View 13 RepliesIt stopped working last night. Even if I go to accounts and sync in settings and manually press sync nothing happens. I tried clear data also in applications. I have phone storage low notification (although there is 15mb left) could this be something to do with the gmail not syncing issue.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs it best to store your contacts on your sim card, your phone or via Google?
Also, how easy will it be to sync or copy my phone contacts to my PC? Just as a back up more than anything -to make things easier when I get a new phone.
I'm not too bothered about calendars etc, as the missus does that for me! I don't think I've ever used a calendar on a mobile phone or computer in my life!
My primary e-mail address is a hotmail address. Is it possible to have this on the Desire? My understanding is that it's possible, but not for "push" e-mail? Eg. I'd have to check it manually in the mail app?
I do have a Google e-mail address for the Market etc
I just got the HTC Desire and I like it a lot - except for one thing: It is really awful at handling contacts. I have 250 friends on Facebook and 200 contacts in my gmail contacts and some on my SIM card as well. When I want to send an SMS I really only need access to those on my SIM card, but I get all the information from both gmail, SIM card and Facebook. Some people have 5 entries: One from SIM card, one cell number from Facebook, one home number from Facebook, one email from Facebook and one email from gmail. It is really cluttering up my list and makes it very confusing to send an SMS. Strange thing is: When I enter my "people" list I have set it up so it only shows people on my SIM card.
How can I make "Search People" only show the information from my SIM card? Of course I could just delete my Facebook account from "Accounts and Sync", but that still leaves the gmail information.
Just received my DHD and so far so good apart from syncing the calendars. My google calendars sync fine but when I do a PC sync only the contacts sync, I've checked the calendar settings and PC sync has a tick by it along with all my google calendars.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOver the last week my phone has stopped syncing with anything - googlemail, contacts, calender. The first time it was fixed with a restart but now that is not working.Even when I go to the sync page in settings and press 'sync all', nothing happens. I used to get the 'sync' circle spinning in the info bar at the top of the screen but it isn't even doing that.Have searched, but can't seem to find any info on this exact problem. Has anyone any ideas?

I was just wondering about when I go away from home how much data the syncing would use?I have 500mb internet a month and wonder if my Desire is always checking facebook, weather, etc every hour or so I would go over the limit?

