I have the desire but do not use the VPN feature. My old man is looking at getting a Desire but needs good VPN access. Has anyone had any experience in using it as he has heard from one of his friends he has difficulty in accessing it!

For some reason on my HTC desire, I cannot access my SD card. It says 'Blank SD card' in the notifications section. For this to happen on a phone is completely unacceptable. Before my SD card was rendered unusable, I used to get problems like whenever I try to take a photo, it would not allow me to because of an SD card issue. Restarting would solve that. That is also unacceptable. Where do I go from here? Have i lost all my data? What is to sat that this wont happen again?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought my phone cash and stuck my O2 sim card in it. My contract comes with free access to The Cloud wi-fi hotspots but I think I need some sort of app to access it. I tried customer services but the girl said she couldn't help because O2 don't yet sell the Desire. She spoke to the technical department and then came back and told me how to access the wi-fi in my house. Any suggestions, or do I need to wait until they start to sell the handset? What if I had another handset that they don't plan to sell?!

View 1 Replies View Related1st Post, got my htc desire this morning and after researching for a long time already knew i wanted to root my device.I followed the instructions on this site.[HOWTO] Root Your Desire In 1 Click With UnrEVOked! *UPDATED 20/7* - xda-developers I used unrevoked3, and rooted the device. no trouble Ive backed up the device with titanium backup. Placed cyanogen onto the 4gb sd card which came with the phone.Power off the device. Rebooted whilst holding the volume down button. Got the options up. Navigated to recovery and selected it with the power button. The screen goes blank. The o2 screen comes up saying welcome and thats it, it freezes. I have to pull the battery out of the back in order to reset the device and then it starts up perfectly normal. Tried accessing recovery mode using the clockworkmod but i get the same result.All of the points on the link above were followed. Im pretty much right at the bottom! still researching the net for the answer but im now in need of additional

When it is turned off I can't access emails or the internet yet my data plan is working and Bell has input my IMEI into their system.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSometimes when I turn on the screen there's a notice saying that backing up to SD had failed, so I try to look at the contents of the card and I can't see any of my files. Sometimes I notice it when I try to take a picture and it'll say that it doesn't have the required access. Other times, I've just wanted to access something on the card and noticed it had happened. Now, this sounds like it happens all the time, but it's only a couple of times a week, but quite annoying nonetheless.
The only solution I have found is to turn off the phone, and then turn it back on again. I have tried with the programs SDRemount and SDRescan, but neither have any effect. Is it an issue with the SD card that would go away if I got a new one? I have searched for this topic several times in here, without finding it, but I think something goes wrong in the search process (even if I just search for SD, nothing is found, and I'm quite sure SD has been mentioned a couple of times in here.
If I go to the application manager I can see there these apps. Google talk, ringtone trimmer and stream media player by HTC, but they're not in the menu. How can I access them?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I've *finally* got my Desire after much hassle with T-Mobile, and it's shiny and lovely and new, but I can't access the Android Market When I open the Market app, it takes me to the page to set up my Google Account, I enter my details, it thinks about it for a minute or two, and then tells me that I 'don't have a network connection'. It asks if I want to connect to a Wifi hotspot, but I'm already connected to the wireless box in my flat. The Internet's working on my phone, because I've been surfing the web and going on Facebook, YouTube etc.

