This weekend im going to be installing 2 antennas i ordered from wi-ex one is for 1X signal and the other is for 3G when pointing them im gonna be inside the house looking at the dBm while a friend is on the roof so i can try to get them both peaked i know when i go into test mode ##program and on the HDR Status Screen this is the 3G reception info but my question is which one should i be looking at the HDR RSSI or the Receive Power im thinking its the RSSI but i wanna be sure also the lower that number the better right? and for the 1X signal i goto the Call Processing Status Screen and look at the RSSI.

After searching the groups and posts, i could not find a suitable answer to my question - On a Android mobile phone, where can i find the Field Test Mode/Application so that i can see cellular network information? On other mobile phone platforms, you can enter a number key sequence and a Field test mode is launched providing cellular network information e.g cell ID, signal strength. Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can acquire/activate Field Test Mode please?

Right now I have the stock browser, Dolphin HD, Skyfire, and xScope all installed and i'm trying to determine which one is really top of the field right now. I haven't gotten to play with Skyfire and xScope for an extended period of time so I was wondering the opinions of the users of this board which browsers they like the most and dislike the most, and most importantly, why. This is all with the 2.2 leak installed so Flash is a factor, and the stock browser does workna little better with Froyo installed. I know for certain that Dolphin isn't running so amazing now, Skyfire streaming flash videos doesn't let you skip to parts in the timeline, and xScope has the coolest icon.

If I have tower coverage than I have satellites, normally 7 to 9 of them. If there is no tower coverage then I have no satellites which means no maps & no GPS which really makes me want to toss it. Has anyone else run into this?

I am really trying to figure this out. So I go into Messaging and I'd like to type in the "to" field a contacts name, like facebook does it and it starts to list matches and then you just pick the one you want. Like it searches your contacts, but I can't figure out how to do this. Like I can only type in a number but I don't have anyones number memorized that's the point of having a saved phone book so am I missing something here?

New X, rooted and installed dx/ DD overclocker and put it at 1.3ghz and ran quadrant and it passed. Then tried 1.0 low voltage and it seems fine. Then tried the stress test in dx/d2 app and it failed. So I put it stock and it still gals after maybe 6 or so passes. I installed stability test and it fails after a short run stock too. Did I F it up?

Has anyone tried this out yet? It is in the "System Info" options of the latest Set CPU update. I tried it a few times on 1000 mhz and 1.2, but the phone froze or rebooted after running for a few minutes. I have BB 1.1 installed with the droidmod kernel. I have had no issues other than the stress test not finishing. Just curious to see what others are seeing for results.

Has anyone done a drop test on the Droid?I love the phone but hate how my case makes it look even more clunky. I used to have a blackberry which I dropped many times, and it was fine.I'd love to just use a skin. Thoughts?

It's running smoothly for me. App pop-in on te home screen seems to be fixed finally. But that might be the difference between Launcher Pro and ADWLauncher, since ADW comes stock now. Honestly not seeing much different. Although ADW seems to be snappier than Launcher Pro was. Probably because it's native now?
Anybody else running this? I feel like it's all Pete's BB talk around her lately.

Don't know if any of you have had your SMS just stop sending/receiving? I've been texting my girlfriend back and forth for like 15 minutes then nothing was going back and forth. Hope its the service and not the phone, I really don't want to go change it again.

So this is my second camera test for the Motorola Droid X VS the HTC Droid Incredible. First test I did completely stock, but I used flash vs no flash. This one I am using all stock, not touching flash, I am using still objects. No variants what so ever.
I tried my best... once again Incredible was not agreeing with focusing properly. For small objects I tried many times, it would not budge. For large objects it did great though.
The X was superior because it would focus on small objects with ease and I would only have to snap ONE picture.
The Incredible did better in one area, the computer screen shot. I only had to snap one picture of the screen, where as needed to do 2 - 3 to get a good shot of it on the X.
I noticed the colours on the Incredible are warmer, where as the the X colours were a little cooler. IMO.
So still, my vote is with the X.
The Incredible does have a great camera though.
STOCK X: 6MP WIDESCREEN. NO FLASH.
STOCK INC: 8 MP, NO FLASH.

There have been multiple threads of people saying they are experiencing sound popping when using the 3.5mm jack, most of them say its on Pandora others will say that it happens on all mp3's or a few mp3's that otherwise sound perfect when played on their computer. To test I want to see if its a defect in hardware or if it just another Droid Does problem. I always consistently experience sound popping with my Sony headphones while playing Home by Michael Buble. If you go to youtube and search "home buble" play the first search result in high quality and turn the media volume to maximum. Listen in about 45 seconds and let me know if you hear popping.

