Android :: Field Test Mode On A Mobile Phone

Oct 23, 2009

After searching the groups and posts, i could not find a suitable answer to my question - On a Android mobile phone, where can i find the Field Test Mode/Application so that i can see cellular network information? On other mobile phone platforms, you can enter a number key sequence and a Field test mode is launched providing cellular network information e.g cell ID, signal strength. Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can acquire/activate Field Test Mode please?

Motorola Droid X :: Top Of Field Browser Right Now

Aug 29, 2010

Right now I have the stock browser, Dolphin HD, Skyfire, and xScope all installed and i'm trying to determine which one is really top of the field right now. I haven't gotten to play with Skyfire and xScope for an extended period of time so I was wondering the opinions of the users of this board which browsers they like the most and dislike the most, and most importantly, why. This is all with the 2.2 leak installed so Flash is a factor, and the stock browser does workna little better with Froyo installed. I know for certain that Dolphin isn't running so amazing now, Skyfire streaming flash videos doesn't let you skip to parts in the timeline, and xScope has the coolest icon.

Has anyone tried this out yet? It is in the "System Info" options of the latest Set CPU update. I tried it a few times on 1000 mhz and 1.2, but the phone froze or rebooted after running for a few minutes. I have BB 1.1 installed with the droidmod kernel. I have had no issues other than the stress test not finishing. Just curious to see what others are seeing for results.

Motorola Droid :: Cyanogenmod 5.0.8 - Test 4

Jun 13, 2010

It's running smoothly for me. App pop-in on te home screen seems to be fixed finally. But that might be the difference between Launcher Pro and ADWLauncher, since ADW comes stock now. Honestly not seeing much different. Although ADW seems to be snappier than Launcher Pro was. Probably because it's native now?

Anybody else running this? I feel like it's all Pete's BB talk around her lately.

Motorola Droid X :: VS HTC Droid Incredible: Camera Test - PT 2

Jul 19, 2010

So this is my second camera test for the Motorola Droid X VS the HTC Droid Incredible. First test I did completely stock, but I used flash vs no flash. This one I am using all stock, not touching flash, I am using still objects. No variants what so ever.

I tried my best... once again Incredible was not agreeing with focusing properly. For small objects I tried many times, it would not budge. For large objects it did great though.

The X was superior because it would focus on small objects with ease and I would only have to snap ONE picture.

The Incredible did better in one area, the computer screen shot. I only had to snap one picture of the screen, where as needed to do 2 - 3 to get a good shot of it on the X.

I noticed the colours on the Incredible are warmer, where as the the X colours were a little cooler. IMO.

So still, my vote is with the X.

The Incredible does have a great camera though.

STOCK X: 6MP WIDESCREEN. NO FLASH.
STOCK INC: 8 MP, NO FLASH.

Motorola Droid : Test 3.5mm Jack For Sound Popping (song Included)?

Nov 17, 2009

There have been multiple threads of people saying they are experiencing sound popping when using the 3.5mm jack, most of them say its on Pandora others will say that it happens on all mp3's or a few mp3's that otherwise sound perfect when played on their computer. To test I want to see if its a defect in hardware or if it just another Droid Does problem. I always consistently experience sound popping with my Sony headphones while playing Home by Michael Buble. If you go to youtube and search "home buble" play the first search result in high quality and turn the media volume to maximum. Listen in about 45 seconds and let me know if you hear popping.

Here is my code:.............

The logging outputs 1 for all the test cases for calculateQoS(int).

Am I missing something simple here? Why is the SignalLevel always 1?

something like : int rssi = intent.getIntExtra (BluetoothDevice.EXTRA_RSSI, Integer.MIN_VALUE);

But it just keep returning the latter default value.

Did anyone ever manage to get the value of RSSI? Do we need to pair the device before getting the RSSI?

Android :: Cell RSSI - Network Signal Strength - On 1.5

Feb 16, 2010

Is there any way to retrieve the current cellular Signal Strength (RSSI) on Android 1.5?

I know there's a way to listen for signal strength updates through the TelephonyManager, but this seems to only give a "state," not a numeric value.

Is using the RSSI field on a neighboring cell fairly accurate? I'm guessing not, but I'm running out of ideas.

Android :: UMTS Signal Strength - RSCP Or RSSI

Sep 27, 2010

I need some clarification on API docs.

http://developer.android.com/reference/android/telephony/SignalStreng... getSignalStrength() indicates: "Get the GSM Signal Strength, valid values are (0-31, 99) as defined in TS 27.007 8.5"

[url] getRSSI() indicates "received signal strength or UNKNOWN_RSSI if unknown For GSM, it is in "asu" ranging from 0 to 31 (dBm = -113 + 2*asu) 0 means "-113 dBm or less" and 31 means "-51 dBm or greater" For UMTS, it is the Level index of CPICH RSCP defined in TS 25.125"

So, for 3G UMTS networks, does the SignalStrength class not return the same value as the NeighboringCellInfo class ? What are the chances that each RIL implementation is sending something different ?

Has anyone see negative value for signalStrength on UMTS networks as is possible for RSCP index values ?

Missing Target Class To Test In Test Application?

Nov 10, 2011

I have a project (that compiles and runs in the emulator.) I have a test project that tests part of this project. This test project also compiles with no problems, but when I try to run (test) it in the emulator, I get a NoClassDefFoundError exception on one of the classes my test class tests (I hope that made sense!) when it starts to run in the emulator. This is coming out of the adb log. I looked in the bin directory (of the test project) for the missing class, but could not find it... Should it be there? I found no reference (apk, etc) of the project I am trying to test either in the test projects bin directory. How does the test project get the classes it needs to test against (in the classpath, I assume.) How do the tested classes get moved to the emulator? I did try running the app before testing, so I know it is installed and runs correctly. BTW, I am using netbeans with the nbandroid plugin.
