View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I waste a bit of screen real estate on my Droid with a few photos of my family. I just like to have a photo on each page. I was wondering if anyone has run across a Photo Frame app that is clickable to a defined action like "Call Wife".
Anyone run across an app like that?
Seems like a pretty easy app to write, but I am having a hard time finding one...
I'm looking for a photo frame widget that scrolls through photos. I had Turtle Photoframe, but it was using up to 9% of my battery on my Epic, while most other apps like Touiteur and Tasker were using 2-3%.

I was wondering if there are any MDs or anyone else that works in healthcare that could help me out with some useful apps
So far I have epocrates (wish they would come out with the full version for Android since we get it free through school), emergency medical Spanish, pub med, skyscape
I've created an application that show around 250 images in ImageView. Images are loaded one after another, 15-30 images per second. Basically the whole thing gives an illusion of a rotating 3D object, at least it should.
The problem is next, app hangs when loading certain images(i.e. I see a few seconds of fluid animation and then animation hangs, jump 10-15 frames(images) ahead and continues. It always happens at the same places in animation cycle.
I though that Android might not have enough resources to handle something like this, so I've resized images to half their size, but it did't help. I've tried buffering images but that did't help either(actually, maybe a little, I think that animation looks a little bit smoother).
And now the weirdest thing. I use the touch screen to allow users to "rotate" the 3D object on those images, and while rotating I again experience those hangs at exactly the same places as with the animation.
All images are in .png format and their size vary from 15kB to 40kB.
I use the following code for the animation:

I would prefer to not have to purchase a Flip Video Recorder to provide me the frame by frame playback needed (coaching girls softball) for instant instruction at practice. Is there an app that provides playback of video at a frame by frame rate?

View 1 Replies View Related I have been scrolling through the market looking at the free apps and considering downloading some of them, however I keep getting the warning notifications and some of them can be quite scary ie will access phone contact data etc and this puts me right off downloading. Some of the sites are what I would call trusted sites and I already have them on my PC at home.
My friend has an I phone and never gets these warnings and downloads lots of apps, so im sure she thinks my phone is rubbish compared to hers
So is it safe for me to download and why does Apple not provide the same warnings...
How do I install APK files from non-market apps onto my HTC desire?

[2012-05-19 22:26:32 - LiveWallpaper] The launch will only sync the application package on the device!
It does install to the emulator. It all seems to work. I go in to the live wallpaper menu, find my live wallpaper in there open it, it loads. but its not moving through the frames. It only shows the last frame. I set it as wallpaper. It also doesn't do anything. Also would like to center the images.

Can people please confirm if the Android Market is down?
I cannot download apps to my DHD
I just recorded a video clip which had a strange effect. When in photo albums, instead of a thumbnail of the video in question, the phone created a thumbnail of a video I have recorded previously and then deleted. Does anyone know how to make the phone recreate all thumbnails for the media files? I am leaning towards deleting all the files in /sdcard/DCIM/.thumbnails/ but not sure this is the way to do it?
View 10 Replies View Relatedi've just upgraded to the Desire & am liking many things in it, but this issue bugs me:i've synced & linked the contacts in my 'people' app. in some cases, this involved linking the FaceBook profile of a person with a pre-exisitng phone number in my phone/sim card. The problem is that the phone seems to default to the Facebook 'profile picture' as the icon/photo that shows up in my People app (for that contact), even if tell it not to.I've tried downloading new pics, or taking a photo with the camera, and then manually setting this as the 'icon' for a certain person. This works for a while (a few hours?) and then within one day, the phone automatically re-sets this icon & replaces it with the Facebook profile pic. again.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThere was an article on the BBC website a few days ago about a study that was done that found applications on the Android Market were transmitting information back like phone numbers, IMEI numbers and SIM serial numbers when the permissions were only for location, camera and audio data. (Original article: BBC News - Google Android apps found to be sharing data )
It appears that Google's response was something along the lines that the apps give the user the choice to continue with the install and it is up to the user to only install apps they trust. I for one think that I am a bit careful in what I choose to download (ie: why would an app for wallpapers want access to my contacts? etc) but how can you really know for sure it is only getting the info it says it wants and where are the boundries?
I don't know enough about programming and the like but was just wondering with the new Sense and other apps where you can remotely wipe your phone if stolen and other such things, if other companies (or even a kid in his bedroom who write a simple app game and gets access to your phone's details) have this info (IMEI number etc), how do you protect yourself? Am I just being overly paranoid? On the other hand, I don't want to have a phone and *not* download any apps!
Is there someplace that can explain what permissions would give me a definite "no" for certain types of apps? Something like "a game should never want access to x, y, z." Although this probably wouldn't help if the app was taking more info than it needs anyway from the particular 'permission'.
I had a quick browse of the actual research paper and a lot of it is just techno-jiggery to me but I do recognize some apps that I would have normally trusted (ie: Layars, Barcode Scanner, Astrid). I don't know if these particular apps took more info than they should have but it does make me wonder. (Research can be found from here: TaintDroid: Realtime Privacy Monitoring on Smartphones )
I've got a HTC desire. New to android phones.
I've set up a gmail, facebook etc..
having problems getting android market to accept my card details. it says the information isn't correct, even know I have put the information in right.
I m on orange network and I live in the Uk
is there anything I need to know? or now I can buy apps off android market with my card?
Recently rooted, and Market says there is updates, but it can't update them. The apps were included as part of leedroid 2.2f. I've read that I can use Titanium to uninstall the app (e.g. maps) then install again from the market. Is this correct, don't want to upset anything.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems trying to use files after moving them.
Example:
I took a bunch of pictures at an event, the created a folder for that event and moved the pictures into it. I can still open the pictures one at a tiem by navigsting too them, but the galleary app still shows the thumbs, but cannot find them.
Example 2:
I downloaded an mp3 for a ring tone, and while in the downloads folder the music player found it and I was able to set it at a ring tone. But I tried to create a ringtones folder, and then music could not find it, and just playing it by opening the file would not allow me to set a ring tone.
So how does this work? I have seen references here to folders called Media and ring tones, but I see nothing like that in the file system on my phone. Where does one put music if they want to actually use the music player?
Is the DCIM folder the ONLY one that works with the photo gallery? Is the Downloads folder the ONLY one that works with the music player?
This morning I went into market and saw that 4 apps needed updating, 2 of the apps were on my SD card.
The 2 apps not on SD updated fine but the 2 on SD card forced Marketplace to FC. When I went back into Market the apps were in the process of updating and seemed to update and run.
However after rebooting the phone the apps were no longer installed.
It was at this point that I noticed Market had been upgraded to 2.12.
I tried installing the apps again, which succeeded but when I tried moving them to SD card it failed. I had to uninstall/reinstall the apps again and I was then allowed to copy them to the SD card.
I have now done a clear data and clear cache on market to see if that helps.
All my other apps are fine both on and off the SD card and I used to be able to update them on SD card with no problems.
Until I get another update for an app on SD I cannot be sure the problem is resolved but it does appear that 2.12 managed to break something.
Can anyone please give the list of good/popular apps that are not on regular android market for samsung captivate? I have installed angry birds and fennec alpha using side load wondermachine and app brain fast web installer. I would like to install some good apps that are not found in the market place.
