View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been lurking on this EVO forum ever since the announcement of the phone and am very excited about the phone. I am currently an droid ERIS user on verizon but the EVO and sprint's cheaper price is finally making me go to sprint. However, when I watch/read more previews for Galaxy S, that screen just looks really nice. Only if the EVO had the same screen.... Besides the Sense UI vs Touchflow (?) argument, galaxy lacking flash for camera, is there any argument to get the EVO? They both have 1500mh battery but super amoled is supposed to be more energy efficient so I'm thinking that will last longer. I'm hoping some of you can give me insightful unbiased opinion of the two.

I hear from some people that I could get the phone at the 2 year price and it would then extend my contract another 2 years from that date. Or is the 2 year contract with the phone, where I would NEED to cancel the contract in order to get the 2 year pricing on the droid incredible?

View 41 Replies View RelatedI got my Desire 3 weeks ago. At first everything was okay and the websurfing experience great. But during the last week the browser has been forcing me to view the sites i visit in mobile view, only some of them and unluckily the site i visit the most. I've had the mobile view setting unticked from the beginning. So thats not the problem. I've also tried to clear all the browser data and reset to default settings many times But nothing works. I'm starting to think that a factory reset is the only option, but I wanted to check if someone else has experienced this and/or knows a solution to this problem.

Like to know if anyone has expereinced of call quality like dropped calls, audio breaking up and poor reception in general? I understand there is a "quere" on how many bars appear on the display, but frankly coming from a Blackberry Storm 2, I have never had any of these issues. The location is well within city limits and was never a problem with other models of phones. Any possible patches or fixes in the works?

When my phone is on a white screen, like the Google search page, I can see a light brown circle in the middle on my screen. So I'm wondering if the battery is burning the screen. (Something similar to how the battery burns the back of the white iphones and leave a light burn mark.) But can the battery do that to the screen? I did apply a Zagg screen protector with solution, but the circle is to perfect for it to be from that. So, anyone else seeing this or has had this happen to their screen before?

I am currently the only Android user in my office of about 100 people. I am surrounded by BBs and iPhones. The BB users are okay, but the iPhone users can be extremely trying! (I am the in-house graphic designer, and I use WINDOWS! I am so sick of people looking at me aghast and saying "You don't use a Mac?" when they see my set-up. that's another story though)
I am fortunate enough to get to demo Android units from Rogers Wireless to write reviews on my blog, so in addition to my personal Magic, I get to bring in cool new Android phones to show off. (So far the X10 and Acer Liquid E).
One of my co-workers is looking to get a new phone, so I've been showing him Android. Of course, one of the nosy iPhoneys decided to butt in with "NO, you should get an iPhone! I love my iPhone, it's amazing!" (Yes the exclamation marks were there when he said it).
I replied that Android was just as good as iPhone. The co-worker who is looking for a new phone said "but iPhone is easier to use."
I asked why he thought that, and he replied (gesturing to the iPhone co-worker) "well, that's what they say."
The iPhoney just keeps ranting about how much he LOVES his iPhone. When I suggested he might like to try Android to see if he might like it, he declared "I already love my iPhone, why would I want to try anything else?"
It's so frustrating. It's not the iPhone I dislike, it's the hordes of brainwashed zombies who parrot the marketing of Mr. Jobs, and muddy the whole issue.
I want Android to do well, but it's such a struggle dealing with the Fanboy variable.
What is your opinion on the best available AOSP ROM as of the current releases?
Best combo of speed, OC ability, bugs.... etc.
There is a link around here that I read up on stating that Task Killers are not recommended.I was using one for a while and it seemed alright.Albeit, via the Task Killer I realized that all the proprietary software from carriers were trying to run, ie Moxier Mail etc.
I have since uninstalled my Task Killer, but know that there are these useless programs running does bother me somewhat.
There's nothing wrong with downloading the file of a paid app and installing it on your phone, right? Because I did that for a few.Also, what's everyone's opinion on Open Home vs. DxTop?

After about a week with it, I'll say mine pretty much sucks! Its like its got worse! Seriously my evo and incredible both had better battery life. I tried going with out moving wallpaper today and it was about the same, example, left my house at about 10am this morning with a fully charged battery, with some moderate use I was down to 20 percent by 2:30? Not good in my book so far, so I'm wondering if I got a lemon? Also, Did anyone's phone come with the battery already installed inside the device? Mine did, and I've never seen that, the battery is usually in plastic wrap. Got it from a corporate store in NYC!

I would like to know if it is possible to reset my email account's information and settings for Google Opinion Rewards. During the beginning part of Google Opinion Rewards, you are asked to put in things such as your occupation, ZIP code, and full name. I was sleeping during the release of this application, and so a younger family member was playing around on my Nexus, they apparently put in a bunch of random information. Obviously, those choices affect the possibilities of receiving surveys, and I would like if I am able to reset it.

I own the phone since July, and I would like to share my opinion about it with you!
Negative Points:
1) Bluetooth is not functional. Totally wrong!
2) I can't charge it when is turned off! It always turns on automatically!
3) The alarm is ringing every time it likes! if you snooze it continues ringing every 10 minutes! If you deactivate it with slide bar, then it is not ringing again next morning! You have to set it up again!
4) 5megapixel camera without zoom? it is unacceptable!
5) I can't organize my files into visible folders! All my photos, my videos or my music are presented altogether. Although I have made folders in the Videos and into Album application, the phone is still showing the files altogether! I have downloaded some applications about it (ASTRO, FileExplorer, AndExplprer) but they seem to be useless!
Positive Points:
1) Very good screen. Very good touch procedure. (I would like to have the zoom function of the i-phone)

3) Very good video player!
4) Cute!
5) Small!
6) Beautiful!
On the browser (standard and xscope), when login on to online banking a number of boxes need completing, however on the desires browser they are not referenced when you need to complete each one.click onto user name.A blank box appears for completion. User enters the user name.Then theres a next button to press for the next field. Click next.And another blank box appears! No indication as to what needs to be entered.This is espcially annoying when it asks for certain digits or for example the 6th letter of the password, and when entering payment details as you don't know what to complete where.It either needs the name of the required box above the box or as a background piece of text.Can this be sorted out urgently?? to me this is the biggest single problem of the Desire and is the only thing to have put my mate off buying one - the N900 displays the field name alongside the entry field.

For instance i just went to phandroid.com and at the top of the page it shows the latest article as "Android 2.2 allows Auto Updates" when in fact if i go on it on my laptop there are 13 new articles..... even when i refresh the page (on my phone) it does the same thing...
View 1 Replies View RelatedHad my desire for about 8 months now and have had very few problems however since updating to 2.2 (on Orange) i have had a VERY laggy stock browser. i have downloaded Dolphin HD and that seems to fix it but i prefer the stock and it makes it easier to manage my bookmarks using the LauncherPro widgets.
