I use the HTC agenda on my Desire (2.2) and some birthdays of my facebook friend are synchronized, but more than half isn't. I tried hitting the sync button a few times, but it didn't work.

I have a Facebook account with a bunch contacts, but I rarely log onto Facebook, whether by computer or phone. That said, Facebook is the only place that consolidates all of the birthdays that I would otherwise not know. I know Facebook has an app that allows you to get birthday reminders within Facebook. But, is there a way to get the same reminder short of having to log on and browse my home page?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've seen quite a few people wondering how to get the birthday's from their contacts (either google, facebook or both) into their calendars. Here is how to do it.
First, Facebook limits the way you can view their data (phone numbers, birthday's, etc.). They will allow you to view it, but not to scrape the data to transfer to another app (which is why there is no way to sync your google and facebook addressbooks). I remember a while back somebody wrote a facebook app that would sync with Plaxo and facebook shut down the users account within a day of him starting to use the program. Because of this limitation, you will need to add 2 calendars to get all your birthdays and if you have a birthday in both facebook and google, that birthday will appear twice. That being said, here is what you can do.
To add Birthdays from Google contacts to your Google Calendar.
1. Using a computer go to calendar.google.com
2. Top Right corner, click on settings/calendar settings.
3. Under Calendar settings click Calendars
4. By Other Calendars, click Browse Interesting Calendars
5. Under Interesting Calendars, select More
6. Subscribe to the Contacts' Birthdays and Events calendar.
7. Return to Calendar, your Contacts' Birthdays should now be appearing.
8. On your phone open the calendar app and go to menu/more/refresh
9. Go to menu/more/calendars and make sure the new CBE calendar is checked.
10. Back to Calendar. The birthdays should now be showing.
11. If they do not appear, try menu/refresh.
12. If they still do not appear go to menu/more/calendars/remove and remove the CBE calendar then menu/more/calendars/add and readd the CBE calendar (this is what I had to do).
*Google does not currently have a way to add reminders to this calendar. You can add a reminder to any individual birthday, one at a time, from your phone, but the reminders will not sync back to the web version of Gcal and will only work on the phone.
To add Birthdays from Facebook to your Google Calendar
1. Go to fbCal.com - Facebook Calendar Generator, and click Get your calendars now
2. In facebook click Allow/Allow/Allow
3. Under "Subscribe to Friends Birthdays" click the Google Calendar icon
4. In Google Calendar, Select Yes add this Calendar
5. In Google Calendar go to Settings/Calendars, double click the calendar with the really long complicated name, and rename to fbCal or something else you will remember, Save. Facebook birthdays should now be showing in Gcal.
6. In your phone calendar, menu/more/refresh
7. Menu/more/calendars/ and put a checkmark next to the fbCal calendar.
8. Menu/more/refresh
9. Everything should be working now.
*If you go back to the fbCal page in facebook, you can follow the same process to create a calendar for Facebook events. You CAN create regular Google notifications for both facebook calendars.
Is there no Facebook Sync in Jagar? Do I have to load sense to get that to work?

Having now ported all my numbers in how can i sync facebook with certain people (my gilfriend and close m8s etc etc) but avoiding doubling up their numbers and e-mails and so on that's already on the phone. All i really need is their pic and status updatesreally

View 4 Replies View RelatedHave had a look through other threads, but with no result.I have synced all of my contacts with their relevant Facebook Profiles.Unfortunately, syncing has brought all of their details across - including 'phone numbers' such as 'ask me' etc etc.I've fumbled around the "Edit Contact" screen for quite a while trying to work out how to remove these details from here, but to no avail. It seems I can only edit the details I've entered in myself, and not the details that have been synced from Facebook.I'm aware I can simply remove the link / sync, but I quite like having the contact pictures in there.Anyone know how to remove these 'extra' details but leave it synced?

I only want to sync contacts manually to their facebook account and not some random people (who I only added for networking) to appear in my phone contact list.
Any idea why this happens and how I can delete them from that specific list?
downloaded htc sync accepted my serial attached desire to pc - and selected htc sync launched pc programme.i clicked sync and it doesn't seem to have done anything at all i wanna back up all my contacts, music, photos etc but it doesn't seem to have worked also.i thought the desire sent your contacts to gmail to keep them backed up remotely doesn't seem to work either new user so go steady.