I'm writing an Android JUnit test and want to copy/reset a test fixture file (it's an SQLite database file.) If I were within the main application, I know I could just place the file in the assets directory and use getResources().getAssets().open(sourceFile).However, this API appears to be unavailable from the ActivityInstrumentationTestCase2 class.Is there an easy way to copy a file over from the testing PC, or should I just keep a fresh copy of a test fixture on the device and copy it over a temporary file?

I am using ActivityInstrumentationTestCase2 to do some test for an activity. I get a button in the setUp() method like this: protected void setUp() throws Exception {super.setUp(); act = getActivity(); btn = Button)act.find ViewById ( R.id.bike_button ); // this button has been defined in layout} Then I use this button to perform a click in a test method like this: public void testBikeButton(){ //click the bike button btn.performClick();}

I have a project (that compiles and runs in the emulator.) I have a test project that tests part of this project. This test project also compiles with no problems, but when I try to run (test) it in the emulator, I get a NoClassDefFoundError exception on one of the classes my test class tests (I hope that made sense!) when it starts to run in the emulator. This is coming out of the adb log. I looked in the bin directory (of the test project) for the missing class, but could not find it... Should it be there? I found no reference (apk, etc) of the project I am trying to test either in the test projects bin directory. How does the test project get the classes it needs to test against (in the classpath, I assume.) How do the tested classes get moved to the emulator? I did try running the app before testing, so I know it is installed and runs correctly. BTW, I am using netbeans with the nbandroid plugin.

I have never used JUnit before, and now I'm trying to set it up on an Android project.My project under test is fairly complex, including some JNI, but my test project, at the moment, is completely trivial. I have found many examples (that look totally different) online of how to make a test project, but it seems that no matter which one I follow, I get the same results.Here's my JUnit project code:package com.mycompany.myproject.test;
import android.test.AndroidTestCase;public class SimpleTestCaseExample extends Android TestCase {public void test_testOne() {fail("Just Always Fail");When I run, I see the following in Logcat:
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: numtests=2
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: test=test_testOne
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS_CODE: 0
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: id=InstrumentationTestRunner
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: current=2
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: class=com.mycompany.myproject.test.SimpleTestCaseExample
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: stream=
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: numtests=2
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: test=testAndroidTestCaseSetupProperly
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS_CODE: 1
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: id=InstrumentationTestRunner
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: current=2
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: class=com.mycompany.myproject.test.SimpleTestCaseExample
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: stream=.
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: numtests=2
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS: test=testAndroidTestCaseSetupProperly
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_STATUS_CODE: 0
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_RESULT: stream=
stdout Test results for InstrumentationTestRunner=..
stdout Time: 0.07
stdout OK (2 tests)
stdout INSTRUMENTATION_CODE: -1
But, I get the following in the Console:Launching instrumentation android.test. Instrumentation TestRunner on device emulator-5554 Collecting test information Test run failed: No test results I have tried a variety of different things, messing with the basic TestCase class, or the TestSuite class, or a variety of other options. I tried to just go for the most trivial example because I'm really still trying to learn how this works.Whatever I try, I see this error.

I'm working on a school project and I'm researching testing possibilities for Android applications. On this page: http: // developer . android . com/ resources / tutorials /testing /hello android. Google writes about a unit test. Is this really a unit test? A Unit test will not integrate all classes and will not test in his context. So my opinion is it is not a Unit Test but an Integration Test.

So I spent the last hour or more in my backyard in 107 degrees taking pictures of flowers at stock settings with both phones. NOT an easy task I will tell you that. My back hurts, but besides that... I did my best to show the best quality of BOTH cameras, because they are both great. I realize that not everyone will agree with me, or will think I messed with something in my pictures. But these are all completely stock settings, not messed with at all. I only touched the flash on/off button.My decision is I like the X camera better, it is easier to focus, and much snappier. Plus designated camera button! I found on the Incredible while the pictures look great on the phone itself and in gallery, that as soon as they were uploaded the colours looked washed out and not as great. I know this is due to the AMOLED screen. But both overall great. My decision is the X though.

I'm wondering if there is a way to hide some field in Android.
I tried with setting the value in a textedit and then make it invisible, but the result is that the value is invisible, but the control takes space.
In my case, I want to store some extra value in a row of a ListView, instead of using hidden fields, is there another solution?

If I have an EditText component on my screen that I have specified inputType="decimal" for (i.e. a numeric/decimal field), what is the best way to convert it to an decimal value in the application code?
Google recommends avoiding floats, and avoiding creating objects unnecessarily (and I assume any auto-unboxing code is bad too), so I take these as my constraints. I realize a small application probably doesn't need to worry too much, but I haven't been able to find a 'best-practice' solution to this.
The most common solution appears to be this:
double value = Double.parseDouble(txtInput);
