I have just got the HTC Desire today with an Orange UK contract. Unfortunately, I can't set up my yahoo mail account on it. It always say username/password incorrect. I have tried manual settings as well with no success. never had this problem with HTC Touch HD which was runnig on Windows mobile unlike Desire which has an Androd platform. Can anyone tell me how to set up yahoo mail on HTC Desire.

For some reason its not letting me set up my yahoo account. it keeps telling me username or password incorrect. Anyone else have this problem??? I didnt have problems on the behold 2 or g1. I even signed in and out from yahoo on the computer so i know im using the right password.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOk, since day one ( 27 days ago ) My Sprint HTC Hero has worked flawlessly with my free Yahoo email acct. I just went to the email widget, typed in my email address and password, and it autoconfigured the imap settings. Worked like a charm. Yesterday it decided to "authentification failed, please verify your username/password"
Well, although my un/pw were right, I changed my pw just to be sure I wasnt being a dumbass, no luck. I googled the problem and heard some people changed to pop3 so I tried those settings, no luck. I even tried changing my preferred location to asia, lol, no luck.
I see this has been a problem for a LOT of people since the beginning, but whats really bothering me is I had yahoo for a month...problem free. So whats the deal with this? I am NOT paying for yahoo. this crap makes me crabby!
My wife prefers the standard email instead of the Gmail App but when I try to setup her account, it keeps telling me that the username and/or password is incorrect. I know it is correct because I can login to gmail.com without a problem and I do have Imap enabled in Gmail. I also tried it with K-9 mail and it doesn't work there either.

However i never even set one up for it, how does that work? I have a name/PW on sprint.com that accesses our account, but that's it. Is there a different set up for the phone?
View 7 Replies View RelatedNever had problem before, and not sure what happened. Today, I tried to send a phone pic via email, and came up with this error message on Notification Panel:
"Unable to send mail."
"The account setting is incorrect (Yahoo)."
I press on the actual Notification, and it automatically prompts me to change account settings.
Edit Account
myname@yahoo.com
Hit Next.
Incoming Settings
Protocol > IMAP
Email address > myname@yahoo.com
Password > *******
IMAP server > android.imap.mail.yahoo.com
Security type > SSL
Server Port > 993
Above is my current settings, but I did not change anything.
I re-entered my yahoo password to see if that's problem, and now get a warning message saying, "Authentication failed. Please verify username/password" but that's my correct username and password for Yahoo.
Sorry if this has Been asked a million times but can I add a yhoo mail account to the android mail app? I have tried various settings in the manual add section but can't add a yahoo mail account. would much prefer not to use the yahoo mail app from the store!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have setup and tested my personal email on my new HTC Desire and all seems fine, then when I get home and manually check my email on my Outlook client I seem to have received about 4 emails but none to my phone. When I go into my settings on my phone, the SMTP server settings for mail have changed. For example when I set it up it should be say:
POP Server: mail.neilsdomain.com
POP Username: neil@neilsdomain.com
SMTP Server: smtp.ispname.co.uk
SMTP Username: neil@ispname.co.uk
I test this and all works wonderfully and mail flows into my phone. Then for some unknown reason when I come out and go back in the SMTP settings have changed by themselves to:
SMTP Server: smtp.ispname.co.uk
SMTP Username: neil@neilsdomain.com. Why would the SMTP Username change?
I want to install the yahoo mail app, but I've had it installed but I'm getting 2 sets of emails, is there a way to disable the native one on the desire so the new app will only get the emails?

What is important to me is my email.. I want to be able to sync my yahoo account with yahoo mail and the mail on the phone so if i send an email on my phone it will appear in the sent folder on my yahoo mail on the computer and vice versa if you follow... With Android being google will i be able to do this from the phones email client like the iphone does...

Is there something in 2.2 that doesn't like yahoo? I had a Samsung Vibrant, 2.1, for a couple of weeks and my yahoo account set up perfectly. Please keep in mind that I am a total rookie with these smart phones so be gentle, i.e. no acronyms, OK?

I have been using my old and faithful HTC touch for the past 3 years and just 2 days ago decided to get the HTC Desire. So far i am very pleased with it and getting through the initial adjustment phase very well. I will like to ask a few questions:
First, i have a few useful work documents on my old HTC touch that was opened with tomeraider, are there any free apps that can open them on the HTC desire?
Secondly, i have already added my gmail account to the HTC desire but i would like to also add my main yahoomail account too . This is my most frequently used email account and it contains a zillion emails that i would not want to synchronize to the phone each time . I guess they will just take up valuable space in the phone so is there a way of only allowing new email to enter my phone.
Finally, i have ordered a new 16gb card from ebay, when this comes, can i just directly copy the data from the current 4 gb card to the new card via my PC and everything works fine after that?
I love being able to check e-mails from different accounts on my phone (never had one that did that before!) but, one of them is a work account that I would really like to protect. Is there a way I can force the phone to ask for my account password every time I access this particular account - or is there something I can set internally on the phone to protect the e-mail app?

So a friend of mine did too many wrong patterns and the phone is asking for my username and password. When i fill in my login and password, it says "invalid username or password". I tried it like 20 times.I have of course verified the username and password on my gmail, and it works fine. Has this ever happened to anyone ? Is there a way around it ? I refuse to reset my phone to factory settings, i have all my contacts, and important notes in there.I was really looking forward to android, but stuff like this is just unacceptable, really disappointing.

These Apps have to authenticate or login somehow, to access data and update stuff that belongs to the user. Since there is no username and password one could provide to authenticate the mobile device, I wonder how to achieve this.Two ways came into my mind:Generate some key on the server that must be entered on the device. This key will be send as auth-key when the mobile device sends or requests data and the user can be linked that way. When using this Option, the key should be transported somehow to the user, so he doesn't have to type it in. Maybe via email, SMS or by scanning a barcode. The mobile App uses the Browser or shows an integrated Web-Panel that opens a special page of the Webapp. On this page, the user has to login in, and could then allow the mobile App to read and write data. My question is: Are both ways possible and save? Which one would you prefer? What are the details to watch out for? Are there any other ways to do this? If I got it all right, it would not be possible to use OpenId on the Device, and link the mobile and the webapp that way, right?

I know on my co-workers iphones they can enter the site fine, but on the droid it doesnt ask for a username or pass it just says the address is restricted with no pop ups to enter the info. any idea how to fix this? View 5 Replies View RelatedMy first Droid had problems with basic applications such as the Messaging and Phone apps resetting, so I exchanged it. Everything seemed great with the new phone, until I woke up one morning to see a screen stating that too many incorrect patterns had been attempted, and I should reset the phone by entering my Google account information. However, upon entering my information, I immediately received a message "Invalid username or password." There was no apparent attempt to even validate the information. Anyhow, I returned to the Verizon store and after the representative researched for half an hour or so, he decided to factory reset the phone. Now, this would not have been a problem, except that I purposely entered an incorrect pattern five times afterwards, to get to the "Forgot pattern" screen, and as I had suspected, it refused to accept my information. I was wondering whether this would be valid grounds to exchange my phone once again. I'm not content with having to completely erase everything on my device each time my phone gets into somebody else's hands.

1) SampleSyncAdapter is for 2.0 and in 2.0 emulator I don't see the Accounts & Sync options in the Settings, am I missing anything? so for this I compiled this app in 2.1 and ran on 2.1 emulator
2) In 2.0 emulator when I launch Accounts option from Contact app, it crashes? I saw this a raised bug, is this solved?
