View 14 RepliesSome have complained about not being able to change the LED or get repeat notifications for gmail. I stumbled on this last night and thought I would share. I haven't tried it and make no claims to its greatness.Gmail Notifier. It lets you change the color of the LED, vibration length, and gives repeat notifications. It also works for multiple gmail accounts I believe.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf you are a business user like me, then you probably need your phone to sound EVERY time you get a new email, not just at the first unread message. This has been so frustrating since I purchased the Droid, and a quick google search showed that this is a problem many have but google was not exactly rushing to fix!
Issue 4190 - android - Gmail Notifications Bug?Project Hosting on Google Code.I stumbled upon Gmail Notifier (free) in the android market a couple of days ago, and it fixes the problem! Plus, it has has multi-account support and custom options regarding LED color, vibration length, etc. And it does not run in the background, so no decreased battery life, etc.The original version did not have support for multiple accounts, but I sent a quick email to the Dev and he fixed it in the new update that came today!I'm using it in conjunction with Gmail Unread Count widgets, and finally the email on my Droid is up to par with (well, actually better than) my old blackberry!

View 1 Replies View RelatedGmail pushes almost instantly. But this only seems to work when the phone is in use. Is this normal; I just switched over from the Storm 2.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy emails are showing up in the gmail app at sporadic intervals; sometimes they show up immediately while other times I only receive the email if I refresh within the app itself. I noticed this after I manually did the update last Friday on my Eris. Emails are showing up rather quickly on 3G, but hardly at all on wifi. I'm testing this by sending myself emails to the gmail account from a non-gmail account on the laptop. I saw over in the Moto Droid forum that some users there are experiencing gmail push slowness/problems.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy desire will not always ring the sms ring notifier when i recieve texts, it annoyed me so much that i decided to do a warranty swap, and the new one does the same thing!is this a standard android thing? it seems to me that if i have recieved or sent a text to somebody within 30 minutes, it will not ring, as though it expects me to be hovering over my phone staring at it for a reply, is this a normal issue? and is there a way to fix it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just updated to version 2.1 and noticed my push Gmail wasnt working. I then went into the Google Mail application and can see its not showing any emails in the inbox and its not downloading any mail in "All items" either. Its only showing emails prior to the update. If I hit refresh it spins for a few moments and I see the data arrows indicate transfer but it doesnt refresh the inbox.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been experiencing a rather frustrating issue with the 3G connection on my Desire which seems to work intermittently at best. When on H or WiFi the connection is fast and I am very happy. However when 3G is connected it rarely works and I usually receive a message to say there is no connection at all! I am connected via Orange just in case this is network specific.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have 3 accounts in my HTC Desire. Gmail (or should I call this Google?) - the automatically saved emails that GMAIL keeps when you write to a person.
Phone - which are the phone numbers saved in my phone and
Facebook - So when I go to people, I see that there's like 4 categories when I press MENU and VIEW: SIM(0) ; Google(296); Phone(731) and Facebook (460)
Ok, first weird thing is that even if I choose to View only my Phone contacts, on searches and when I write an SMS, the suggestions include their Gmail and Facebook entries too- which is quite confusing because the reason I hid them is I only want to send an SMS (yeah I know theres an option "Only contacts with phone number"). Is this really the case? Next weird thing is that: Since some of my Phone contacts are actually my Gmail and FB contacts as well, I linked them from the phone app (I clicked Link in the Menu and chose their respective contacts). Okay, so in the list, I see the name of my Phone contact and at the same time if I click on their names I see email and FB info as well (the FB profile pic shows! neat!).
However, I found out that when I try to click on Edit it still let me choose which contact I will edit, in this case: Google or Phone - I thought I linked you 2 already, so it follows that if I add an info, like, another number then it (the Phone app) should assign it to the name as a whole, right? Apparently, the Link command in Phone app only makes you "see" one name in the list- but in other processes still treats your contacts separately. Okay good- at least I know now. But When I try to Delete the contact in Phone it also deletes the Google contact but Facebook contact remains. Does it really treat them separately or as one- basically the problem is that users need to know how the Phone app actually does it's process of syncing. Or at least wouldn't it make sense, for the system to ASK you which account you would want to delete the same way it asked which one you wanted to edit (as my experience did above)? Something like "Do you wanna delete: Google, Phone or ALL?" (I know Facebook is a bit complicated so it's ok if Facebook contact editing and deletion is not totally synced for now).
When my countdown has timed pu, the sound no longer works. I've tried everything and every setting, anyone had this problem or got any ideas?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm away from home without a WiFi connection it seems like nothing works. You Tube, Last FM, eBay and worst of all any of the three different types of Twitter I have. Some of these apps are incredibly slow or others just give up. I've never been able to upload a picture via Twitter using any platform. Really annoying. Seems my Gmail isn't even notifying my anymore.. Have I done something? Is this linked to Orange's notoriously poor set up?
Will rooting my phone help? I'm already running out of space on my phone after downloading what I consider a fairly small number of apps. Why don't they save to, and run off, the SD card?
Issue: Internet works, but wont browse
I am having a slight issue with my new lovely HTC desire. I love this phone, but there are a few annoyances that I'd love to iron out.
Mainly, browsing the Internet. All of my apps work fine, all of my widgets update correctly, Facebook works, the market place is open for business: everything appears fine. However, occasionally, when I open the browser (Google is my homepage) and after I have typed what I would like to search, I am unable to press 'enter'. The enter button on the keyboard does nothing. When pressing the little magnifying glass in the browser: nothing.
I have found a workaround by copying my text and pasting it into the search on the HTC Desire itself (with the bottom right hand button on the phone itself) and this searches the Internet no questions asked.
Am I the only one experiencing this problem? It usually happens when I try to show off to my friends that, like the Lawnmower Man, I have immediate access to the Internet to answer their questions. But I embarrassingly get stuck waiting for it to work, having to cut, paste... I am losing kudos here....
Any word on the notifier LED on the EVO? One thing I hated about my Hero is the green-only, tiny, dim notifier.
Absolutely love how customizable (through an App anyway) my BB's LED is, both in brightness and color, and it'd be a shame if HTC stuck with the Hero's for their new devices.
I guess the Incredible can be a hint of what's to come. Anyone know what that phone's LED is like?
Anybody have any probs with the power button? Got caught in a torrential downpour this afternoon to find my wallet and phone somewhat damp after being in my soaking jeans.Power button no longer works so effectively once the screen saver kicks in I cant unlock it. Thankfully its still within warranty so will take it back to get a replacement. This is the 2nd phone I've had that has suffered this prob. My previous phone, a dreadful Sony Ericsson died a death.Avoiding the rain is somewhat unavoidable when you live in Scotland. MakingTaking a phonecall in the rain is sometimes a necessary evil. I really have to question the build quality of some of the modern phones. Do they even test the use of phones in the rain? It seems somewhat of a basic function, and to have such a major malfunction with such minimal exposure to rain is quite disappointing to say the least, especially when it never came into direct contact.

