Probably me being picky but I've noticed when scrolling through menus or web pages the images are blurry until you take your finger off or the image has stopped moving in which the image re-adjusts it's self.
My Hero never had this issue, much more smoother looking when scrolling. I just wanted to check that others where experiencing this and that it was the norm or not?

I've got the below screen that contains some images (6 per visible page). Scrolling up and down seems quite laggy to me. It's like it's rendering the images again. Scrolling back up seems worse than scrolling down.
Anyone know how to increase performance in such an area to create a nice smooth scroll?
Update: The images and text is all retrieved from my SQLite database. The list is created using SimpleCursorAdapter.

I have a list of 70 text items with image icons(which are stored in drawables folder).
If I launch application the first time and scroll the list slowly - the exception doesn't occur.
When the application is launched the first time and I scroll the list with 'fling' action the following exception occurs:

After that, if I kill the application with DDMS, start it again and scroll it with 'fling' action, exception doesn't occur. So the exception arises only if application is installed and launched the first time.
Here is the adapter I use for the list:

Is there a way to avoid the exception? Should I catch the exception and escape the memory somehow?
I can't seem to get the BlurMaskFilter to work the way I want. When I set a BlurMaskFilter as part of my Paint object and then draw a bitmap only the edges of the bitmap are blurred. Is there some secret way of blurring the entire bitmap? I noticed there's not really any sample code in the demo app or anywhere else on the web that I can find and the java docs for this class are sparse to say the least.

Is there any way to streamline web page downloads other than to not download images? View 2 Replies View RelatedHowever my phone will connect to my wifi at home no problems, it automatically switches when it's in range, but after about 20-30 minutes it stops working (pages won't load etc or get an error message saying I need to be connected) and when I go into wifi in settings it says 'authenticating' instead of connected. It doesn't change back if left you have to turn it off and back on and then it works fine for 20-30 minutes and back to the same problem again. I have never had a problem with the internet connection and there is no interuption to it or anything.

Even though it shows full signal I lose calls halfway through people try calling me only to get my answer phone but phone is next to me showing full signal. If I try and use the internet it won't upload pages unless I put wi-fi on. It's not where I live as husband on same network and his phone is fine. What should do.

I am however, having problems with the bookmark display in that it is not displaying the web pages in the widget as it should be, it just comes up with the name and a standard image. I have tried just going into the page but it doesn't work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedProblem is, any page on the BBC News website containing a Flash movie crashes the stock browser . So, while this and this are OK. This, this and even the mobile help page crash the browser (links included for you to try ). No force close, the browser just vanishes and I get returns me to the phone home screen.
I've cleared the cache and cookies and even restarted the phone to no avail (and no, I'm not doing a hard reset ).
iPlayer pages are OK as is YouTube.
Is this a BBC problem? Is anyone else having the same issue or is it just me?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI own HTC Desire (Bravo). I rooted my phone year ago or so, tried different ROMs etc. I dont remember when exactly, but my Google play store is loading pages really slow. I am not in US, I doubt its carrier based issue..
Currently I'm using CM..I think its 8 or 9, not sure of the version because recently my ROM manager app stopped working. (Will try to reinstall it when I get calm enough to open Google Play Store again )
On the startup it says CM 7 (mod) but I think it does so for all versions. I flashed CM using clockwork mod.
To solve issue I've tried clearing cash/data but it didn't work . Btw I use wi-fi mostly, but issue is the same whether I use mine or some other wi-fi.
When I am scrolling contacts in Handcent the slider button on the right is easier and larger than in the normal contacts list. Any way to make Contacts the same?

However, wandering around here and asking a lot of stupid questions and getting most answered with a great deal of patience has led me to wonder: 1) Can you get scrolling calendars other than the Sense one, without rooting? (I can't find any - I like the CalWidget big one, but it wont scroll). 2) Can you do anything to the main appearance other than change the background, without rooting? I've seen talk about the app 'OpenHome' - but on the market it's marked with low stars as buggy. 3) On 2 - can you remove the names from below the icons? Change the icons (e.g. with a theme) - without putting things into folders? 4) Can you remove options without rooting? E.g. my photo sharing (I've returned to the basic app, as gallery had a few bugs, e.g. with the camera) has 12 options to share (I had more, but I uninstalled different twitter apps and got rid of a few - I still have two facebook shares, peep and tridroid etc), which means scrolling through to find. On the gallery app, which had no scroll for sharing options, some were pushed off the screen. Is there a way to limit it just to the ones I'd use?

I hold the phone in my right hand and tend to use my right thumb for scrolling, selecting on the screen and pushing the buttons at the bottom. I have developed a persistent stabbing pain over the nobly bit on the right side of my wrist which gets worse after I have been using the phone for a while. So far, I love the setup, features and feel, the only thing I'm a little worried about is a little bit of lag.
I know the phone is renown for its processor speed and RAM, but scrolling through things like my SMS threads, the application list, and Friend Stream it is a bit 'jittery' and a little laggy. Every now and then an application like Facebook or the SMS application will crash on me. And I know I'm a rather fast texter, but when I'm texting sometimes the phone cannot quite keep up with what I'm writing.
I have no unusual applications installed and do not use task killers.
Is this normal? Or might there be some reason why its functioning a little slower than it should.
(HTC Desire running Froyo, not been rooted/molested).I have the stock email app set up to send/receive email through my BT email account.This all works fine with one exception.If I am sent an email which contains an image, I just receive the text no image at all (not even any sign that an image should be there). If the image is sent as an attachment then it is fine, it is only a problem when the image is in the body of the email.I have checked through settings and have set mail size limit to 'No Limit'.Can't see any other relevant settings.I found an old thread about this when I searched and it suggested that this was a known issue and may be corrected in 2.2. However, I am running 2.2 already.This is especially annoying as my cousin has been sending emails containing photos from her iphone and finds it quite amusing that my HTC cannot even display them

The only problem I can't workout or find a solution from searching the threads is how to copy pictures/images from the web (on my desire) to use as, say, a wallpaper.
For instance I have pics on Picasa web albums, which I want on my phone.
How can I move my images onto my SD card as I am running out of space. It looks like it's not possible in which case what's the point of adding a card in the first place.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm not really feeling the love for the quality of the images the Desire produces, mainly due to blue cast each image seems to have. If i want to keep an image i find I have to colour correct it with Photoshop which i hope you can appreciate is kind of annoying! Also, and this doesn't happen all the time but the screen sometimes splits in two/three when taking a photo which again is bloody annoying. Is this a known issue is there a software fix or do i have a duff unit and need to speak to HTC to repair under warranty.

Well when I set up the widgets I see that it will have a certain image next to it for example with 'mobile widget' there is a blue planet type image, which I have seen other people have on screenshots via thread on here. However when I actually have the widget on screen its just boring black with 2 arrow pointing opposite ways. Anybody know why or how to change it?

Is there a setting to make it more clear, also my contacts list the pics down the side are blurry to. I am sure it was clearer on my other htc I had. Also when I scroll up and down on the main screen the icons seem to very slightly flicker

I am really struggling with linking menus together. The app I want to create is a collection of menus that leads to url links to various sites I plan to open within the application. I have created a list activity menu with 8 options and I have eight classes with further options. My problem is how to link the menus together. I ask the question and someone said that I should map. I'm using the stock browser on my Desire, and I'm starting to notice that not all inches are appearing. Mostly this is when browsing forums and the smilies just appear as blue diamonds with question marks inside. Does anyone know why this might be?

Also if i find that the image does not fit the screen, is there a way of getting round this?
Why aren't menus inflated automatically for you in Android, the way an Activity's layout is?
