Android :: Get Online Data And Store It In Droid?
Sep 30, 2010I'm getting hung up on how to handle the data for an app I'm designing. I want to pull a list of items from the net. The data is updated routinely, and I think it would be good to store all the data on the device so the app can load quickly and refresh the data in a background thread rather than have to wait for the network on every start-up.
I think I should make the data available in an XML and have a thread parse and save into a SQLite DB, but I'm not sure if that's the "best practice." Are there other ways that people go about handling this?
HTC Incredible : Convincing Vzw Online Sales - Store To Extend Expiration Date Of Credit?
Apr 20, 2010I received a letter from Verizon a month ago offering me an extra $50 credit for my NE2 upgrade to make a total of $150 - the catch was the offer expired April 15. Right then I knew the Incredible would be released after 4/15!
My question is - is there any hope of convincing vzw online sales or a store to extend the expiration date of the credit? I asked one online sales person and they said "no we can't do that for an online sale, but call a store, and they might be able to". So I called a store and they said "no when it comes in we won't be able to do that, but maybe online sales can". So is this a futile attempt? Should I wait until they are in stores on 4/29 and go in and talk to a manager? Or give up and pre-order now?
Motorola Droid X :: Corporate Store Price Vs VZW Online Price?
Jul 20, 2010I've been researching phones for my first smart phone for about 6 months.I've almost decided on the Droid X.I think I will buy it at the one year price.On line, the one year contract price is $269.99.I stopped in at my local corp. store just a few minutes ago and their price for a one year contract on a Droid X was $319.99, $50.00 more.This was just the phone, no accessories added. They told me that the $269.99 was a special on line price and I told them it was a system-wide price.Who's right and is this normal and I just didn't know it or are they trying to rip off an old man?

Nov 30, 2010I would like to know if there is going to be an opportunity to have a(n) Android app/Store on line (yes just like A**le-*tunes)?
Appbrain is AWESOME. If you noticed, I know you did, that FastWebInstaller comes up w/ a note via the phone that it is not-operational b/c google updated the market w/o FWI able to preform.
That makes me believe that perhaps google is setting up this whole online experience. It seems like AppBrain is "hooked" up w/ Google (cause you use ur google sign in).
Obviously I dont have the skinny on inside info. I KNOW some of yous do.
Shed some sunshine NOT light on this query I have.

Nov 14, 2010Where can i get some good hard cases or Leather covers for the HTC Desire HD?I found some Leather covers for the Desire HD on ebay but the want $60 to $70 for one + Postage.And i don't want a soft Gel cover i like the hard cases.

Dec 21, 2009I'm just wondering what types of accessories Droid users have bought. I have the Multimedia docking and the car dock both from Motorola. I bought them on the VZW website and got both for around $22 bucks each. I've been happy with both even though I haven't been driving much. Has anyone seen a car dock that doesn't block the camera? Mine does. I wanted to launch Qik or Ustream Broadcaster while I drive around. Just thought it would make for some cool video.

Jun 20, 2009I have a question for those in the know. I am interested in purchasing an android-capable phone in the near future..I really like what it offers. My brother has a G1 (Mobile USA), which has piqued my interest in the Android platform. My question is: Is the app store synced with every kind of Android-capable phone, or just that specific phone? If I was to buy a HTC Magic, would it use the same app store as the G1? AFAIK, some other major platforms, such as Symbian do not sync, and it's 'every phone for itself', but I was thinking that Android was more synergic.
