View 1 Repliesrooted my desire this morning and Facebook for htc desire came up with this message downloaded a diff rom same message so downloaded the o2 rom again and reinstalled that still same god damn message. created a new facebook account still GOD DAMN SAME MESSAGE!
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have the htc desire and for the past couple of days it hasn't had any signal, I just get the limited service message, this is regardless of where I am (I live in a large city as well!) I have tried both soft and hard resets, leaving it switched off for large periods of time but all to no avail. I know I should have signal since my old phone is on the same network (vodafone) and gets signal absolutely fine.

Warning - The service is currently unavailable. Do you want to try again?
Is this some kind of fault or is the service really unavailable at the moment?
I called and spoke with two different CSR on the phone today as well as one the guys at our local Verizon corporate store. I am still undecided about whether to pre-order tomorrow to save myself from dealing with the mail-in rebate or buying it in store on 4/29. The first CSR I spoke with told me I should receive the phone by FedEx on 4/29. I called later to ask another question about my ne2 and changing plans. I asked the second CSR the same "when will I get it if I pre-order" question and she says I will get it on Friday 4/30. I told her that every thing I have heard and read says it will be there by Thursday 4/29. She told me it was going to be shipped using FedEx 2-day service. I called my local store in Indiana to see if they have ever sold out of any phones when they debut. He says that most of the excitement over the Incredible is by "techies" like me and he expects plenty in stock. I had him check to see when I would get it if I pre-ordered online. He says that it would be shipped 2-day FedEx and I would receive it on Friday 4/30. I told him I would be in on 4/29 to get my phone because I do not want to take a chance on waiting an extra day. This is just a FYI for those expecting it on Thursday because it may take an extra day to get to you.
View 48 Replies View RelatedWhile having my phone activated at the local Verizon store a pop-up came on the screen. Of course the lady there said it's nothing to worry about. Well since then I noticed every time I turn the phone on and at random times I get a pop-up that says "Sorry! The process com.htc.bg has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". The only way I can close the pop-up is by pressing the "force close" button. I called HTC and they told me it's a warning for the background sync program and it's a bad phone. I called Verizon and they asked me to remove all the apps, perform a soft reset and try a factory data restore. Well after trying all things they are sending me a new phone. It's being overnighted tomorrow for Saturday morning delivery. And Verizon is actually paying for the overnight shipping which is a good thing considering it's not even a day old. The only thing that sucks is I'm gonna have to pay for another ZAGG screen protector to be installed. Hope this phone is better.
View 21 Replies View RelatedI installed the OTA update 2.2 when it was delivered to my unrooted phone. I want to go back to 2.1, but when I go to settings>SD & phone storage>Factory data reset it gives the warning that it will NOT erase: Current system software and bundled applications. Does this mean that the update 2.2 will still be on the phone, or does it goes back to 2.1?
View 7 Replies View RelatedThis is confirmed by Verizon, so take warning.I got my Incredible on Tues, used my BB charger on my phone because the Verizon store said it was ok since it was still a micro usb. My battery started dying after about a few hours. Tried every trick in the book and still died afte about 3 hrs.Went to the Verizon store and got it replace. They once again said it was ok to use the blackberry charger. So i let the new battery run down as the guy said and began to charge w/ my blackberry car charger for about 30 min. I noticed the orange charger light was not on. I unplugged the charger and the phone will not even turn on now. Verizon is overnighting me another Incredible.Listen to others if you want or take your chances, but the tech guy at Verizons main tech support center said to use only Htc chargers. **SO USE YOUR BB CHARGERS ON YOUR INCREDIBLE AT YOUR OWN RISK**
View 49 Replies View RelatedWhen nandroid does a back-up, it does not error out or warn if the card runs out of space. It will go through all of the back up steps and even produce an MD5 parity check, but it is checking the file created- NOT the actual targeted files as part of its verification process (only the parity of the final file created). I discovered this (almost) the hard way, but noticed that my card showed zero space. The back-up should have been about 850mb, but was 395mb. I removed some files from my sd card and repeated the process and then did a titanium back up of apps.
Shortly after backing up, I tried to install the King #2 kernel and my Inc got stuck in a boot loop. Had I not caught the Nandroid back-up issue, I would have been in a rough situation. The sad thing is I have a 32gb card, but is loaded with PSX games, other game roms and MP3's. Even without this stuff and a smaller card, several nandroid back-ups can accumulate and take up more space than you expect. added: I am not sure if Titanium also does not verify the targeted files after a back-up. In summary: Check you card for space before backing up stuff!
This thread won't be up long as mods always delete/lock my threads, but here is my experience with returning my Incredible and cancelling my order.
The CSR at Verizon, who was finally able to cancel my Inc replacement, mentioned something about my card being charged full retail when it goes back to the warehouse. I was like "WTF?". I ordered my original for $199.
She told me that when they are shipped back to the warehouse, they don't read the notes on your account and people are being charged the full retail price. She offered to monitor my account to ensure this does not happen.
Not sure about the whole dynamics of this, but its salt in the wound for me.
Just a heads up for anyone returning a defective Inc. that see a mysterious five hundred and some dollar charge from Verizon.
