Just got an HTC Desire and want to run a diving decompression tool on the device. DPlan - Palm PDA Decompression Program | Global Underwater Explorers Unfortunately it's only available for Palm OS. Is there any way I can use this program on my new Droid phone?

I've use Palm since the Palm Pilot 1000 a 128k PDA & various other since. My data is current in both Palm Desktop (5 Star PIM) and Treo 650. I am interesting in importing Contacts and Memo's into the Android 2.1 phone (HTC Desire) and the info spread among a dozen or so groups. I don't want to use the Cloud or Googles cloud tools. I hate Outlook as a PIM and don't believe it will handle the groups anyway. But more importantly I don't want my data in Outlook nor do I want its info or mail in my Android phone. With Palm as a PDA and Smartphone originator in this field I would have expected much better support to import data. BB Curves Desktop does it seamlessly since I tested that 2 years ago. Android phones don't even have a default memo app. Is someone asleep at the switch their?

I mistakenly added some shortcuts of some programs along with the default 4 shortcuts in the bottom of the my desktop skin. Now, I am not being able to remove any shortcut from the desktop. I know, it's very silly question but I will be very happy if anyone help me out.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just pre-ordered the EVO yesterday. Since this is at Radio Shack, I am assuming that they won't be able to transfer the contacts from me pre to the EVO. Is this correct? I decided to go ahead and fix all my contacts on gmail anyway just in case. This gives me something to do while waiting for my EVO.... Will the Evo import all my contacts when I log into my gmail account and set it as my main sync account? What I am doing is this:
1. I installed the 'contacts to email' patch using preware and exported all my contacts as a vcard file. This is probably a good idea anyway. I don't completely trust "cloud" storage.
2. I sent myself the email and then imported this vcard file into gmail contacts. This resulted in about 350 contacts in gmail. I'm now working through them doing edits and combining duplicates. Is this the best way to prepare my contacts for the EVO?
Have been using Palm for many years with multiple contacts, which transfered over with first name rather than last-any ideas? Multiple memos, and the transfer by sprint resulted in one big file. Getting used to the phone, if I could only use my multiple memos!

View 1 Replies View RelatedHere's my current setup which I'm assuming I may have to modify. Current Phone: Palm Centro I have an external email account and a Gmail account. My Gmail account is setup to check my other account via Gmail's POP3 system. I then use MS Outlook to check my Gmail account. All my data is in Outlook. Calendar, Contacts, and emails. I'm getting a new Android phone and need to get the same contacts and such onto there.
Technically, the same emails that are in Outlook are in Gmail so that's not a problem.
I also use Google's Calendar sync program so my outlook calendar is also in Gmail so I assume that wouldn't be a problem either. This leaves me with my contacts. Is there a preferred program that will sync my outlook contacts to Gmail like I do with my calendar? Or is there some other way that people have used that works just as well? I will continue to use Outlook as my primary contact/calendar management program but just want everything to sync across to the phone.
I have a Google number hooked up to my Palm Pre. What do I need to do to switch this to the Evo if anything?

View 8 Replies View RelatedRecently my HTC Desire got damaged but fortunately I had copied and pasted all the data from my HTC Desire to my laptop. I connected my Desire to my Laptop in 'Disk Drive' mode and copy/pasted all contents/folders.
Now my Desire replacement has not yet arrived. Is there anyway I can access my 'Text' messages that were stored on my Desire in my laptop.
Where will I find those text and do I need some external program to open/view them?

The main points that I like to enjoy is: Droid beat out the phone that beat the iPhone, and the Droid got further in the brackets than any other Android OS phone Some of the progress is due to hardware, some due to following (over the Nexus'), but a lot due to the v2.01 (and now 2.1) version of the Android OS. Also, this poll is open ALL weekend - it does not close until April 5th, so we have tons of time...but then again, so does the Palm Pre. Let's have at 'em!
I want to root my phone, I have been reading the how-to's and downloaded files. But first I need to back up my apps and programming. What program can I use the will backup the entire phone? (Note: I have my htc Incredible programmed to work on Alltel, so I want it to backup the programming too). I am good with computers, but just need a push in the right direction so if I mess up I can get my programming back and programs I bought. Without have to reset it up and re download.

It seems most of the useful information I find on this topic through google is outdated (motz) or simply does not account for the complexity of my program. I have been able to run simple C programs but fail when attempting to use libraries outside of Android's Bionic/libc.So my questions are:
Is it possible to port pre-existing *.so libraries onto Android? If so, how could I do this without seg faulting?

What would be the best for yahoo & hotmail? I'd like to have it push the emails instantly, but I'm okay with it being like a 5-10 minute delay. I noticed that when I set my yahoo address up on their given email program, it doesn't always show the HTML pictures in the message so I don't always get the email the way I'd like it to. Some come up, others don't, its weird.
So I was just wondering what the best email program would be to use to get what I want?
I manually installed a PIM Restore program and now I can't uninstall it as I moved the PBM file over to my SD card and ran it so it's not showing up in the play store.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have gotten tired of waiting for palm to get with the program and create a new 3g phone for at&t got lured into hero and like it but am having trouble transitioning. I have done the sync with google and have all my memos under contacts and my contacts are a mess. I know if i put in the time and clean it up. It will be helpful howerver, i'm missing epocrates, my todo list, the accessibility to enter txt into the calendar without going thru so many steps. so many things about palm that were intuitive and easy are not so easy and require so many more steps on the hero. The same problem i had with iphone. My question: any one else found an easy way to transition between palm and hero? Any tips or advice on how to make things easier apps for to do lists that have similar notifications as they were on palm. Anything to have the best of both worlds?
