Android :: Field Test Mode On A Mobile Phone

Oct 23, 2009

After searching the groups and posts, i could not find a suitable answer to my question - On a Android mobile phone, where can i find the Field Test Mode/Application so that i can see cellular network information? On other mobile phone platforms, you can enter a number key sequence and a Field test mode is launched providing cellular network information e.g cell ID, signal strength. Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can acquire/activate Field Test Mode please?

HTC Desire :: Phone Itself Goes To Airplane Mode

I've just got my HTC Desire and love it, but I've encountered a small problem - I can't seem to get my phone out of Airplane Mode. I did install Locale, I then noticed that the phone always goes into Airplane Mode, so I uninstalled locale but the problem persists - I've seen loads of other threads about this with other handsets, but got no real ideas of how to solve it?

HTC Desire :: Phone Takes Itself Out Of Silent Mode

Oct 30, 2010

My phone has a really annoying habit. Every night before I go to sleep. I switch it to silent mode. But if a call or a text message comes through overnight it vibrates. The next morning I find that the phone is now in vibrate mode. I did have Foxy Ring installed, although it was not activated. I wondered whether it could have anything to do with this, but I've now removed it from the phone, but the irritating behaviour persists. Short of turning the phone off overnight, how can I get a quiet night's sleep?

HTC Desire :: My Phone Never Enters Sleep Or Standby Mode

Jun 22, 2010

I kill amazon and it stays dead for sometime i cant kill smart keyboard pro it restarts it self straight away.I have had the phone on charge for about 6h now and the battery seams stuck half way and don't relay increase or its increasing very slowly.

HTC Desire :: Htc Sync Leaving Out Field In Outlook Contacts

Apr 10, 2010

I have just received my HTC Desire, last week. It's my first Android toy.

I've noticed than when synching with Outlook Contacts on the PC, some fields are not copied to the phone, for example the 'car' field, which is an additional phone number field.

Other than this, My previous phone was a BB Storm2. At the moment, My opinion is that, THe HTC desire is faster than the bb, its browser much better, but for day to day 'real world' use, the bb is much much better. More reliable, and although less options, but gives you those that you realy need.

HTC Desire :: Rebooting - Phone Out Of Sleep Mode To Respond To Text Message

Sep 19, 2010

I took my phone out of sleep mode to respond to a text message, only to find I couldn't get the keyboard into landscape mode. I then found that the trackball wasn't working, and the phone seemed as if it was moving through puddy. When I tried putting it to sleep, the screen would dim but not go black. I eventually had to remove the battery to resolve the issue. The next day, the same thing happened.

Both times, the issue happened at around 8 o'clock. I thought thru what apps I had downloaded recently, and looked through Astrid To-Do. I found it had scheduled back-ups at 8 o'clock. I turned that off, hoping that it would fix my problems. The next day, at 8 o'clock, my phone randomly restarted. That was all. No overheating, no hanging, and it booted up just fine. The next day, it rebooted again, but I don't know if it was around 8 o'clock. Today, just about an hour ago at 2:30, it rebooted again, with no overheating or any other problems.

I'm at a loss about what could be causing this. I uninstalled Astrid To-Do app completely now, but I'll have to wait to make sure that fixed anything. I have about 7 days left before my 30 day return policy kicks in, but I moved to Boston from Iowa to go to college, and I would have to mail it back, which I would prefer not to do (cost and time without a phone being the major issues).

I'm running:
Firmware 2.1-update1
Baseband version 2.05.10.06.29
Kernel version 2.6.29-e9066436

HTC Desire :: Phone Give Black Screen Of Death When Try To Enter Recovery Mode

Aug 2, 2010

I recently tried to root my HTC desire using UNrevoked 3.1. Everything was going well and I even had the desktop gui tell me that the process was "done", however the phone never made it into the green and black recovery menu, and now when I try and enter the recovery menu the phone gives a black screen. I then have to do a hard reset by taking out the battery. I have tried running unrevoked again with the same results and have tried using Rom manager to enter recovery this way, niether of which have helped.

I've spent alot of time searching without answers, if any one thinks they can help or just point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

HTC Desire :: Trying To Run Test RUU But ROM Update Failed

Jul 13, 2010

I have created a Goldcard using the tool on this Forum. It appears okay when I check the loaded files on the card. When I try and run Test RUU it fails to update my ROM from 1.15.110.11. (T-Mobile UK). I thought HTC Sync might be the problem as I had been using disk drive to connect my phone, so I reinstalled it. HTC Sync causes my Windows Explorer to crash but I managed a workaround and tried running Test RUU again. Once again the update failed. On my phone screen I get the message CID incorrect Update fail which sounds like a Goldcard problem.

