I know a lot of people have been having this problem AFTER updating to Froyo, but I haven't done the update yet and my Gmail just quit pushing about 2 days ago. I've had my Evo a little over a month and this is the first time this has been a problem. It's not even that it's just delayed, it will not push AT ALL without a manual refresh. Sometimes even the manual refresh doesn't bring up all of the most recent stuff.
I've tried hard and soft resets.
Deleted account and reinstated account.
I only have one Google account.
Google Calendar works.
GTalk is logged in and working.
Again, I know this has been a post-Froyo problem for many and Google is addressing it (according to another thread on here), but what about for those of us still on Eclair?

Is anyone else experiencing a problem with email push since the update to Froyo? I have to manually check my emails not because not one of my email accounts is pushing anymore. I have checked in account and sync to verify that the sync is turned on. For some reason, I'm not getting my emails. This worked before and is longer functional. Anyone else having this issue? What should I do?

I've had no problems with push email from gmail to my Desire since I had it - about 2 months ago.
Today though it's not popping up notifications.
I've tried clearing the gmail cache but still the same.
Does anyone know if it's my device or google issue?

I'm setting up my new desire, and gmail works just fine, but the push email or email notification perhaps rather, is acting kind of irrational.
First when I set it up it would go off at about the same time as my email checker on my computer using imap idle. On the second email arriving though there is no more notification from the desire phone, this may be a feature although a weird one. Now I go into the inbox on the desire and delete the 2 emails in question and exit. The next time an email arrives the phone will react but not nearly as fast, it can be minutes or even more.

I'm new to Android having just bought an HTC Desire HD. Great piece of kit but I'm having a lot of problems with connectivity of various apps, especially email and market. Last night, my phone offered an OS update, which I accepted. Since then, my MS Exchange push email has stopped working. I can still sync manually from the email folder, but emails are not being pushed to the phone. Nothing's changed on the exchange side.
Questions:
Anyone else seen this behvaiour?
If so, is there a fix / work-around?
Is there a way to see an OS updates install history?
Is there a way to roll-back an update?

I've lost my Voice Search since doing the Froyo update. I've searched the market and cant find it. My search key used to be configured for long press to open voice search and I really miss the functionality.

I have a strange problem with Push email on my HTC Desire. I can set this up no problem - email comes in but only manually. I cannot get the push to actually work. When I go into the send receive schedule I can set up the days/hours for peak off peak and push but regardless of what I set these to be, when I go back to the previous screen it always says the Schedule is Manual. I've tried setting up lots of variations from manual through timed to push but still the same. Net result is push never seems to happen - manual overrides my schedule. To pick up email I have to go into email and do a manual sync.

I've had my Incredible for almost a week now and I still havent brought myself to set up my Gmail to POP my work and Hotmail accounts. I just don't care for the Gmail system or client for Android OS.
I DO have a Gmail account (pretty much forced into it) but my main accounts are Hotmail and my own custom domain (non-exchange).
Yes, i'm coming from a Blackberry and have been spoiled with the best Push technology out there. No, i will not go back to Blackberry, so please spare the suggestions.
What i am wondering is if there is any 3rd party app out there that will Pop your email acct(s) and push the mail to your phone to either the stock HTC Mail app or it's own 3rd party client.
I've seen K-9 - but not sure if this is what i'm looking for.
I've seen Touchdown - but this appears to be only for Exchange.
Can either of these applications provide Push Email to Android or are there any others out there? If not, does anyone know of any on the horizon?

Is anyone else's push email from Gmail broken? Mine is. I've played with the settings, restored to the stock rom, sent myself an email from the computer, but the notification never comes up. If I go into Gmail, the mail is sitting there for me to read though.

Busy forum today, so I thought I would post this and try to get a response. Picked up the Droid/Motorola today and have been trying to figure out the Email App vs the GMail App and where I should tie my accounts in.
I have 4 GMail accounts, 2 Local ISP accounts, and 1 Exchange account. Setting up the Exchange account was pretty straight-forward and the phone put that account into the EMAIL application. The exchange account is also listed under the sync settings (since I assume exchange is pushed and therefore it gets labeled as a Sync On/Off ability). The local ISP accounts are POP and therefore also get placed into the EMAIL app due to them being pulled at my "every 5 minutes" setting.
The 4 GMail accounts are my real question. It basically comes down to this... Originally I setup the 4 accounts in the EMAIL app vs the GMAIL app; primarily because thats what I thought I needed to do. The problem I was was having though, is I wasn't receiving my email notifications and/or not receiving my email in a timely manner (push). I then figured out how to set them up in the GMAIL app and moved 2 of the accounts over there and ran some tests.
Emails sent to the 2 accounts in the GMAIL app were pushed to the device nearly instantly. Often times I would receive notification on the device before I got them on my desktop. The emails sent to the gmail accounts on the EMAIL app didn't notify me until the fetch timer (5 minutes) kicked in.
Now even though the auto-configure feature of the EMAIL app when setting up the gmail account defaulted to IMAP rather than POP, I wouldn't think that IMAP would be quicker. I guess it doesn't matter, it all depends on the fetch frequency in your settings.
The problem is, I like, almost love, the combined Inbox feature of the EMAIL application. I also like the account color-coding it does to make reading emails in the combined inbox easier. From what I can tell, the GMAIL app doesn't have such a feature and I need to Menu>>All Accounts>>Select Account>>Open Email to read an incoming message. I assume the GMail app takes advantage of Google Sync and therefore pushes your email to the device, but apparently this isn't available in the EMAIL app itself?