Tap the icon and the screen shows the white startup icon, then goes back to the home screen. I'm on 3 in the UK, and have an unbranded, un-locked handset, as sent to me by 3. The phone is not rooted.

I purchased a HTC Desire a few days ago and I think it's great. However, there is one thing that bothers me. I've been quite slow at joining the smartphone community, primarily due to all the reports/stories of high phonebills relating to internet usage. So, having got my hands on the phone its self - I thought I'd play with it for a while and stick to using my home wifi connection for downloading apps and playing with map applications etc.
The phone came pre-installed with Android 2.2 and therefore has this wireless hotspot app built in. So, to see how it worked, I enabled the feature and connected to the phone from my laptop.
My first surprise was that it worked. My laptop was connected to the phone and web pages were loading up on it. Realising that my phone was already set up to connect to my wireless router for internet access though, I figured that it was probably sharing that connection with my laptop. Well, at least that's what I was hoping...
At this point I unplugged my home modem/router and tried again. Fully expecting my laptop to complain about the lack of internet connectivity, I was quite shocked to find that web pages were loading up on my laptop and there's now a '3G' logo (with flashing up/down arrows) showing on the top status bar of the phone.
From what I've said here, my only conclusion is that my phone is transferring data over the mobile phone network, but considering that I don't have a data plan, how can this be? If I disable the hotspot feature (with my home router switched off), my phone cannot access the internet, but if I enable the wireless hotspot feature of the phone and connect to it - my laptop can.
My SIM card is from Tchibo Germany (o2 network).
Just got back from my hols where I used my (stock) N1 camera a lot. Got some great pics but a few certainly highlighted just how important touch-to-focus is to me. Was quickly reading a review of the Desire and read it has touch-to-focus. Was just wondering if anyone who is actually running the modaco desire ROM on their N1 can confirm whether this works? I'd also be interested to know if I could just use the desire camera app on a rooted N1 with Cynanogen? I'm rather partial to the stock appearance and not massively inclined towards Sense UI.

View 10 Replies View RelatedIs there an app that notifies me the user about that my jelly bean phone has just crashed, with the exact time and date and is also logging in a database, so I can look it up later? Is there an app like that?
My phone, ever since moving to cyanogenmod 10.1 (considered stable) is rebooting randomly pretty much every day. Sometimes, during the night it might be even doing this without me knowing. I want to calculate a stability index (also for other OS) based on the run time and the crashes (unwanted restarts) that the OS is doing. If the crash frequency goes over a certain threshold, the user can be warned that his OS is unstable and unreliable at the moment and that she should not rely on it.
I want to be able to use encryption again, but cannot if I want to be able to use the alarm clock and depend on it waking me up.
I could not find a Stack Overflow notifier Android app so I am planning on making one. I hope that my app will serve a similar purpose as the Stack Overflow Notifier Chrome extension. This will be my first Android app so I am still unfamiliar with the platform. So I currently plan to ask the user to login by bringing up a WebView and then access the Recent Activity page in the background at specific intervals. My question:How can I store the authentication cookie from StackOverflow after the user has logged in through the WebView and then send this cookie in the HttpGet request when accessing the Recent Activity page?