If I were within the main application, I know I could just place the file in the assets directory and use getResources().getAssets().open(sourceFile).However, this API appears to be unavailable from the ActivityInstrumentationTestCase2 class. Is there an easy way to copy a file over from the testing PC, or should I just keep a fresh copy of a test fixture on the device and copy it over a temporary file?

Missing Target Class To Test In Test Application?

Nov 10, 2011

I have a project (that compiles and runs in the emulator.) I have a test project that tests part of this project. This test project also compiles with no problems, but when I try to run (test) it in the emulator, I get a NoClassDefFoundError exception on one of the classes my test class tests (I hope that made sense!) when it starts to run in the emulator. This is coming out of the adb log. I looked in the bin directory (of the test project) for the missing class, but could not find it... Should it be there? I found no reference (apk, etc) of the project I am trying to test either in the test projects bin directory. How does the test project get the classes it needs to test against (in the classpath, I assume.) How do the tested classes get moved to the emulator? I did try running the app before testing, so I know it is installed and runs correctly. BTW, I am using netbeans with the nbandroid plugin.

Android :: Getting Test Run Failed No Test Results?

Aug 11, 2010

I have never used JUnit before, and now I'm trying to set it up on an Android project.My project under test is fairly complex, including some JNI, but my test project, at the moment, is completely trivial. I have found many examples (that look totally different) online of how to make a test project, but it seems that no matter which one I follow, I get the same results.Here's my JUnit project code:package com.mycompany.myproject.test;
import android.test.AndroidTestCase;public class SimpleTestCaseExample extends Android TestCase {public void test_testOne() {fail("Just Always Fail");When I run, I see the following in Logcat:
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: numtests=2
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: test=test_testOne
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS_CODE: 0
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: id=InstrumentationTestRunner
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: current=2
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: class=com.mycompany.myproject.test.SimpleTestCaseExample
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: stream=
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: numtests=2
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: test=testAndroidTestCaseSetupProperly
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS_CODE: 1
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: id=InstrumentationTestRunner
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: current=2
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: class=com.mycompany.myproject.test.SimpleTestCaseExample
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: stream=.
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: numtests=2
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: test=testAndroidTestCaseSetupProperly
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS_CODE: 0
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_RESULT: stream=
stdout Test results for InstrumentationTestRunner=..
stdout Time: 0.07
stdout OK (2 tests)
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_CODE: -1
But, I get the following in the Console:Launching instrumentation android.test. Instrumentation TestRunner on device emulator-5554 Collecting test information Test run failed: No test results I have tried a variety of different things, messing with the basic TestCase class, or the TestSuite class, or a variety of other options. I tried to just go for the most trivial example because I'm really still trying to learn how this works.Whatever I try, I see this error.

Android :: Is It Unit Test Or An Integration Test?

Nov 9, 2010

I'm working on a school project and I'm researching testing possibilities for Android applications. On this page: http: // developer . android . com/ resources / tutorials /testing /hello android. Google writes about a unit test. Is this really a unit test? A Unit test will not integrate all classes and will not test in his context. So my opinion is it is not a Unit Test but an Integration Test.

Android : Way To Test Out GPS Capabilities On Phone?

Jul 21, 2010

I'm planning a mini road trip this weekend and I want to use it as a way to test out the GPS capabilities on the phone? I'd like to be able to replace my Magellan entirely. The maps are a bit out of date and it would be nice to have one less device to carry around.

I tried both NDrive and GMaps. I was unimpressed with both of them. Both were much more difficult to program than my Magellan when I tried programming them manually. NDrive was confusing to set up in the first place. GMaps worked quite nicely with voice programming, but I have no clue what commands I've got beyond that. NDrive didn't support this at all. On my Magellan I can give voice commands and have it pull up the POIs at the next exit so I can see not only where the next gas station is, but where the next gas station is after that. (Extremely useful if you're on an eighth of a tank and don't know if you must stop at this exit or if there's another gas station 2 miles down the road.) The voice for GMaps is extremely annoying.

I prefer free of course, but I'm more than willing to pay for a quality app if I can test it out before hand and make sure it does what I need it to do. Ideally I want the following:

Voice programming - I want to be able to say "Go to 1234 Main st" or something similar and it go.

Easy manual programming - I want to be able to easily enter destinations manually.

Trip planning - I want to be able to program multiple destinations. I recently went to Chicago. With my Magellan, I was able to program all the places I wanted to go before hand so I just had to click on the tourist trap I wanted to see and it directed me there.

Voice activation while driving - I drive alone most times. I'd like to be able to not have to take my eyes/attention off the road to search for the closest fast food place or gas station.

Integration with the other parts of the OS - I want it to do the standard things like mute the music when it gives voice prompts and turn it back up when it's done, mute voice prompts when the phone rings, etc. Any ideas on apps that will do all this?
