HTC Desire :: Convention Of Video Numbers Into Name?
May 27, 2010I have transferred videos on to the phone, but the names are not there, just numbered? Is there a convention to follow to make sure I watch the correct video?

View 5 RepliesI'm developing an Android project which currently has 4 packages:
com.myapp.app.activities
com.myapp.app.db
com.myapp.app.ws
com.myapp.app.utils
Would I be able to create an additional package which is just com.myapp.app. Eclipse isn't letting me create this package. It tells me a package with this name already exists. If I start a new project and create a package called "com.testing.app" and then create a new package called "com.testing.app.activities" afterward, it works fine.
For Android developers: What I'm wanting to do is extend the Application class and have it in a separate package. Suppose com.myapp.app can't be used, what's a good name for this new package?
I thought might be cool and am looking to see if there would be any interest and if so some feedback. Every year there's always massive conventions in the electronics industry as well as every other industry involving big players. However, there's never been anything specifically involving people just getting together that are enthusiasts of the same thing. I know there are car clubs that do this for example but not phone enthusiasts. So, I was thinking what about something for Android enthusiasts. This doesn't mean specifically Hero owners but any Android user's across the board. Call me a dork but it would be neat to meet some of the people I've talked to on these forums in person just to hang out for a while. Maybe there would even be a possibility of getting some industry interest from the big boys such as if Sprint, HTC, Google wanted to have reps there just to talk and answer questions.
It doesn't necessarily have to be a convention so to speak but an organized way of getting together to share your interests with other people like you do on here, but instead in person for a day. I unfortunately don't have the means to actually rent out a place to make this happen nor do I have the connections to get any major players interested but that doesn't matter. It could start small and get bigger if there's enough or any interest.
I definitely don't have all the answers on this nor know exactly how it could happen which is why I'm turning to you guys. Maybe there are some of you that would like the idea and then it would be a matter of figuring out where geographically it would happen and when. If anyone is truly interested I would be happy to discuss ideas further via email or phone just post on here first.
Can anyone help with album covers? I have one album that shows up with its cover in the default music player. I assume that is because it is included in one of the tags information, I added covers to other albums tag info using windows media player and the advanced tagging option (method found in other forum for other lg phone) but the covers still don't show up when I put the albums back on my phone. Does anyone know which tag the music player is reading? There is also a folder (albumthumbs) that showed up on my sd card once I copied the album thats artwork does work to my phone, and in it is a file without an extension (this is obviously the cover for the one working album). Can I add jpgs to that folder or something and how does the album thumb naming convention work?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am releasing two versions of an app--free and paid. The differences between the two are few, and I would like to release both using the same codebase (maybe a different constant defined for the other build?). Has anyone done this? Can someone point me in the right direction?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have this weird problem. When I add peoples phone numbers and sync with Face book sometimes I lose the phone number or they disappear all together I save my contacts via goggle, I'm not sure if any other way would make a difference. Also, I woke up this morning and my number has disappeared, maybe my phone is trying to tell me something.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I synced my phone's contacts with my face book contacts, I saw that some of the numbers had the +44 prefix. This didn't seem like a problem until I tried to dial a contact's number that was taken from Face book. When it dials it just plays a long beeping tone and won't connect to the contact. I can text the contact fine but not ring. Also, I can not change the number in my phone as it is from Face book. Does anyone have a way to solve this issue?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSorry I am a bit of a newbie on phones.I kept with my Motorola 1000 till I got a Desire. On this phone on the SIM card I could store several numbers for each contact/person.I swapped the SIM card into the Desire, and all the first number for each contact is there, but I can find no way to access the other numbers e.g. landline that I had against each contact/person.Does anyone know where I am going wrong?
View 8 Replies View RelatedAs above really. How can I add custom labels for people's numbers? Home, work, Home fax etc are not enough. I need to create my own. Is it possible? Thanks!

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust received my Desire and loving it. My only issue so far is that even though I've selected in the People app only to display Google contacts there seems to still be Facebook contacts appearing, albeit only the ones who have entered phone numbers into their Facebook profile. This causes duplicate entries for the same person in messaging apps (default and Handcent) and in the People app it seems to prefer to show the Facebook contact details rather than the Google ones.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI really dont know what is happening here, but I have lost (nothing has been deleted) most of my contacts (some have remained - dont know why) but I have tried everything to get them back - I have imported - exported - sim - phone - vcard, all variations, all I am getting is multiple duplications of the numbers that are left in the phone, but not getting back what I have lost... someone help before I go get a rope!!
View 5 Replies View RelatedToday I set up a group on my desire so that I can send a group text or email to the parents of the kids football team that I help to run. It seem that it uses the primary number that's selected in the persons contact info. Some parents have given me both their mobile numbers and sometimes two email addresses so I want to include them all in the same group. Does anyone know how I can do this? On my previous blackberry curve 8900 I could select multiple numbers/email addresses from the same contact to go into the group.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to limit the numbers shown by the Message app to just 'Mobile' numbers?
View 6 Replies View RelatedOnce a contact is synced with Facebook, their number on facebook becomes their primary number.
