I just completed the RUU update to get my Telus Desire onto froyo and all went smoothly...except...now I don't have data? Phone works, wifi connection works...but I don't have data off wifi.

A few months ago it started randomly resetting itself. 2 months ago it started resetting itself then going into a reset loop for a few minutes until it stayed on. A little while ago it just started shutting off and not turning back on for a couple of hours.
I searched on Google and there was a suggestion to update the software. I read the instructions and noted it said to do a backup. I went to m.sonyericcson.com/backup on the phone, downloaded the latest backup software, and created a backup. Took quite awhile but said it was successful. I then connected to the computer and did the software update. Turned the phone on and tried to do my restore thinking everything worked great. Unfortunately when I load the backup file it says
File Error: Cannot read selected backup file
Did I just totally ***** myself and lose all of my data? Any ideas on how to make this backup file work? I will go back to 1.6 if it means I can actually use my phone, at this point it is useless without any of my contacts, programs or text conversations
So i did the update to froyo went smoothly however no data. phone works but can't get on internet or setup gmail. went back to cyanogen and still no data now.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy friend just lost his Desire at an airport. The pattern lock is active, but that does nothing but protect the data on the phone - Not SD. The first thing they would do is to switch the phone off and replace the sim.
Now here is my question : Is there an app that will send an sms to a preallocated number if the phone is booted up with a different sim? I know some Samsung phones can do this. But having an app that requires your own sim to be able to find it if stolen is quite pointless.

what will be lost, contacts? photos? apps installed? im guessing SD card data will be unaffected.
Took my HTC Desire to Italy and since then have lost all mobile data connections - though works fine on WiFi. Switched on airplane mode for flights, and switched off data roaming to reduce overseas costs. But when switched back on to use internet couldn't get any network connection. Now back in the UK still same issue - no internet, and cannot send MMS picture messages - even when in strong 3G signal Tried all the options I can find but no joy at all.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got the shock of my life when I looked at my data counter and found that I'd used 3x my monthly allowance, and about 6x more data than I normally use. I've not installed any new apps recently, all that is different is that I upgraded to Froyo about a week ago. I even removed Facebook, due to the battery issue, so I have no idea what is suddenly consuming so much data. Can anyone recommend an app that will show you what is actively using your data connection, or can tell me what has been using the connection recently? I really need to find out what the app is, and kill it, as I've had to disable my data connection to prevent any further costs. FWIW, been looking at the phone this morning, and the data connection is constantly live, so whatever it is, it's using data all the time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAll the sudden today i just lost my 3g data connection. I actually saw the airplane symbol for a min or two as well. I toon it to sprint and they couldnt get the data connection back thy tried some kind of "activation" which didnt work then they wanted to have the phone for a day which j cjldnt do today. Now i disabled the 3g on the phone and turned it back off and on again and it said it was runnjng the activation again but this time t ran through and i turned 3g back on and the arrows show up but they never flash but i am on the pjone now posting this.

If you must do it, back your SD card up first.
Has anyone turned off copy protection on their app recently? We're finding that Motorola Backflip users can't see our paid apps, so we'd like to turn off copy protection as it doesn't seem to prevent pirating. But, we're worried that existing users will lose their saved preferences. According to bug 2047, the issue was fixed in November 2009, but according to some discussions, it actually still exists. It'd be great to hear positive or negative examples from anyone who's tried this recently. We're also thinking of putting out a dummy app to test things out and will report back if we do.

I'm not sure what did it but the last message I got was there was too many songs on it and that is not true. It's an 8gb card with 700+ songs 15 pics and 4 ringtones so it being full is bs. I don't know what killed it but I suspect Ringdroid or 91Pandhome both have been acting funny for a couple of days force closing alot. Anyone else have this happen to them and is there a way to recover the data on the card as my laptop just does not see it anymore.

I would prefer not to have to re-install but I will if it is necessary. Also will I be able to receive any further OTA updates? I know that the one scheduled for tomorrow is most likely the last that this phone will see but just in case I want all of my bases covered. I would also like to take advantage of possibly putting 2.2 on it if there is not an official release so I can take advantage of the awesome features that 2.2 offers. I really don't care about loosing SenseUi because I use Launcher Pro and love it and prefer not to switch back to SenseUi. One more thing. I really want to take out certain apps that came with the phone that are only a nuisance to me such as amazonmp3, Stocks, Tweet & google talk. And of course take advantage of the apps that are available only to rooted phones.

(and then it ended). i had no internet access after that for 2 days until i returned home and it came back at exactly the same spot on the interstate where i'd lost it. i was in major metro areas during these 2 days and my wife's incredible always had internet access while i did not.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Evo was having some issues, so I did a complete factory reset. Beforehand I moved the Angry Birds app to my SD and then unmounted it. However, when the reset was complete, the app didnt show up on the SD but on my computer it said there was an Angry Bird file there. Angry Birds wouldnt install so I followed some instructions and unmounted the SD and then was able to install it, but now all my completed levels are gone.
Is there any way to get them back?
A couple days ago I manually installed froyo for Rogers network.It went fine.however the next day I lost my data.I can't get it back no matter what I do.Can anyone help me get it back?Or know how?I checked my APN settings a million times,I called Rogers and they refreshed my network but still not working. If I reboot my phone, I get the 3g symbol for about 2 seconds then it goes away and that's it.Someone please help me if you can!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have heaps of added apps on my Galaxy Gio, as a result of which (despite rooting and moving all I can to SD card) I'm forever running out of memory (I presume this means RAM - I'm a bit new to all this!). Sometimes I can't even do an update of an existing app without it aborting due to low memory.
So today I went through the apps list and cleared the data for every app that I thought I didn't use. BUT all my carefully arranged home screens (full of my own app icons) disappeared, and reverted to the phone default icons!
I can eventually rebuild my several home screens, but I'd like to learn which particular app's data stores that information (home screen layouts), so I don't ever clear it again!
I just got a Milestone 3 (Droid 3) from Alltel (the Alltel that was divested from the Verizon buyout), who is actually Atlantic Telecom Network. They are a great local carrier who has the best coverage in my area.
I rooted the phone, installed various wireless tether apps but whenever I use any of them, I instantly lose my 3G data connection along with a message that says "3G data link lost". Sometimes is comes back right after turning the hotspot off and other times I have to reboot. It never happened with Verizon.
Tried to use swype and the blue line wwent crazy. It extended past the screen and to uninstall. Will reinstall help.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had to do a system update to my phone as it completely locked itself after too many unlock attempts in my pocket and I didn't know my google account. Basically, before my update I had a Satnav app, that I'm pretty sure i didn't download but was on my phone from stock (but I might be wrong). I think it was called Navigation, and it had an update recently that allowed it to have vocal commands, i.e. "Turn left in 100 yards" etc. It had the same blue arrow that the Google Maps Navigation had as the app icon. It's useful to me as I'm a delivery driver and when you get near to the 'target' house it shows a picture of which house it is, it's really accurate, and has that satellite layer on it that helps out too. I really need this app back and have been looking (both on the marketplace and on the phones memory) for it for a while to no avail.
