I have rooted my Desire and it works like a charm. Now when I want to upgrade my memory card from a 4Gb to a 8Gb card, I ran into some problems! My Desire refuses to start up with the new card, it comes to the boot screen and loops from there!
What am I doing wrong?

I have an X10 and 16 GB SanDisk SDHC card but have no idea how to transfer all files from old 2 GB SD card. Phone doesn't boot up with new 16 GB card. Even if I connected to PC via USB cable, it won't boot up. How can I upgrade this card?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 4GB SD card and it thinks that it has a total of 200MB on there (Its empty). I have tried formatting it using my Mac & via the phone itself but it continues to believe that its a 200MB MiniSD card.
View 1 Replies View RelatedNot had my desire long but down loaded a few apps for it they all seem to be stored on phone memory not the sd card. what is stored to the sd card seems to be unused so far. do you have to set it up to use sd card or does it know one is fitted. does it switch to sd card when phone memory full. will run out of space soon if can't get things to store to card instead of phone mem.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAs I had a Nokia N85 laying around, containing a 8GB micro SDHC class 6 memory card, I was planning on using this on my desire, since that only came with a 4gb card. However, I formatted the 8GB card in windows, (to fat 32). (I've might have formatted the partitions and everything as well). But either the Desire or PC cant find my SD card at this point. When I put the 8gb card into my N85 and then connect the N85 to my PC, the computer finds it. My N85 has no problem locating the SD card either. What to I have to do to the SD card to be able to use it with my Desire?

View 43 Replies View RelatedIf you have an app that targets 1.6 ( using targetSdkVersion=4 ) and that is still backward compatible with 1.5 (using minSdkVersion=3) , and it has the new WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission because it writes to the SD card, there is a problem when the OS is upgraded to 1.6. If a user has Android 1.5 with the app installed, and then gets Android 1.6, the permission is not granted and writing fails. The issue can be solved if the user re-installs the app. I have not experienced the issue myself, but a few users have reported it. Can anybody else confirm this. There is not much that can be done about it, but it would need to be adressed if there is another OS upgrade.

Should I use some backup app or just mount the 2 cards on the computer and copy all files from one card to the other? Does it matter? I am also curious how to backup the entire device prior to the 2.0 update coming. It seems like the 2.0 update will require flashing the phone. I assume it will erase everything? I wonder if sprint will provide an easy way to "upgrade" to 2.0 without losing everything on the phone.

Today I updated, and now my stereo does not detect the files on the SD card.I think it is only looking at the phone storage.Was the phone storage given some kind of higher priority in the update? Is there any way to keep my phone storage from being mounted?
Two weeks ago, after upgrading to 2.2 on my HTC Desire I lost the Market app - clicking on the short-cut produced an error and the market app has disappeared from the list of software.
Also, I don't seem to be able to install new programmes via app marketplace websites any more. I guess this is linked to the missing market app. How can I get it back?