The problem is, if it begins with 44, I cannot call or text them and it is really beginning to piss me off. They can text and ring me fine.
I don't understand. In symbian it was possible to add more than one "mobile" number, and even with a custom label. In android i can't do that. I have friends that use 2 or 3 mobiles, for work, personal use etc, that besides the work number from the location.
Is there a workaround or a program i can use? I don't want my contacts staying on the gmail servers.
I guess the question is, how can i modify the labels? there's got to be a way...
If i use the "linked" option, when i view the contact details it just shows me 3 different numbers, it doesn't show me the linked contact's name so i can't now wich number i want to call: work, personal etc.
Custom labels would have been genius. I could add to Andy for example:
1. mobile xxx
2. mobile work xxx
3. boss xxx
And when he would call me from one of this numbers, it would have been nice to look like this:
Andy mobile xxx or Andy mobile work xxx.
I have moved from a long time Palm (not smartphone) and Nokia user. When I am in the dialer, I can't seem to get names when hit the keyboard. I just get numbers and if I hold long I get my speed dial. How can I get it to work like a real phone. - Hit 7 4 times and get to the S in the phone book. Also anyway to get last name, first name?
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhy my phone is not showing recently called numbers? Also the call history is totally blank. The contacts show but take an age to load?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am finding that some of my contacts are dissapearing or their contact numbers dissapear. I was texting the person and then all of a sudden their name wasnt showing and just the number.
View 6 Replies View RelatedFrom the home screen, if I press 'phone' and then the keypad icon in the bottom left some of the numbers have a chevron on either side of them. I thought that possibly it indicated that the person had more than one number but that is not the case.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've or rather my phone has lost the tones when dialling phone numbers
I've got it checked under Settings -> Sound & Display -> Audible touch tones (on or off) but they won't beep no matter how many times I swaer at them.
The only app I've installed at about the time they went walkabout was Batterylife, although I doubt it was connected and it's been binned but to no avail.
Some contacts have different phone numbers. And when I send group SMS, the message is sent to the first number of the contact. So is there a software that can reorganize the position of the phone numbers? So that the mobile numbers are the first in the list.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI added a contact on my PC (http://www.google.com/contacts) which then got sync'd to my phone. I pasted the phone number in from a website, which began something like this: "+44 (0)207..." When I dialed the number on the phone, a recorded message told me that voicemail settings had been changed, and to hang up and dial again in five minutes. Immediately, an SMS message arrived from ">pers", saying "Network message - please delete", followed by a load of random gibberish. Looking in the Call History, it appears that the phone ignores the brackets, and dials, "+44 0207..." which is incorrect. It ought to know that numbers in brackets after the country code are only used when dialling locally without the country code. Calling that incorrect number (I don't know if it's the specific number I called, or just that prefix) somehow connected to some aspect of the (T-mobile UK) voicemail system. I wonder what setting I've changed?Googling suggests that the SMS from ">pers" is some sort of phone-configuration message that is normally supposed to be intercepted by the phone. Anyway, bottom line is this - if you add contacts to your Google account on your PC (which is sometimes very convenient, and a great feature of the Google system), be careful to remove any unnecessary area prefixes.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an incredibly annoying problem with my People contacts, where if I link a contact's Facebook account to their profile on my phone, People also decides to add in their phone numbers! This means I end up with duplicate phone numbers to choose from (for example, when selecting a contact to send an SMS to) or numbers that have been incorrectly added to Facebook by the contact (made up numbers or incorrect international dialing codes). All I want is to link the Facebook account and NOT have the contact details automatically added. The only contacts I have set up to view in People are my Google contacts - 'Facebook for HTC Sense' is unticked.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've just got my Desire (loving it already!) and have copied over my contacts from my SIM to Google. On both my SIM view, and when copied over, however, only 1 number is showing per contact when for some of my contacts I have 2 numbers (e.g. home and mobile). These showed up as SIM contacts on my old phone (Nokia) and have definitely not been left behind so they must be on the SIM somewhere. Anyone know how to access these on the Desire and copy them over?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently a newbie in the andriod market, jumped over from N900 to this phone hoping it would be easy but doesn't look like.
I tried to sync my Outlook contacts to the new HTC Desire, using HTC sync, (running Android 2.2) and it copied over the contact but only with their primary numbers and not all the numbers, emails or addresses.
I haven't tried anything else yet but surely I won't be the only one with this teething issue, can some of you guys give me an updates on this?
Hope somebody can help with a couple of issues that are driving me mad with my HTC Desire
1. If I get a phone number sent via a text or email and it has a space in it, I cant select it to dial.
2. I get emails from people that use Infopath but not all the fields show up. I have searched the web for apps etc. but cannot find much help. Is this an Android issue? Any help would preserve my sanity.
I got my HTC Desire today, and despite spending many hours carefully updating my Google contacts, I've found that received calls and SMS messages are not displayed with the contact they're from. I believe this is because the details in my contacts list are in the format "01234 567789", whereas the incoming calls/messages are in the format "+441234 567789", and it's not realizing that the "+44" and "0" are interchangable. How can I resolve this, without going through all my contacts changing the prefix on the phone number?
