Is there a way to only be notified once when a new email arrives instead of every 10 minutes or so. as it's very distracting when driving and when you get the chance to check emails there's only one message

I have enabled the notification LED on my Desire for all events. And it starts blinking. But it blinks for 5 minutes only, then goes off. Same thing on Hero. There is no entry to specify how long to blink. I want the LED to blink until I turn the phone on. Otherwise it is useless.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSometimes it will be 3 hours between when my email arrives in outlook on my pc and when the droid decides to pick it up (even though i press the refesh button for the email on the droid). when it does come in, it records the time the email should have come in. however, sometimes emails will come in within 1-2 minutes of when they hit my outlook box on my pc. my settings are set to recevie new email every 5 minutes.

Previously when a new SMS arrived, the screen would light up and show the message on the locked screen, from where I could send a "Quick reply" without unlocking the phone or going into the SMS app (using Handcent).
After applying Go Launcher and Locker, the screen does not light up when an SMS comes, though the notification sound and the LED blink is still there. So i need to unlock the phone and then reply, if needed.Also previously when listening to audio, when I pushed the Volume up or down button, the screen remained off, but with these apps now the screen lights up when using the Volume buttons.

I'm getting on great with the phone, it is one stunning piece of kit.
I do have an issue with the stock email client/widget. I've got it all set up to pull down any new messages every 10 minutes and I've set up the peak/off-peak times, etc.
What I don't get are any notifications for emails that I receive overnight when the phone is switched off. I can switch it on in the morning and leave it for as long as I want, but still don't see the new emails appear until I start up the email client.
After the client has been run I get email notifications without any problem.
I connect to my own IMAP server and have Google Mail sync disabled.
As the tile suggests, is it possible to set a different notifiaction sound for E-Mail & SMS? I cannot find this option anywhere.

Both from Gmail just different looking screens. I usually get the outlined envelope in my notification bar but sometimes will get that and also the solid white envelope. Both are the same email just two different notifications. Doesn't happen all the time. Any ideas?

I went to the calendar settings and marked the "default reminder time" as "on time", but whenever I'm creating a new event the reminder is set to 10 minutes before as default...which forces me to change it back to "on time" always.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up my new desire, and gmail works just fine, but the push email or email notification perhaps rather, is acting kind of irrational.
First when I set it up it would go off at about the same time as my email checker on my computer using imap idle. On the second email arriving though there is no more notification from the desire phone, this may be a feature although a weird one. Now I go into the inbox on the desire and delete the 2 emails in question and exit. The next time an email arrives the phone will react but not nearly as fast, it can be minutes or even more.
Ever since updating to Kitkat, my phone either beeps, or if I put notifications on silent, it vibrates, every 5 minutes. It's very annoying and I can't find the cause. I now have to have my vibrations turned off too so I don't know when I'm getting a text any more. I did have a problem during the update and had to take my phone to the Sprint store and they did a hard reset. I'm using a galaxy S4 on Sprint.

I've noticed that recently when I read an email on my Droid and delete it, it still shows up a few minutes later over and over as a new email. I have 2.2 and am using the standard email app that came with my Droid. It's on my work email account which has it's own server, not a gmail/hotmail etc.

It seems kinda pointless to notify for only 5 minutes especially if you are away from your phone or did not hear any notifiers. After 5 minutes you will still need to unlock the phone to check for something. I have just moved from the Motorola Droid to the Incredible and noticed that the Droid's LED notification blinked until the message was open regardless of that duration. Any ideas?

They arrived at 6:33 pm and the timestamps show the were sent at 6:29. Maybe I'm just spoiled from having a blackberry because I'm used to push email being immediate, not 3-4 minutes later. I've rooted it and all but I dont have a backup of the original recovery and unrooted stock ROM (for telus). Today it felt like it was going to catch on fire while it was in my pocket (it wasnt being used as I was in the middle of a class). I figure that I cant wait any longer for Telus to release an update that would allow me to unroot my phone so can anyone who has a stock telus desire please send me a backup of their stock ROM!