Is there any way to enable the notification bar to display the email header (sender, subject, date/time) of the latest email received, as well as the number of new emails in the notification tray?
I am coming from a Pre, which had a very nice notification system. The new email notification would show the sender, subject, and number of new emails. You could then click to either go to the mailbox, or directly to the latest new email shown at your discretion.
I have set up both GMail through the GMail app, and an Exchange server through the Mail app, but the only notification I get is "New email" without specifics. Also, clicking won't bring me directly to the new email, but to the Inbox.

I have been reading up on the concept of push email, and how it's supposed to be a huge battery saver (since in theory, the phone would only receive a notification of an e-mail, and not the actual e-mail itself). I have also been reading up on how the "Gmail" app's version of Push email is not the same as other Push e-mail software, in that it requires the phone to "Sync" whenever an e-mail hits the Gmail server. As a result, whenever I would try to turn Auto Sync off (supposedly to save battery), I would no longer be able to get my e-mail notifications in real time.
With this in mind, I attempted to find another application that would enable me to use Push email for my Gmail account, without having to "Sync" with Gmail's server. After messing around for a bit, I found that I could manually input my Gmail account info (Incoming Server, Outgoing Server, Username, Pass, Etc.) into the stock "Email" app that comes with the X. Once this was done, I was able to enable "Data Push" in the "Email" app's Settings menu (as well turning off any Polling intervals). By doing this, I was able to receive new Gmail notifications through the "E-mail" app, even when Auto Sync had been turned off. As a bonus, I received them around 15 seconds faster than I did with the "Gmail" app's version of Push.....

I'm having problems setting up my Gmail account with the HTC push email widget. I did enter my Gmail account details when I first set up the phone and they were accepted. I'll walk you through what I do.
1. Go to home screen with large Mail widget then click on it.
2. Click 'Other (POP3/IMAP)'
3. I then enter my email address and password. They are definitely correct. Then I press 'Next'.
4. I then arrive at the 'Incoming Settings' page.
5. I choose IMAP.
6. My email address is already there. My username is there, albeit with 'googlemail' following it (I have tried deleting that - still didn't work).................

Right, I'm fairly certain my GMail isn't using push to notify me of new emails arriving as I have just gone into GMail and hit the refresh button and it's fired out 3 new emails from throughout the day.I need to manually set push notifications or should it happen automatically?

My push mail on Gmail stopped working in the last few days and I realised it was about the same time I installed CoPilot.
I've tried removing some apps and resetting the device but still no push email.
Unfortunately this happened a few weeks ago and it was down to google servers which fixed itself after a while.

I have just swtiched from Blackberry to the HTC Desire. On my Blackberry, push email was exactly that - it was instant. On my new Desire I can't seem to find any settings to set it up in the same sort of way i.e instant email. I have succesfully set up around 4 or 5 accounts and the nearest settings I found was setting it to download every 5 minutes. Is this the nearest the Desire get's to push email?

On my plan I have 500mb internet usage & unlimited push email. I currently use K9 to get my mail from 2 POP ac's but the downloads from these come from my 500mb data rather than the unlimited push allowance.

Orange give me unlimited push email, but I can?t for the life of me get it setup. I should be able to go to Orangeworld and setup 3 email accounts to be pushed, so I go to orangeworld.co.uk/emailsetup/ (using gprs only) and click on a link ?setup and manage your email? this page says that I will receive a text within an hour with a link to add my first account but this text never arrives. Tried it several times but no text
Called Orange but they steered me in completely the wrong direction, and now their customer services is closed for the night.

I use Microsoft Outlook 2007 as my MAIN email and calendaring software. I will be accessing my mail and calendar via Outlook on my office PC for the vast majority of time.
My main email accounts are currently configured as POP3 but are also configured to leave copies of messages on the server for 30 days, which allows me to check new messages via my ISPs webmail when out of the office.
I have considered changing to IMAP for my main email account but have purposely avoided it up to now as I have a huge number of mail folders and messages my Outlook pst file is currently 7.2GB. A lot of those are for archive reference and I dont need to see them on other devices BUT, as I understand it, IMAP does not let me only select certain folders to mirror and sync between different devices (it must sync all of them) so I feel it would be unwieldy to use IMAP on my account. (If anyone knows of a way to set IMAP to only include specific folders please let me know!).
I do have a Google Mail account already, but rarely use it its just there as a back-up account. Ive NOT as yet imported my Outlook contacts or calendar into my Google account.
Now I know that I can use HTC Sync to sync up my Contacts and Calendar, but what Ive read suggests that the phone works best when you sync it with your Google account. I COULD of course import my Outlook Contacts and Calendar into my Google account, and I COULD also use my Gmail account to check mail from my main POP3 accounts. However, Im unsure about going down that route as Im worried that might confuse things, cause conflicts, or cause double-work for me when I update my contacts or calendar from Outlook or from Google. Are there possible problems with going down that route?
Secondly, Im very intrigued to have read that Gmail is more efficient for the phone as Ive read it works as a push email service. That is, I dont need to check my mail by doing a send/receive from my phone either manually or automatically at set intervals, but that Gmail will just automatically PUSH new emails to my phone as soon as they arrive. Is that correct?
If it is correct it sounds good, but does that mean my phone must be or will be permanently connected to the net? As I dont use my mobile that much Im on a Pay-As You-Go service so need to ensure my phone is ONLY connecting to a data connection when I need it to. Will I be able to work-around this?
I know HTC Sync doesn't transfer Outlook Notes or Tasks. Has anyone found, or can recommend, an app that will do that for me?

As it says above really. I've rooted to the new Froyo with sense release (seems slow but stable) and all was well until I restored with mybackup pro. Some apps were missing even though they showed as installed and even so, I've got A LOT less internal memory than before and I'm still having to uninstall stuff
I thought Froyo was supposed to let you install apps to SD?
