HTC Desire :: Phone Running Low On Memory / What To Do?
Sep 12, 2010My phone storage on my HTC Desire seems to be permanently full up, I know there's things like the Internet cache and contacts that are growing all the time but I should still have enough room for other stuff. I've installed and moved all apps to my sd card, I only have 35 or so and there all fairly small little apps but I use them all.
Yet I am always getting the phone is running low on memory message, so I cant install anything from the app store. Thing is I still have 11.55 mb of phone memory but I feel I should have loads more, there's only really a few things taking up memory from what I can see in my apps because everything else is on my sd card.
Contacts Storage: 17.34mb
Flash Player 10.1 : 12.39mb
Maps ; 7.75mb
Swype: 5.96mb
Facebook: 3.80mb
Voice Search: 2.57mb
HTC Sense : 2.30mb
Internet : 2.39mb
Everything else is all really under 1mb. Is there some other files or something lurking on my phone memory that shouldn't be there?

Aug 7, 2010in spare parts, under other usage, My Wi-Fi on and Wi-Fi Running percentages are ALWAYS the same... right now sitting at 99% each. Surely Wi-Fi on should be at 99%, but Wi-Fi running should be considerably lower since I don't have any form of auto sync or location based things on.I can keep my phone on for 12 hours, Wi-Fi enabled, and Wi-Fi running is always full, at 99 odd percent. Nothing is using the wi-fi, even when i choose to forget my wifi details so there is no connection. I suspect it may have something to do with the root process "0" under Network usage under Battery history in spare parts. I'm thinking it's keeping my Wi-Fi active and draining my batt, even if it's not pulling any data.I've completely uninstalled every app (except spare parts), wiped cache and dalvik, put phone on Aeroplane mode, nothing changes. Facebook app isn't updated to 1.3 or 1.3.1 either.Really at wits end as to why my Wi-Fi is "running" at 100% all the time.Here are my details: HTC Desire rooted with Clockwork from latest Unrevoked. Rom is Official Sense + Froyo from OpenDesire Team v1.0c

Aug 25, 2010the phone is top notch but every now and then it will just shut down and then will take bout half hour to get back on as when turn on it shuts down again and again. It mainly happens when running apps and internet, say i got internet n fb running then i start typing a text it will shut down for no reason i havnt a clue why this is happening. Getting so frustrating as i love the phone but i cant deal with it. Also why cant i browse the main browser using my 3g connection only with wi-fi but i can use opera mini using 3g ? thanks alot !

Oct 1, 2010I think my Battery just hit a turning point in its life. For whatever reason I got exceptionally good battery life yesterday. I had it unplugged for 20 hours and it was only down to 52% Remaining by the time I was going to bed. Usually, I only get maybe 18-20 Hours with 10-20% left. My usage was if anything higher than usual too throughout the day. Listening to music/videos/texting/emailing/testing apps for a fair bit of the day.The only thing I did differently that morning was unplug it like normal (when I woke up and it was at 100)%, then plug it back in about 10 seconds later for another 5 Minutes before heading out the door. Would that have caused this peculiarity in my battery consistency.

Is anyone able to explain what XXX and XYZ are please? I am guessing XXX = memory taken up and XYZ = number of processes?
But it doesn't make sense to say: Avail: 32MB + 0.00B in 31 processes
What are considered 'good', 'bad' and optimal figures here?
HTC Desire :: Internal Phone Storage Running Very Low
Apr 19, 2010I have a major issue with my Desire. I've been keeping an eye on the amount of Internal Phone Storage space I have left as it's running very low and I've noticed that if I install an application and then uninstall it not all of the space is freed up. I've tried rebooting and that does not help. I don't want to go down the path of do a factory reset and restoring my apps but I can't think of any other way round it. Does anyone know which folder on the phone applications are installed to? I've found the system apps in /system/app but I'd like to check to see if there's anything left behind from applications that I've uninstalled as a last resort.

Oct 12, 2010My desire was taking approx 40mins to power down so I installed an task killer to show me what was running in the back round. I was astounded approx 25 apps were continually running in the backround so by killing these apps powering down now only take 15secs max. However, ive become a bit obsessed with this task killer. i keep checking what is running and there are things on there that i have never used such as "you tube", "news" "talk" etc. Could someone please point me in the right direction about how i stop these apps from running without me requesting them too? I know a lot of say task killers are not essential but it has certainly shown me the reason why my desire was running so slowly. Also one more thing, after powering off my phone, when restarting, ALL the apps automatically start running then? Is there a startup menu that can be editted for example?

