I want to move a PDF file onto my miniSD card, but what folder do I put it in? I have inside a "DCIM" folder...
"100ANDRO" seems to be empty
"100MEDIA" seems to be my camera pictures, since my sense UI update.
"camera" seems to be my old camera pictures, before sense UI
"VIDEO" seems to be empty, I assume any video I take would go here.
Where the DCIM folder is I have a couple others, download, ime, reware, rosie_scroll. Should I make the folder in this part? or in one of those folders? an I just make folders? Change their name? I have an HTC Magic if that matters.

I see that both appbrain and the built in Manage Apps application allows for some applications to be moved to the sd card. What's the advantage? What's the disadvantage?

What are the advantages for Inc owners using the move application to SD card feature in Froyo. We have a ton of internal storage. Is there any advantage to doing this?

Anyway I used the ''force apps to sd'' thingy, where you change the install location by connecting your phone to your PC and use commandprompt. You know: Lorin Bute - Home - How to force apps to move to the SD card onFroyo. Everything worked great until recently when the phone became unable to install many apps when microsd was chosen as the install location and some apps still wont install even with the setting set back to default. I can still force already installed apps to move to sd. One other odd thing is that I tried to install a GPS app and the installation failed (with the default install location). Then I quit almost all running processes using the built in process manager and then the install worked. After a reboot I tried to replicate my actions but no matter what I did I could no longer install the same app. My phone's inability to install some apps appears to be completely random. What's worse is that I installed froyo around the same time so maybe it has a part to play in my problem.

Anyways I have just got myself a Sony Ericsson X10 and it's my first Android phone. I have upgraded from a Samsung Omnia running WinMo 6.5 and I must say I'm enjoying Android so much more already As I'm completely new to Android I have a few questions:
1, Installing Apps - The SE X10 only has 256MB internal memory and I have a 8GB memory card inside, I have noticed nearly everything I download installs to the internal memory. With my Omnia you can choose where to install it, is there a way to force it to install to the SD card or move it from the internal memory to the SD card?
2, Charging - For the first time ever I have never have come across a phone that fully turns it's self on from being fully turned off when a charger is plugged in and turned on. With any rechargeable device you need to give them a good charge (16+ hours) to give them a good life. But how can I do that as the battery is being used as its charging?
3, I've seen some stuff about rooting? I kinda understand it but what is the benefit of doing it? Is it risky? Is there any cons?

I'm looking for an app that will display a PDF file that sits on the SD card. Do any of the market apps do that? Anything else available? I've been hesitant to play with the various market apps that talk about PDF viewing for a variety of reasons, but if any of them are known to do what I want, I'll certainly try them.

File is present in sdcard/image.jpg I would like to create my own application (activity). On a button press, the image stored in the sdcard needs to be displayed using the built-in image viewer. On pressing the back button from the Image viewer, it should go back to my running application.

I have the HTC Incredible and my phone started saving photos to phone memory, instead of the SD card. I want to move the photos with Astro File Manager from emmc/DCIM/100MEDIA to the SD card. Is there a way (with Astro or anything else) where I can move all the photos from phone memory to the SD card?

I want to move some files from sdcard to /data/data/myapp/files folder, I can use OpenInputFile and OpenOutputFile and write to it, then delete the original one. But it is slow, so, I tried to use oldFile.Rename(newFile), but it always return false. Any idea? The reason I am doing this is to hide some files from my sdcard, so, nobody can see them.

I am running 2.2 now, and have App 2 SD that lets me move elligable apps to my sd card. I understood that the lastest version of google maps supported being installed to sd card? however my maps app seems to be up to date but is still in the phone memory, I cant move it using the App 2 SD app or by going to settings/applications/manage applications/maps, do I have to stop the app somehow to allow moving it, or can I uninstall it and reinstall the latest version to my sd card from the marketplace?

How come this is the only file manager on the market (that I've found... I went through quite a few) that can open an HTML file from your SD card? I was a loyal user of Estrogen until I found that it couldn't.

I have 10.000+ text messages (sms) om my old phone that I would like to get into my gmail account using the SMS Backup app. So far I have managed - with superb assistance from Boni2K - to get them exported from the old software i had them in (MyPhoneExplorer) as an xml-file that the SMS Backup and Restore app can read.
Problem now is that the SMS Backup and Restore will restore them to the SD-card (it is indicated with a small SD-icon next to the restored messages), and the SMS Backup app only backs up messages from phone memory to GMail. Can I move the restored messages from the SD card memory to the Phone memory?.............

I have an paid app currently selling in the market with its copy protection turned on. I'm thinking about turning this off in order to reduce the size of my app and allow the "move to sd card" function to work. I've read that, in the past, people were having issues when the dev switched the copy protection setting from off to on. Is this still an issue? If users are still having problems then I'll leave things as they are. I understand that copy protection isn't really helping and I should just leave it off, but since I've had it on through several updates now, I'd hate to cause my users grief by changing now.

I'm running android 2.2 froyo. I have installed Facebook and twitter on my phone and when I try to move them to the SD card I can't. To do this I'm using avast! Mobile security and it has an option to do so. The button "move to SD card" is blacked out for Facebook, twitter and steam. Is there anyway I can get these on my SD card? I have very little internal memory so every megabite counts.

What's up with storage, I have downloaded around 70 apps from central and I am up to 43 mb storage, my card is still at 7.32 gb. Anyway to move the apps to the SD or do we just have to wait for froyo? Will the phone become unresponsive or slow once I reach 0 mb or will the data will automatically be used on the SD?

My wife and I both have the Eris and have stayed on 1.5. I got the 2.1 OTA yesterday morning. I've loaded it and am enjoying it quite a bit. I keep checking her phone as we are on the same contract (she's a second line on my contract), but the 2.1 OTA hasn't come into her phone yet. I was wondering if there's a 2.1 file that I would have downloaded OTA, that I can move over to her phone and manually install.

So I finally DL'ed the root explorer app just so I could move the su file and update to 2.2. Well after I longpressed the su file and selected move, I went back to /system/xbin to paste it. I selected paste and it told me that I "Cannot paste here because the file system is read only." What? Is no one else having this issue?

Anyway, we all got 2.2 now and can "move apps to the SD" card. I presume one might want to move apps to the SD card to "free up some space" but is that the ONLY reason to move the apps to the card?? Is anyone NOT WAITING until space on the phone is an issue and moving the apps to the card right now?? Are there certain apps that are recommended to be on the phone for proper/faster performance? (I know this was an issue with the Palm Centro I used to have where certain apps HAD TO reside on and launch from the phone)?? What are the general pros/cons (if any, besides "saving space," perhaps regarding performance or other concerns) with leaving apps on the phone vs. the SD card?
