Aug 30, 2010After three years of iPhones, I'm all set with that ecosystem and I want to move on the Android. I followed the Rachel UI since it was demoed last fall and have had an interest every since. Now that the phone is finally in the US I have a couple of questions:
1. Why is AT&T's No Commitment Pricing $349.99 while Sony Style's is $499.99? Neither price involves a new contract or extension.
2. I've read something about Android devices on AT&T being limited in terms of apps. Does that mean I can only install apps from the Marketplace? If that's the case, is it that big of a deal? I've never felt the need to jailbreak my iPhone, for what that's worth.
3. Other there any other downsides to getting the AT&T phone over a import/unlocked model?
4. Anything else an iOS convert should know?
I've poked around on these (and other) forums but couldn't really find black and white answers to my questions.

Nov 18, 2010I got my 2.1 update this week in Belgium. As i was synchro'ing my facebook contacts in my phonebook, i noticed that my phone doesn't sync all my contacts with facebook. Wen i tried to do this manually per contact, some fb persons do not appear in my "choose contact" list however the contact has the same name in my phone as on facebook ? It appears that the sync is random in choosing the contacts and some contacts'fb profile don't appear if u do the sync manually ? Anyone with the same problem? Example: a friends name is Bianca in my phone, on her facebook profile the same name followed by familyname, but my phone doesn't find her profile when i search manually.

Nov 25, 2010Did two different bacups, and I am positive that I did backup of contacts. Also did a bacup of all contacts on my online account at sonyericsson.com Did an upgrade of android 1.6 -> 2.1. I ran restore. Everythinge else is restored, just not one single Name or Number. No contacts. Tried both bacups several times, I get a confirmation that the restore is done. Still nothing. Hooked it up to my PC, and performed a sync with my page on sonyericsson.com. Nothing. I am at a loss. It's always a small disaster to loose all numbers and names. I still have them all, I just can't get my phone to give a ****, it seems. ( Also tried installing the new Backup & Restore (1. Nov), m.sonyericsson.com/backup, but it gives me the message "not installed" every time i try. Nothing more. I think maybe it's because I might allready have that program on my phone).

HTC Desire :: Gmail Contacts Wont Import / Sync To Phone?
Nov 4, 2010edit: This has now sorted itself out. Dont know why it didnt work when it said it was syncing before. maybe it didnt like the number of contacts involved and only wanted to do it on its own 3 hours after i asked. I am unable to get all my gmail contacts onto my desire. I have a gmail account setup on the phone, syncing is set to automatic and the gmail account has all options ticked for syncing. Even after i run a manual sync it does not retrieve all my gmail contacts (people is completely empty, and 'view' is set to only show gmail contacts)I know its possible because i had them on there before. I removed them from the phone as there were lots of duplicates after merging with my phones contacts. These duplicates all got sent up to gmail and so i removed everything from the phone in order to tidy it all up on gmail with the intention of then re-importing them from gmail. But it will not get anythying from gmail now.

I hear you saying, well in the UK nation code are usually 4 digits (sometimes 5). This makes reading the numbers really ANNOYING. Any know how to get rid of them - without having to go through every number?

Aug 10, 2010Yesterday (08/08/10) my X10 said there was a new update available and to download correctly I needed to connect it to a computer update through PC Companion 2.0. I did this and followed all the on screen instructions correctly. I got to the final stage and it asked me to disconnect the phone switch it off remove the battery, reinsert and then turn it back on again. The instructions said it may take awhile for the phone to come back on again because the phone will be updating. So far my phone has not come back on again after 24 hours of waiting, all that happens is the sony ericsson logo is displayed for about 10 seconds and then the phone turns off then the same process is repeated. Any ideas whats happened or what I can do to fix this or will it be a job for Sony? I have emailed them but of course they were absolutly no help what so ever.

Jul 29, 2010So I did some modding (unfortunately) to the framework-res.apk file and it worked the first time and a few other times but then I changed something and now when I turn on the phone it freezes at the "Sony Ericsson" screen before the logo. What do I do?
I tried pushing the backup framework file but it says "failed to copy framework-res.apk to /sdcard/framework-res.apk: Permission denied
However, when I use adb devices, it does show my device as being attached.
So what can I do now?
I was also able to pull files...
Also tried manually putting the framework-res.apk in the sdcard and then using adb to copy it to the framework folder. Doesnt work. Saids that the directory cannot be open for read. I guess the device cant read the SD card until it boots up.

Dec 2, 2010I'd like to use my X10 to keep all of my contacts' postal addresses in instead of the tatty old address book I carry in my handbag(!) I didn't fancy typing them all into the phone, so thought I would use the Sony Ericsson sync and put them into the pc first via the PC Companion sync application, and set up the sync to transfer them into my phone. I have tried a test run adding only a couple of addresses to my contacts on the pc, and adding one to my phone, but when I do a sync, the addresses don't transfer either way. I know that the actual sync is working because I added photos too and they transfer....... I must be doing something wrong that is easily rectified?