I checked under 'Applications > Manage Applications' and it looks like the 'Data' is already cleared?
Is there a way to get it syncing correctly again?
I have set everything up to sync with my gmail account.
However, all my contacts are stored as phone so i know i either need to change them all to Google or export them and import into Gmail (a pain but there you go).
I have no contacts in gmail so i added one and it synced perfectly to my phone.
However, as a test, i added a new google contact to my phone and synced. It didn't show up in Gmail and I believe this can take some time, and this would be fine but it has disappeared from my phone!
It seems as if the sync has wiped out the contact from my phone because it doesn't appear on my gmail account. THis means it only syncs one way which is useless for me as the whole reason for me doing this is to get a backup of my contacts in case of emergencies!
I went into settings/accounts yesterday to stop weather from syncing, and noticed a red exclamation mark next to my 'myname@googlemail.com' account.
and below it says 'sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly.'
when i click on the google account it shows 3 tick boxes, all ticked, contacts, gmail and calendar.
but the contacts again has a red exclamation mark by it, and a date for the last sync of 23.08.10 which is when I updated to 2.2 using the RUU (i think).
I can use the marketplace, gmails come in ok, my calendar works fine and all other features of the phone are great. But its not syncing contacts anymore?
presumably I cant delete this account and recreate it as its the one the phone asked for on 1st boot and setup?
I have a Macbook with iCal configured to match my Google calendar account. The two sync together with no problem. I tried setting up my HTC Desire to sync with my Google account which should give me three way sync but I get the following problem: I open Calendar on my phone, I try to add an event, a message appears saying: YOU HAVE NO CALENDARS. On the settings side, if I hit MENU then MORE and I choose CALENDARS I can't see my Google account. If I hit SETTINGS there is nothing to add my Google account. If I go to the ACCOUNTS & SYNC settings, I see my Google account, but when I hit my account, the data synchronization theme only shows SYNC CONTACTS and SYNC GMAIL, there is no SYNC GOOLGLE CALENDAR. I had Syncmate installed on my macbook and had it configured on my Desire, but it didn't sync the calendar either so I deleted it from my accounts. Could this be causing my problem or does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen following the guide written elsewhere on this forum on getting my contacts to work with Voice Search an issue has cropped up with my Youtube account. I had no problems before but now my phone refuses to sync the account and I'm constantly getting an error telling me that 'syncing is unavailable at the moment'. I've removed the account and added it back on but have had no luck. When I try to re-enter the password I'm told it's wrong even though I know it isn't. I can't see what I'm doing wrong.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have all my contacts in my googlemail account. When I go to settings/Accounts & Sync on my Desire, and sync, it seems to sync from the Desire to my googlemail page on my PC, but not the other way round - which is a problem for me because all the correct contacts are on my PC. It also tends to duplicate or even triplicate most of contacts. On the PC there is the merge setting, but not on the Desire. I've tried deleting all my contacts on the Desire, but syncing doesn't repopulate it.
I have all my appointments on my Desire calendar, which seems to only sync from my PC to the Desire. As I enter my appointments on the Desire, and would like to have them on my PC, this, too, is a problem.
I got my HTC Desire recently and love the phone. Have got pretty much everything going and have now switched my personal email from Yahoo to Googlemail.I moved my contacts from yahoo into gmail, all fine. I have also previously got my phone contacts to sync from the phone into gmail.Having got both lots of contacts into gmail i have sorted and merged them on my PC so they are all correct. However, i cannot get the contacts now to sync back from gmail to my phone? When i go to account settings for google and ask it to sync it syncs the calendar and the googlemail but not the contacts despite the refresh symbol appearing next to the contacts option.Basically, how do i get my phone to suck the contacts back out of google and on to the phone itself.I am using google contacts in the phone menu, not SIM or phone so it is nothing to do with that.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI un-synced my facebook account on my Desire because I wanted to replace the old 'Favourites' photo's from old profile pics to new ones that some of my friends have changed. When I re-synced it, this was successful, but all my existing Contacts went haywire and my existing Sim contacts became invisible.
View 3 Replies View Relatedok so my contacts WERE synced to my facebook and it gave me their number name birthday etc etc etc..
I wanted to update the contact image as i know a few have changed and to do this was told remove the account and then re add it after a short break and it will sync..
well i did that and it has now left me with "facebook friends (0)" which is complete balls... if i use the facebook phonebook folder on the home screen it shows everyone that was on my contacts..
when i hit people and online directory and menu refresh it does nothing.. and sometimes comes back with connection error.. or nothing at all.
i thought it was a problem with phone so i backed everything up and decided factory reset to see if this would fix (plus i needed to free all the crap apps off) still nothing.
is this a problem with sync today or something ? anyone else having similar problems?
I have recently bought a HTC desire. I am able to receive my hotmail emails and can send them back but when I look on my laptop it still showed unread messages on both hotmail and outlook even when I have read them on my phone. I used to have an INQ phone and I didn't have any problems with this before.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI want to sync the Birthdays already saved to my contacts to my Calendar.
I don't use Gmail other than for the Marketplace and I don't have Facebook sync'd.
Ideally I'd have reminders on the day of the Birthday.
Right this might be a completely fucktard question but i'm going to ask it anyway coz i don't want to lose information that will take me ages to gather again. When i was first putting contacts into my phone a month ago (how time flies) i kept losing the information i had put in because my gmail account was empty and when it was syncing with the phone it wiped what i had added to the phone.I disabled the contact syncing and carried on filling my people section up on my phone. Now, how do i get the contacts on my phone into my gmail account on the pc?I don't want to just enable syncing again incase it wipes all the contacts i've put into the phone!
View 4 Replies View RelatedHTC Desire. Google Contacts on PC (and laptop) and phone. These used to sync okay between each media. Whatever I changed on the pc/Laptop, would be reflected on the phone, and whatever I changed on the phone, would be reflected on the pc/Laptop. For the last week or so this has not been happening. Whether I change, add, or delete, on the pc/laptop or mobile phone, these changes are not reflected on the other media. The Calendar still syncs okay between the phone and pc/laptop. Now, is this a phone issue? A Google issue? A sync issue?

All of a sudden, it isn't syncing one of my google calendars (i have 3, all on the same account, and the other 2 are shown)I have gone into the settings of the calendar, and the missing calendar is listed and ticked. However, nothing is shown on the calendar on the phone (there are events if i check it online).

However,I noticed that when I'm away from my WiFi network at home, I cannot sync with this email account. I get a "Network error" alert.
With Hotmail, I have no difficulties at all. My Hotmail account is able to sync where ever I go whether on or off WiFi. I'm currently with Bell (Canada). I used to own a Nokia N97 and had no difficulties with Shaw on that phone.