I'm signed into FB on my Desire using Friendstream, not the FB program.Every time the phone does an automatic sync, or I do it manually, the FB contacts are unselected from view and I have to add them again.
View 4 Replies View RelatedALright, so I just went from the original samsung galaxy to the htc desire and one of the first things I tried was to sync contacts with facebook. I only want existing contacts to be synced so I chose not to use the facebook for htc sense app as it will sync all facebook users and add them to my contact list (correct me if I'm wrong). So I tried to sync with facebook for android but nothing happens when I chose the account. I get prompted to sign into the app, which I do, I get into the app like normal, but no contacts are synced. Returning to the accounts settings page I cant even select the facebook. It is there to add but when I hit it nothing happens. I did sync with the official twitter app with no problem which I noticed with the samsung galaxy (running froyo) should be the same procedure. Kinda strange issue if you ask me... anyone else encountering this problem?

Their contact picture has been replaced by another blurry pixellated picture.
Further to this, I notice that the actual contact picture in Facebook for HTC Sense is borked and pixellated. Anyone seen anything like this before?
I Bought my HTC Desire two week ago. Loving it. A question though. Under each contact, if you enter the person's birthday, does the phone alert you with an alarm when the person's birthday is here? Is there any settings I need to do? Or does it sync with the google calendar?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I go into People -> My Contact Card, my birthday is showing with the little facebook "F" there. I don't want my birthday showing (in fact I don't want anything from facebook integrating with any part of my phone).
Under Settings -> Accounts and Sync, I have facebook set to not sync.
When on My Contact Card, I click Menu -> Edit, and beside Birthday it says "Click to add". When I click the cross beside that, that entry disappears, but when I click Save, the Birthday is still present.
i am trying to play around with the email and autosync features. if i were to turn off auto-sync, would the mail (not google mail) application still sync at the frequency that i set since the mail application is not under the sync list where the weather, news, facebook sync settings are?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having difficulties with ensuring I get a reminder alert for when each of my contacts birthday is due. This seems a remarkable omission for a phone. All my previous phones have just performed this function without needing any setting up, assuming the birthday is set in the contact. I have so far learned that you need to ensure you have changed the settings in Google Calendar online: Settings -> Calendar Settings -> Calendars tab -> Browse Interesting Calendars -> More tab -> Subscribe to Contacts' Birthdays and Events.I have done this, and now the birthdays appear in the Calendar application on the phone. Can someone please enlighten me on how I can ensure an alert is generated for these birthday reminders in the calendar?

After wasting a lot of time I generated an account at Sony webpage and managed all my accounts including "birthday" but now I found out that the
phone is not creating a corresponding calendar entry and therefore my phone is not reminding me for any birthday.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy 'accounts & sync' settings have always had 'facebook' turned off for syncing, and I have never turned it on. Yet this morning i was playing around with the bit in 'people' to try and see if the facebook bit in there worked and i would be able to link a contact in there with their facebook account. It asked me to log into facebook (after which incidentally it could not then find the contact in facebook lol). After that i went to the calendar and it now shows ALL 2500 facebook contacts birthdays!!
Please tell me there is a way to undo this. at no point did i ever select auto facebook syncing, or choose to import facebook calendar. Obviously now the calendar is pretty unusable as there are multiple bithdays on every day.
I've had an HTC Desire on Orange in the UK for about 6 weeks and it is having persistent problem. Firstly despite having a strong 4-bar out of 4 signal, online services and the internet do not work at all when a 3G signal is being received (e.g. news, weather, all widgets, internet, email etc).Calls and texts do work however with a 3G signal.But when a 3g+ signal (HSDPA) is being received, all internet services as above work fine.However, when a 3+ signal is being received, the phone does not make or receive calls or text messages, and often fails to send texts. Calls I make immediately shut down (bleep + �call ended�), and incoming calls from other people go straight to answerphone. Also often when turning the data connection on/off, it freezes and has to be rebooted, and turning airplane setting on and off does not fix the problem.
I have also tried the different network settings (GSM, WCDMA, auto, etc). �GSM� sends and receives calls and texts but doesn�t work (or is incredibly slow) with internet, and �auto� and �WCDMA only� show the problems as above.I don't think this is a network/coverage issues as, as I have seen many people reporting these same issues on other networks and in other parts of the UK, and I have read that other people are having to manually turn off HSDPA to be able to make calls (using an app?). Even if I can stop HSDPA from connecting to make sure the phone works, I still can�t use the internet at all on 3g � even GSM works better!
Finally, when I connect to a bluetooth device (e.g. car and headphones) the phone will connect briefly, and then randomly disconnect. I have also seen this issue reported elsewhere.I very much like the phone and don't want to get rid of it, but these problems are making the phone unuseable.Also I don't know if I should be contacting HTC or Orange about this. Will the upcoming Android 2.2 fix these problems?Anyone know how to fix this or if I need a new handset? Are there any apps that can help? Also does the Nexus One have these problems and are they fixed by Froyo?

I also cant download from the Market, the download appears to start & says 'Starting download' but never progresses, i assume this could be to do with the sync not working.