I just got my first Android phone a week ago (Evo) and am loving it. I like to be very customizable with my things, so I'm messing around with everything all of the time. I do have a question though, where do I go in order to make a call when using ADW Launcher? Also, if there are any sort of guides or tutorials around that explain the basics of it, that'd be great.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe want to migrate a huge complex native program to Android system ,running it as a background service accepting command sent from Java Program using JNI along with IPC. However, the Android NDK state following words:
Please note that the NDK does not enable you to develop native-only applications. Android's primary runtime remains the Dalvik virtual machine.
Does that mean we have no way to run an standalone native-only application on Android as a background service? The native code can only exist in the form of library that will be loaded to the virtual machine through JNI?
I installed CM 11 on my odin. I wanted to only install the Google Play Store but nothing else from the gapps packet. I pushed Phonesky.apk, GoogleLoginService.apk and GoogleServicesFramework.apk to the pref-apps system folder like in CM 10.2. After rebooting, there was no Play Store installed.
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know where I can find the old version of the google places directory standalone app? I don't like the new one integrated with maps. I can't figure out how to set a location other than my current location when searching places. I guess if someone can tell me how to search for places NEAR an address or point on the map that I choose, it will be ok. I still don't like the interface as well as the old one though.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to create a sqlite database by importing data from some data files, like csv etc., and then put this database into one of my android application and then deploy into the Android device.
By now the samples and tutorial what I found are all taliking about creating the sqlite database at runtime when running the android application on the device. Is there anyway I can create it offline and then attach it to my application later?
Any tools and docs for this?
The Solution is *bash ./build/tools/build-ndk-sysroot.sh --build-out= ~/android/bin/out/target/product/generic (path to <ANDROID_PRODUCT_OUT>**)*
The PATH for ANDROID_PRODUCT_OUT has to be set correctly..!
I was wondering if exist, or if it's possible to build, a special android release for old smartphones without basic phone functions, to be used just as standalone media player. I mean a basic distribution that allow just playing local audio files or remote files through wifi home network.
I have an old xperia x8, which is a good phone and there are a lot of android based custom roms, but i need to use it just as a media player. As soon as I power it on it has to show a list of music files to play.
I have developed android application. Now it is time to give it to the beta testers. Is there the standalone application witch will collect LogCat output? I do not want to force testers to install whole android development environment. I was thinking about application witch will collect logs through usb port and display them to the PC console (logging to the SD card is not convenient), so that tester could provide crash trace or some debugging info.

View 49 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to develop an external library (not sure if that's the right term) to provide prepackaged functionality in Android projects. Working in Eclipse, I've added the appropriate android.jar file to the build path, and everything is happy both while editing and upon compilation. However, when I use Android's Handler and Message classes (android.os.Handler, android.os.Message) for inter-thread communication, I get exceptions unless I'm running within an Android app, on the emulator or a device. I can no longer test my library in a "standalone" way without having to go through a running Android target. Is there any way for me to include these two Android classes and still be able to test my library standalone? Do I need to have the Android source available? Or would it require some sort of conditional compilation hand-waving?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI (like hundreds of others) have had a call quality problem with the two Droid Incredibles I purchased for my wife and myself when they were released on April 30th. Verizon recognized that there was a problem and replaced both devices with ones manufactured about a month later (5/02) and the same issue with poor voice quality continued.
We love the device EXCEPT for the lack of ability to understand callers. So, I asked Verizon to extend our 30-day opt out to give them an opportunity to work out the issues with this device. I just received a call from Verizon customer service (which I could barely understand) and was told they would not extend the 30 day period and my option was to live with the poor sound quality or switch to another device. Verizon has no other devices that were interested in at this time so well be canceling these two lines (and one other) and returning to T-Mobile. T-Mobile may not have the best coverage, but they do have great customer service, unlike Verizon.
I updated to Froyo this morning.I noticed I wasn't getting any data service on my phone so I ran the *228 thing. Phone rebooted and problem was solved.Sort off.I turned the phone off at lunch 'cuz I wanted to see the awesome boot animation. When the phone turned back on, there was no data service. I've now found that if I do the *228 thing it fixes the problem, but only until I reboot again. I've gone into the wireless and network settings and Mobile Network is checked and stuck at turning on. Do I need to do a factory reset to fix this? I've got a back up with My Backup Pro so it's not a huge deal if I do.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is where it gets weird. When I tried to call out from my DINC, it would start dialing, then simply stop and say "call ended". During this apparent outage, CityID (worst crapware ever!) reactivated itself after a month and a half of being done with my trial (got the DINC on 4/29). Even though my calls weren't going through, CityID was identifying the location of the numbers I was trying to call.
After a couple hours, service resumed, everything was fine and CityID stopped working again (thankfully). When I go to my call history, all the numbers that I tried to call during that time have the city and state information from CityID. All the numbers before and after do not? Weird! I thought after the two week trial it was supposed to go dormant? I hope it never reactivates again as it has never, not once, been correct regarding the location of the number calling.
Is it possible to send and receive text messages over wifi? My summer home has wifi but not cell service and I would love this feature. Even a pay app would work.
