HTC Desire :: Browser Killing Bug
Apr 28, 2010I do: open browser -> menu -> more -> Settings -> Default Zoom -> "Close" -> back button and then browser crushes, next time I try to start it it crashes again. anyone had same problem?

HTC Desire :: Task Killer Not Killing Apps
Jul 29, 2010I have tried 3 different task killers but each one do not seem to be killing the task even though it says it is. When i open the "killed" apps, they open to the last screen before they were killed. I am using the froyo ROM. On 2.1, when the apps were killed and then re-opened them, it always went back to the main screen.

Jun 1, 2010I've been using a Task killer without problem since I got the Desire but since yesterday when reading through one of the threads on here and downloading a load of stuff the Task Killer has started behaving badly, I've tried two different Task Killers and they're both doing the same.
When killing some apps the screen seems to restart, like it killed the Sense UI but I've put all the system processes on the ignore list.
HTC Desire :: Killing Calendar And OBEX Services Stops Sync
May 21, 2010I started killing the calendar and the obex services by going into settings>applications>running services.
This is resulted in the awake times significantly lower than the up time... however today i realised it also means when i want to connect the Desire to the pc to sync contacts/calendar with outlook.. the sync software on the phone does not launch at all. I went into the programs menu, but there is no launcher icon for the sync app.
I also setup the power control widget that comes with the phone on the homescreen and enabled sync from that... no go. The Sync app only came up when i rebooted the device and *DID NOT* kill the two calendar processes on the phone.
I know rebooting is a solution, but i would appreciate if there's something quicker.
HTC Desire :: Htc Desire Web Browser Mobile View
Jun 18, 2010I got my Desire 3 weeks ago. At first everything was okay and the websurfing experience great. But during the last week the browser has been forcing me to view the sites i visit in mobile view, only some of them and unluckily the site i visit the most. I've had the mobile view setting unticked from the beginning. So thats not the problem. I've also tried to clear all the browser data and reset to default settings many times But nothing works. I'm starting to think that a factory reset is the only option, but I wanted to check if someone else has experienced this and/or knows a solution to this problem.

Apr 19, 2010On the browser (standard and xscope), when login on to online banking a number of boxes need completing, however on the desires browser they are not referenced when you need to complete each one.click onto user name.A blank box appears for completion. User enters the user name.Then theres a next button to press for the next field. Click next.And another blank box appears! No indication as to what needs to be entered.This is espcially annoying when it asks for certain digits or for example the 6th letter of the password, and when entering payment details as you don't know what to complete where.It either needs the name of the required box above the box or as a background piece of text.Can this be sorted out urgently?? to me this is the biggest single problem of the Desire and is the only thing to have put my mate off buying one - the N900 displays the field name alongside the entry field.

Apr 22, 2010I have the "large" bookmark widget on one of my screens. Everytime i go to the websites from this link it comes up with a version of the site that is maybe a day or 2 old. For instance i just went to phandroid.com and at the top of the page it shows the latest article as "Android 2.2 allows Auto Updates" when in fact if i go on it on my laptop there are 13 new articles..... even when i refresh the page (on my phone) it does the same thing...

Nov 25, 2010Had my desire for about 8 months now and have had very few problems however since updating to 2.2 (on Orange) i have had a VERY laggy stock browser. i have downloaded Dolphin HD and that seems to fix it but i prefer the stock and it makes it easier to manage my bookmarks using the LauncherPro widgets.

Oct 30, 2010Connected to 3G, everything else works fine (Twitter, Facebook, IM services). I have full signal bars, but every site I try to browse gives me a "Gateway Timed Out" Error (504). Browsing works fine on WiFi, but it just doesn't work on 3G and I can't figure out why. Anyone experiencing the same problem/got a solution?

Aug 11, 2010Is it possible to get more than one popup window in the browser?Popups are accepted in settings.We are using a website in my work that redirect first to one popup (and thats ok) but from there it redirect to another popup and its here the phone blocks the popup with the message tah one popup are allready open.Before 2.2 the first site open as a new site and not as an popup and the second as a popup and that was ok.I have tryed original browser, opera and Dolphin with the same result.