Aug 31, 2010Got a problem since 2.2 thats bugging me and draining battery life, in 2.1 I'd used Advanced Task Killer to kill all Apps I did'nt want which was fine, more often than not it was just Apps i'd manually started that popped up for killing. Now I find in 2.2 that theres Apps that start running without me even opening them and sometimes its 7-8 Apps at once which cant be good for battery life (and I've noticed a drop in that). Anyone else finding this? Anyway to stop apps Automatically starting once I connect to the Internet for example? as alot of them pop up after I do that, but other times the phones on idle and I select ATK and theres some appeared on it, last thing I want to do is check ATK every 10mines just to save battery.

Nov 12, 2010First of all, I am running stock 2.2 on an unbranded Desire, with latest firmware from HTC. Sometimes when I go to my messages and say, click on messages from "John", messages from a random other contact come up. If I click back and click John again, the correct messages appear. It doesn't happen all the time (maybe once every few days?), but unless I am careful I end up sending a message to the wrong person. I have tried restarting the phone, but don't really want to factory reset for such a minor issue. Never happened under 2.1.

I have unlocked my HTC desire from orange using a code from mobileunlocked.co.uk cost me �22.99 I have upgraded to 2.2 fro yo and am running software number 2.17.61.2 browser 3.1 I'd now like to debrand the phone but do not want to root as i am not into customising my phone that much. I do however want to rid it of the orange start up and the orange widgets and understand enough to know that i don't need/ want the orange excess stuff. I don't want to have to reboot and reflash my phone or find that wifi doesn't work with a custom Rom that might go wrong.

Aug 22, 2010After the 2.2 update, my battery has been starting to be extremely bad. I recharged it yesterday until it was 100% charged. Now, 18 hours later, the battery is at 15%.
I only used my HTC Desire to do this:
1. Listening to offline songs through Wimp, a Spotify-clone, for about an hour.
2. Texting 3-4 sms.
3. Doing 1 call.
4. Having it on while I was asleep.
My battery was usually lasting 3-4 days with this kind of use, but now it's so bad.

HTC Desire :: Multitasking - Jump Between Running/open Apps?
May 4, 2010How do I jump between running/open apps? Yesterday I was playing spades and chatting with a friend on google talk. It was terrible. I could not jump between the game and the chat. I had to hit home button, then menu then Google talk, to go back to spades I could hold the down home button and jump back to spades from the popup window. I could not do this with google talk from spades because google talk was not in the recently opened apps popup window.

But if I go back to the 'advanced task killer' few minutes after closing all the apps, I see all the apps are running again. Jun 30, 2010I have my desire from the end of april. Everything was ok, battery runs about 30-50 hours depending on the load til last week monday. I start to receive a sms about missed calls and peoples tell me what then they call me operator says that phone is out of reach. Now the battery runs only a day. about 12 hours.
I take a look into Battery use and there shows that Android system uses about 63% Is this normal?

I tried to write "spiser" (eat) but it suggested "spiser r" (Sophagus)
When I wrote "klokken" (at) it suggested klokkesl t" (time)
It changes simple every day words into complicated - rarely used words.

Nov 4, 2010I've created a class which is an extension of Thread. This class hits a web service and throws some data on screen. I don't care about persisting this data (the screen displays search results).
Currently, the user simply types into an EditText and clicks a search button. I'd like to take away the search button and implement something similar to Google's Instant Search where, as you type, the search results get updated.
This means, as the user types, the search parameters change. I want to be able to kill the currently running thread (if one is currently running) and spawn a new one with the new search string. How can this be achieved? Can I do it with Thread or will I need to use a new object?
HTC Desire :: Market Errors - Market Running Very Slow
May 1, 2010Massive problems with the market im experiencing, iv had my desire for 3 weeks, and no problems at all, UNTILL NOW, whats going on?
I go to search in the market, and type in dialer, it brings up all the customisable dialer choices, if i choose ANY of them, i go to pay, and everytime i get the error message "A server error has occurred,retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen" but it is only on the dialer packages.i can buy and download anything else fine,
Can someone test this out for me?
Iv reset my phone 3 times, and its the same thing evertime, WHATS GOING ON?
Also the market is running VERY SLOW on my phone.