However the sim works fine making calls, and using the wifi, but I cannot access the mobile internet. Three have told me the mobile is not compatible as it is not a three phone. Can anyone please assist? When i boot up the phone T Mobile branding appears, has this got anything to do with it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been pulling my hair trying to read forums and find the correct solution to my issue. Whenever I connect to the computer whether its on "charger only", "disk drive", or whatever, it still doesn't allow me to access my SD card.I've tried the following:
1. uninstalling doubletwist
2. connecting, going back from charger only to disk drive.
3. ejecting the removable hardware and switching from charger only to disk drive and still nothing.
If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate this.
Randomly, usually a day after I take a photo or shoot a movie, the files in my gallery get broken, and I can't access them. They work just fine directly after I take them, but after some time they are unaccessible. My phone gallery looks like this: Some photos/videos work, others don't. After downloading them to my computer Windows can't read them either. Is anyone familiar with this problem? What can I do? SD card - 32GB, formatted in the phone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHaving been optimistic that I would finally be able to use all the fancy bits of the internet with my Desire, I find myself somewhat nobbled. I am particularly interested in using the BBC site - but I can't access any audio, video or iplayer from my phone. Beebplayer worked once, literally, but can now only access radio stations. I have done some reading and understand that:the BBC haven't yet released a proper Android app. the Flash lite that comes with 2.1 may not work with everything, some people have found incompatibility issues with T-mobile. I appreciate that BBC is not the only fruit, but for a user of a multi-media phone, I find it crazy that I can't use their site properly. I don't appear to be able to access any live TV or news streaming elsewhere either. My phone is not a fashion accessory - I bought it because I wanted a phone and reliable and quick access to news (in different forms), without the premium of an iPhone. It's so frustrating, I feel like I've bought the wrong phone, even though I know it's not really the handset itself that's the problem! After all, it is marketed as having Flash and being more than able to cope with multi media on the internet. but apparently not for everyone. Whilst waiting for Android 2.2, the BBC, T-mobile... or whatever else needs updating. what can I do?

Here's were my problem lies - At my workplace I get a H signal but can't gain access to the android market, browse the Internet or use Facebook etc. Has anyone else experienced the same problem or have any ideas on how to fix this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedHaving really inconsistent data access on my unrooted HTC Desire/Orange.
Normally either 4 things happen:
1. The phone constantly flicks between 3G and H.
2. The phone will just hang in 3G/H
3. The phone says there is no data connection.
4. Reluctant to use G when 3G appears to be unavailable.
At first I thought it was my phone but really it only happens in certain places which indicates a signal issue. This is North London though, not countryside.
However sometimes rebooting the phone or reconnecting the data works, which indicates a phone problem. However reconnecting the mobile can take a very long time which indicates a signal problem.
Then the other day I was playing with other SIMs when mine just would not connect. My friend's Virgin Mobile worked fine. Then I tried a spare Orange SIM card and it went straight into G and stayed there. I think it could be a 2G SIM card. The SIM card appeared to get a higher signal strength as well. Could my SIM really cause a difference?
It might be an app, but if is it will be hard to track down.
Changing my phone will be a hassle i'm sure so only want to do this in the last resort. I can't seem to nail the problem down. Does anyone else have data problems with their Desire on Orange? Especially in London?
I am trying to connect my desire to a Netgear Rangemax Wireless Access Point WPN802 v2. This is on an independent network where I work. Basically I am trying to look smart by controlling machinery using a VNC app on the phone. I have full access rights to the netgear, the desire picks can see it, but when I try and connect it just says obtaining IP address unsuccessful. I have tried manually setting a static IP address in the phone to match the network, but just the same result. I am starting to question whether the phone just wont connect or I am not set right. What makes matters worse is my mates Iphone hooks up to the network almost straight away with no real fiddling of settings.

The original wifi router is in my upstairs office, but gave poor coverage in some downstairs rooms, so I set up an "extended service set" wireless network with two access points, the original router upstairs and a Solwise homeplug WiFi extender extender downstairs (with a powerline link between the wireless router and the Solwise wifi extender), each using a different channel but the same WPA password.Every other wireless device in the house works happily between the two, but my Desire only seems to want to log on to the main router and defaults to mobile internet access in the 'difficult' areas. It seems to repeatedly try to get an address from the network downstairs, but reports 'unsuccessful' and keeps retrying.Any suggestions?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHTC Desire Z (Vision). I S-OFFed how it's described on CM wiki. Latest radio. About month ago I installed CM 10.1 AlterNdromadus. It worked until yesterday, when it unfortunately installed some system update.
After that phone didn't booted anymore. In recovery it says, that it can't access system partition and formatting is not possible.
I tried connect the phone via fastboot in bootloader, but it also doesn't work. Under windows I have it as unknown device and when I tried manually install drivers from google, it says that they are not compatible with the HW (under ROM it worked before).
I tried also install stock RUU rom (extracted the zip and deleted H-BOOT, radio and recovery) from SD-card (PC10IMG.zip). But it also got frozen on system update.
Here you can see error from 4EXT recovery and CRC images from bootloader.