Apr 21, 2010I love my new Desire! It has prompted six people in my office to purchase it, but what I have found to be annoying is that I have lost the generic HTC browser. This happened when I installed Dolphin.
I now have Opera 5 Mini Beta and that Orange Browser labelled "Internet" but not the stock one. I want it back as its great at rendering pages etc..

Jun 7, 2010For some unapparent reason, my default internet browser keeps crashing.
It will load the Google mobile homepage (and if I change the homepage then it loads that too), but if I navigate to any page then it says I have to force close it. Also, if I try to clear history then this crashes it also.
I haven't installed any new programs so I'm really stuck here.
HTC Desire :: Default Browser Or Switch?
May 10, 2010I really like the default browser with the HTC desire. It seems fast and intuitive, and above all I love the way it zooms - formatting text to fit the window, and especially the way it seems to 'snap' to the edges of tables - great for reading news sites where the content is sandwiched in between loads of junk.
But I've never used a different browser on a smartphone, and I wondered how others compared. It's not perfect - swtiching between windows is cumbersome and there doesn't seem to be tabs - which means that sometimes pages can be doing stuff in the background and you'll never even know. And the menus and controls aren't ideal - it's all there but it's annoying having to hit menu then more before you can hit the 'home' key.
So are there any other browsers that have the speed, perfect layout, and intuitive feel of the default browser but better controls and other features? Would appreciate some recommendations of others to try

Aug 2, 2010I thought 2.2 was supposed to speed the browser up but before the update it was way better. Now scrolling isn't as smooth ad before and some webpages don't load completely.

I've removed a few apps that I updated this morning, such as juice defender, the rest were just games from what I can see. Is there a way to see when apps were last updated, obviously last resort is a full wipe but don't really want to do that if I can get away with it.

Aug 5, 2010I downloaded opera mini and have it and the stock browser on my phone. When I got it, it asked what I wanted to use as default for internet. Well my bookmarks mainly and I chose the stock. Now, I'm in Nigeria and the internet isn't great on my phone, but I'm getting a 100Mb allowance today. I want to revert to Opera as my default cause it uses less Mb and I am here for a month so want to stay within my quota. Is there any way to do this?

Honestly, great web browsing is the biggest selling point for android, and no decent browser apart from opera supports that basic function (sadly, safari has it licked, bookmark manager on the iPhone is great). I've tried some market apps, but they either don't recognize bookmarks from dolphin or just plain suck.

Oct 20, 2010I have Flashed the LeeDrOiD v2.2b ROM and when accessing the Stock browser it will randomly crash, it's a strange crash because normally a crash will mean that you will exit from the browser and next time it will load to the homepage, on mine though it will sort of crash but then load the page I was on, even if it wasn't my homepage, if I had any tabs open I would also lose all of those, which is how I know it's crashing.
This isn't specific to this version of the ROM though as I've had this since v1.4, when I asked in the XDA forums they said it might be to do with re-installing my backed up data, basically I went from Android 2.1 to 2.2 when I Flashed the ROM and they said that backing up data when crossing over Android versions could cause problems.
What I have done this time though is not backup anything, no SMS, no system settings, nothing! I deleted everything off my SD Card, cleared the cache, then cleared the Dalvik cache, did a factory reset, Flashed the ROM and then Flashed the radio but still this problem exists, I haven't backed up anything this time, although when I logged into the Market with my Google account it synced my contacts back onto my phone, as they're linked to my Google account somehow.
This is really starting to annoy me now but I can't figure out for the life of me why it happens, I've tried replicating it to narrow down the cause but I can make it happen one time doing it a certain way but then doing it that way again it'll be fine.
Has anyone got any ideas of how I can overcome this problem or how to Flash the ROM so that my browser will work correctly, this browser problem is the only problem I have with the ROM, apart from that it is superb.
Any help very much appreciated!
EDIT: Also, the browser can crash whether I'm connected to a data plan/Wi-Fi or not!
HTC Desire :: Can't Edit Facebook Status In Any Browser
Sep 17, 2010I can't edit my Facebook status in either the default browser or dolphin hd. I can click on the box, get the green selection graphic, but no cursor or keyboard to actually put anything in. Very frustrating as I can't add a link properly in the Facebook app, and I can't comment on one as I post it in a browser.
