I was looking on web in the last few days and all of the online stores had no stock of this phone currently. I heard new stock is coming in this week and does anyone know which online shops have this in stock NOW and ships outside of UK?

When I am at home and want to connect to the net using wifi, my Desire connects to the network immediately and has excellent reception. But it can't go online with ANY of my programs, whether to check mail, download updates on the market or just surf. None of the other devices I use at home have any trouble getting online, so it isn't my router or connection (I think). And when I got to my office today, my phone instantly recognized the network here and can go online with no problems. I have had the phone for about two months now, and this problem is only a few days old. Before that I had no issues with this.

I like my F1 and if I'm out & about I'd like to watch the various live sessions over the weekend via the BBC website.
Can anyone with a Desire confirm whether the live streams for practice, Quali and the race work please? It uses flash so I'm hopeful.
Does it have a google video chat? Can you use skype? Is there a history file like a computer? Can you watch streaming movies online?
View 28 Replies View RelatedThe EVO is in such high demand and low supply that thieves are walking out with fully-functioning display models during business hours!Yesterday, I went to my local Sprint store to purchase accessories for my EVO when I noticed that the two display models were missing. The CSR told me that a guy had snipped the cables during peak hours when the store was very busy and walked out with both phones.That same day, I went to another Sprint store and one of the display units was missing as well. Again, the Rep said it was due to a recent theft. In both locations, the EVO was the only phone stolen.Apparently the thieves are still at large. I am surprised that Sprint isn't able to locate the phones using GPS or even their own "Family locater" technology.What also perplexes me is what the thieves plan to do with these phones once they steal them. The service will eventually be deactivated. And if they try and sell them, wont they be discovered as stolen when they attempt to reactivate? I guess by then, the thieves have taken the money and run.Anyway, the EVO is such a hot and scarce commodity, that people are resorting to desperate measures!Has anyone else seen this happening in their local stores or do I just live in a high crime area?

Freakin' sweet. I have to run to a b'day party, but it is beyond amazing. Not too heavy, fits in your pant pockets very well. Meow!

I have spent ages trying to find an app that lets me upload selected web pages in advance, so that I can read them at my leisure without needing an Internet connection. This is mainly because I spend a lot of time using my phone on the underground when commuting to work, but would also be useful when I am flying. I can't seem to find such a thing, is anyone aware of a such a thing. Ideally I want one which knows my page preferences in advance and synchronizes without the need for manual input. There used to be a website called avantgo which did this (in a more cursory form) for pdas, but they disappeared a few years ago and I haven't tracked down an android equivalent.

For example, if I'm dying for a cup of coffee and search for Starbucks, it would map out the nearest starbucks stores and I could pick one and maybe head for it with navigation. I have been using Maps but think it's too nonspecific -- if I type Starbucks it will list all stores in the country; if I type in the nearest city it will give me a list of stores but not do it visually on a map. Apologies if this is too basic a question. Today I was driving around in a county not too close to home, and needed a party supply store, but couldn't find one using my phone. I searched "party store" after mapping my location, and it came up with a list of motels/Comfort Inns about 20 miles away.

They just keep saying that there's no cloud based backup system so I can't back it up.... The files are stored on my device SOMEWHERE so there has to be a way to back them up. It kills me to think that I could lose all the notes I took through the 10+ books I've bought.

The dialog works perfectly, however I want to store the user's choice so that when the app is opened a second time, it checks to see if the user has already made a selection previously. If they have, it doesn't display the dialog and defines the city variable as their previously chosen preference. And obviously, if they haven't made a selection previously (because its their first time opening the app or for some reason the app couldn't read the stored preference), it displays the dialog.

