The zoom that you do by moving your fingers apart on the screen had stopped working. I'm sure the only thing I've done is added shape writer. Anybody experienced this, or can help?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had my Desire for about a week end enjoyed pinch to zoom in many applications over the first few days. Somehow the feature was disabled or removed and I struggle to enable it again. Other threads mentioned an update followed by a reboot. I'm not aware of any OS updates and I've done several reboots without any change to the issue. Also, these threads seemed to be US related and about other and slightly older phones.
HTC Desire, firmware 2.1-update1, baseband 32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11, software 1.15.405.4, Vodafone Ireland network, no visible branding, not rooted

Has anyone got this problem like me? yesterday it happened to me for the 2nd time, I just click the camera app and out of nowhere I got a black screen, like camera freezes or something. So first time what I did was make a factory reset and everything was back to normal,and that was beforo Froyo, now when I am running Froyo, I wonder when I make a factory reset does it turns me all the way back to the stock desire, without new software version and Froyo update? I have bought Desire on contract so I have everything official, no unbranded or rooted phone.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to adjust the volume (ringer/media/navigation) I press the button and sometimes it's okay but mostly nothing will happen for up to 5 seconds and then all of the sudden it'll catch up and shoot right to the end. If I press it repeatedly instead of holding on, it normally takes a few presses before the first adjustment then it'll work pretty much okay but it might do a few moves then stop again randomly. The most annoying time is when I'm on the phone and I can't hear what's being said! I do not want to install a volume control app.

if anyone has difficulty playing games e.g. drving games, dont know if its something i'm doing wrong, but I can turn left or right, i.e. the car keeps steering to the left and tilting the phone isn't working. It is something I have not setup or am I doing it all wrong

View 11 Replies View RelatedI noticed that about 35% of the time when I try to pinch/zoom it flat out doesn't work. The little +/- are there and double tapping works just as it did pre-update.
Is this happening to anybody else? Most of the time its perfectly fine but when it doesn't work it acts pretty much like it did before the update.

I was pretty sure that you used to be able to zoom in the camcorder (I mean before you start recording), but tried it today and can't pinch to zoom nor is there anyway to get up the onscreen control. I've been eying the HTC Desire for a few days now. One thing that bothers me is the battery life. If I buy this (or any of these battery hungry phones) is I have to be prepared to charge it.
1) The phone does not seem to come with a cradle. There seem to be a few after market cradles out there, are they all created equal? Do any of them work better than others? For example, do all the cradles do usb sync and recharge the battery?
2) How long does it take to recharge the Desire from fully flat?
3) I have not physically used one of these phones. All the stores have only a plastic mock-up. Can someone tell me if the sort of multi-touch that the iPhone has where you can zoom in on a map or web page by opening it with your fingers or using two fingers to scroll around a page? If not, is there some easy way to add this capability with some add-on?
I installed froyo this morning and had to download all my apps again including dolphin hd, now when I use the pinch to zoom the text does't automatically fit the screen anymore, I've checked and the auto fit box is checked.

Firstly, does anyone know if there's any was of getting it to always show pictures for a given sender (like the web app)? I seem to have a decent connection most places, and get fed up of constantly having the press the button, especially as most of the emails I get are HTML type newsletters. And related to the type of emails, why doesn't the GMail app also have pinch to zoom when viewing the messages? They always come up huge and I have to scroll around. Can you at least change the default zoom. Failing that is there a another free email app. that will do these things.

I turned it back on and all is fine. Sheesh... glad it's easy, but anyone else see this rude behavior? I have a 90%+ charged battery so it's not a low power thing...

For the second time in a month, my EVO has decided to stop working with 3G. 4G works fine as does wifi, but 3G is dead. When this happened the last time, I spent an hour on the phone with Sprint doing all the usual things from resetting profiles to battery pulls to, eventually, factory resetting the phone (losing everything in the process).I'm not terribly excited about another factory reset, so anyone else have this problem and found another solution?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had an HTC Desire on Orange in the UK for about 6 weeks and it is having persistent problem. Firstly despite having a strong 4-bar out of 4 signal, online services and the internet do not work at all when a 3G signal is being received (e.g. news, weather, all widgets, internet, email etc).Calls and texts do work however with a 3G signal.But when a 3g+ signal (HSDPA) is being received, all internet services as above work fine.However, when a 3+ signal is being received, the phone does not make or receive calls or text messages, and often fails to send texts. Calls I make immediately shut down (bleep + �call ended�), and incoming calls from other people go straight to answerphone. Also often when turning the data connection on/off, it freezes and has to be rebooted, and turning airplane setting on and off does not fix the problem.
I have also tried the different network settings (GSM, WCDMA, auto, etc). �GSM� sends and receives calls and texts but doesn�t work (or is incredibly slow) with internet, and �auto� and �WCDMA only� show the problems as above.I don't think this is a network/coverage issues as, as I have seen many people reporting these same issues on other networks and in other parts of the UK, and I have read that other people are having to manually turn off HSDPA to be able to make calls (using an app?). Even if I can stop HSDPA from connecting to make sure the phone works, I still can�t use the internet at all on 3g � even GSM works better!
Finally, when I connect to a bluetooth device (e.g. car and headphones) the phone will connect briefly, and then randomly disconnect. I have also seen this issue reported elsewhere.I very much like the phone and don't want to get rid of it, but these problems are making the phone unuseable.Also I don't know if I should be contacting HTC or Orange about this. Will the upcoming Android 2.2 fix these problems?Anyone know how to fix this or if I need a new handset? Are there any apps that can help? Also does the Nexus One have these problems and are they fixed by Froyo?
I've just updated my nexus one to 2.2. Now all of my (own and some from the market) apps throw exceptions and were closed.
It's weird, in the app I'm developing atm, there it displays only my start page with buttons, but when I tap on one button to fire an intent to another activity my app gets closed with an exception.
Yesterday before the update everything worked fine.

Woke up this morning and my wifi has stopped working, I'm on orange, was on 1.5 this morning, day before yesterday I tried getting the 2.1 update by debranding, installing generic 1.5 and getting the ota updates, got to 2.1 but then the phone decided not to let me use my orange sim card in it, sim network lock. Went back to orange 1.5. Wifi worked yesterday, then this morning stopped working. Also decided to root this evening now on villainrom 12.0.
