am using the default messaging app. Is anyone else experiencing this and has anyone found a solution? I absolutely love this phone and it is my first Android device.

I ended up removing Twitter, facebook, etc w/o removing my user ID. Now, accountsync FC's everytime I try to open it. In light of my mistake, how do I correct this issue? View 1 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone with Unrevoked3. Then applied Unrevoked Forever. Then tried to update to 2.2 with the Update.zip method from the google server file. Phone kept rebooting and force closing. Attempted to Unroot which I am not sure I did properly. I also think my phone is still S-off. Tried to update to 2.2 after unrooting and get errors and it aborts. Now I am also worried that I will not be able to receive the OTA update. Any suggestions? Any way to make sure I am unrooted?

I've debloated my sammy stock rom and installed the modified Youtube application. [URL] ......However this one keeps force closing. The same happens with the original application.
To debloat my rom i've used this CWM script (made by me) perhaps did i removed a bit to much.. [URL] ....
Logcat is attached. (in a lame .zip file because XDA cant accept .txt lager than 512 kb )
I've performed the next steps in attempt to fix it myself:
- Reinstalled the app
- Delete its data
- Wipe cache
- Wipe Dalvik
- Wipe data
- Fixed permissions
the screen wont respond to anything. and it just keeps restarting itself... and when it turns to the home page.. it always says htc sense failed.