If anyone is interested, I will provide more info on how to install the patch and where to d/l it from.My desire is rooted but S-ON and odexed. It only works on rooted phones.I love this feature that only comes on DHD & DZ as part of the new sense 2.0 ui as standard.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I starting calling the corporate sprint stores in my area and I noticed they were all asking if I was an existing (EC) or new customer (NC) before telling me if evo's were available. Turns out they are lying about their evo stock to EC. They will sell you one only if you're a NC. So I called a store, and told them I was a tmobile customer. "We have 5 in stock so if you come in the next 30 minutes you can get one". Then, I told them I wanted to buy the phone outright, full retail, no line activation sprint rep told me they don't have phones in stock for me.
Immediately I called sprint customer service; they called the store. (10 min after original call). Store now says none are available, and there is a waitlist. I'm not the only one. Sprint HTC EVO 4G supplies running low, but could be higher than we think - Android and Me

Around Sunnyvale, Ca 5 of 6 stores I called asked if i was an existing customer before answering if they had it in stock. 6 store said none. 2 of 2 stores, told me they had stock, then changed tune when they found out i was an existing customer. I should have just gone to the store, waited for them to present the phone. then reveal I'm an existing customer. If they try to pull it back, then call sprint customer service.
I am using ZipInputStream and BufferedOutputStream to decompress a file from a zip archive in Android 1.6. The code runs without exceptions, but when I check the existance of the file, I can't find it. I am just looking for the filename. Is there an application directory that stores this file? Do I need to specify a directory?

The app I'd like to build aims at giving contact information of a person using a search engine. This is the basic feature.
To make it more appealing, I'd like to add those enhancement features:
(1) allowing making a phoning call to the contact (when pressing a button for ex.)
(2) allowing the user to store contact information that would be available off-line
I need to have it work for i phone, Android and Blackberry. The application should also provide the basic feature (with not necessarily the enhancement features) for the maximum phone devices. I'm a beginner in i phone, Android and Blackberry. What would be the more efficient way to code the app ? For example, is it possible to make a common web application for all the mobile devices to provide the basic feature (display contact info using the search engine) and only code the specific features using each specific language without re writing the common code ? How would it possible to achieve it? I would prefer not to use a 3rd application tool such as edgelib, xmlvm or phone Gap that generates code for you.
I'm sure this has been asked many times but for anyone using the stock messaging app is there a way to get rid of all the unwanted contacts it brings up from Facebook? It seems anyone who I have as a friend on there is showing up in my contacts list, sometimes several times.It makes selecting a contact to send a text to a right mission. I was happy enough with Handcent until today but due to MMS problems I thought I'd give the stock app a go.

Fixed the card details and then was told that the desire is out of stock and they are hoping to get some in on Wednesday 31st March.

Can I use the one click method through steps 1 - 3 and then just reboot my phone to leave the stock rom ok there? And will I lose everything? I have my back up pro that can help with the back up, can I just restore that after? And will it back up my home screens too? I don't want to go through that process of setting them up again.

I've uploaded a pre-rooted version of HTC's latest ROM. This is basically stock with root, except I've disabled the annoying boot sound.It includes radio 5.09.05.30_2.To install you must be rooted with custom recovery. A full wipe shouldn't be necessary if you're currently on an official rom, since this isn't modified from stock. Do a nandroid backup before you install.There's no changelog from 2.09.405.8, but I've noticed my GPS problems went away.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI posted a while ago about handcent (great sms program) and my thoughts on it clashing with the mail scheduling peak/offpeak, after installing 2.2 on and using only STOCK apps all has been well.But I installed latest handcent again 6 days ago and the stock mail app connecting to my exchange 2003 email server has stopped working for scheduled and peak times.I have uninstalled 2 days ago and i still have to manually start and stop the manual/push every morning and night. the only way i can see this fixing is doing a factory reset (which i am sick of doing)handcent have not commented about this and I am baffled as to why handcent would /could affect this process.

I did not use it and put a larger one in. The original I formatted for my girlfriends phone. However I have since learned that there is a file structure on the SD card that is needed for certain tasks. So is there anywhere I can download these files?
