I'm a winmo convert and just setting up my new Desire. All pretty good so far. I'd like to be able to change the from / reply to address on an account in the the Mail application (as opposed to the Gmail one) but can't find an option to. I have mail from my primary account forwarding to my gmail account which syncs with the Desire and I want to be able to reply using my primary address rather than the gmail one.

I want to change the email address the phone is set up to. But I have a niggling suspicion doing so requires a factory reset. First things first, please tell me if that's wrong and I'll be happy. If however I'm right, What's the best way to go about saving everything? If I download a backup program, will it store all my settings, apps etc or just data on the SD card? And will changing the email address bugger something up and stop me from restoring the backup? I wouldn't put it past google.

Now for those contacts they have 2 email addresses. Work and private. The problem is. How can I change that work email address to be primary address? Now if i link contacts with Facebook the primary email address is always their private mail, but for those working friends I want to change that primary address to be works email address.

Now she wants to change the master email address to her new gmail account. So far I got the "mail" app to transfer into the new account. However when we go to google talk it still shows her as signed in on her old account. Is there an easy fast way to change the master email address without having to do a factory reset? She doesn't care if she loses any apps if people are wondering.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've looked through the other SMTP threads on here also, but didn't see anything that seemed to fit. I have a Desire and I use it over a WiFi link in my home, fine for surfing and reading mail, but when I try to set up an outgoing mail account on my 'usual' mail account I run into a problem. Because I travel a lot I use a service called authsmtp to provide me with an smtp address wherever I am, works fine, annual fee is low (not a recommendation, works for me).
However, in order to work it needs an SMTP address of the form mail.authsmtp.com and a password. I can enter the mail.authsmtp.com ok but it always says it cannot check the account. Is this 'cos it cannot check the smtp or is it something else? All the other data seems to be ok.
I am in the CC section of the original email I get the email back to me again. Is there anyway to stop this from happening? In IOS that doesn't happen when I reply to all it doesn't come back to me again.
View 3 Replies View Relatedright, have had my hero for several months and only this week gmail has started playing up. I receive emails however when I delete this is not actually reflected in my account and still there when I logon via internet. That means volume count of messages remain high and eventually they return back into my gmail account on the phone. When I try and reply to an email it simply states "sending" without actually sending. Not sure if this is ROM specific, I have used a couple now with the same issue (Villain 10.3 + Superhero 2 - although admittedly they have been authored by the same people).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have noticed for the last month not being able to send a MMS or reply or send gmail email. I think this started after installing Baked Snack 1.7 ROM from Damage Control 3.2 ROM. I have since tried to fix it by installing Fresh 3.3 ROM, radio 2.15.00.09.01 and WIMAX 26023. The error i get when trying to send MMS is generic network failure. All other functions of the phone work normally as far as i know. Anyone else run across an issue like this?

Instead, the full gmail address (aka [a bunch of gibberish] @gmail.com). How do I change the name on the address book to use the old phone contact instead of the gmail contact name? I tried adding a nickname to the gmail contact under "edit contact" but all if did was change how the person's name shows up on gmail chat on my computer.

I have no trouble revieving email through the email setup not Gmail but there is no provision for an address book or contacts list for sending emails. I Googled around and found K-9 Email and went to Google Apps to download it and upon tapping the download button a message came up stating "no devices found". The Nexus7 is running Jellybeen 4.2.1.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a user who has a Samsung Galaxy S3 and is using the GMail app to read her emails. This all works fine except for when she goes to reply to one. When she replies, everything looks ok and she can even send without a problem. The problem comes when the message is received the original message (below what she typed) just reads "Original sender wrote : " and that's it. That actual original message isn't there.
I've checked all the settings and even recreated the account and it still does it. I also checked the sent messages and it's like it there too so it's definatley something to do with the phone. The only thing we've found is that if you edit the original message in any way - even just by adding a space - it goes through correctly.
solve the issue on the android ICS Wifi Mac address , here are the problems
1) NVRAM warning Err 0x10
2) Wifi always disconnect after able to obtain IP and browse internet a few seconds
3) Noticed that the MAC address last 6 digits are always changing, like 00:08:22:XX:XX:XX after I enable/disable the wifi
4) IPLINK SHOW ETH0 -- error: Can't find device 'eth0' , but WLAN0 is present
5) NetCfg command shows only Lo, wlan0, tunl0,sit0,ip6tnl0,ccmni0,ccmni1,ccmni2. but the Eth0 is not present?
Those problems originally found at the original rom. I have downloaded another similar rom but still not okay.
I downloaded the MIUI rom but only updates the system.img, recovery.img, boot.img. other image files were the same. The WIFI errors are still there.
Just getting used to my HTC Desire, after reading your forum I was comforted regarding battery life and it seems much better now than the first few days.
I see another post on this but no answer, the address book only gives one line of the address is then any way round this? Even my first pda a Psion 3 had the option of which fields to display etc. there seems very little option to format what is seen, not that I am unhappy about the rest but to have to edit to see all the address is barmy.
Another thing way back then that still is not found is search all fields of the contacts, i.e. to find a number of someone that rang on another phone.
I got an Android device specifically for Google integration, since my employer uses Google for 50% of our work (email, calendar, chat). Yet bizarrely, Android's Gmail app seems to be the weakest point of their platform.
IMHO (and please not let this become some kind of fanboy bashfest of someone trying to put in constructive criticism here):
The "Reply," "Reply All," and "Forward" buttons are very inconvenient -- at the bottom of the message, rather than a toolbar of some kind. This means that when I want to respond to one of those interminable email chains, I have to scroll past wads of old crap to reply. I've had intermittent success with forwarding attachments. It seems unpredictable when an attachment will forward and when it won't. Can someone shed some light into when it works? I suspect it has something to do with Outlook or other clients that attach files in non-standard ways. Very limited offline functionality. I would really prefer if there were an IMAP mode so I can review email while offline (e.g. on the plane or underground). Specific to the Droid: The D-Pad has so much potential, but instead all it does is jump from link to link in an email, which I do not find intuitive at all. At a minimum I'd think that the D-Pad would let you scroll; ideally, I'd like to see the D-Pad help solve the first problem described above (lack of access to the reply and forward buttons) so enough whining from me. I'd appreciate any solutions to the above (and "Shut up and deal with it" is not appreciated). It could be keystroke shortcuts I'm not aware of, apps that work better than the default Gmail program, pending app updates that take advantage of the Droid's unique hardware, etc.
I got myself a Chinese clone of a galaxy S3 (alps 7102), it has Android's Jelly Bean 4.1.1 operating system on it.
It keeps on changing its wi-fi mac address on reboot which I guess I could put up with, I have seen other posts with similar problems on varying phones and have tried to fix it, as per the methods described for them, but I cant seem to get a fix that works, for my phone I am not very familiar with the android operating system but have some experience with linux.
The phone doesn't seem to have a bootloader as I have tried to boot the phones bootloader with the adb command "adb reboot- bootloader" from my pc but it just boots as usual, I have done a factory reset to the phone as per the instructions from the ebayer that I bought the phone from but that didn't fix it (as you might have guessed) but it did reset the phones serial number to 0123456789ABCDEF which I have no idea why that happened but has added to the issues that I would like to be fixed.

- I normally searched for it's wifi mac address and insert it in the router and get connected the internet.
- Next day I couldn't get connected to the internet!... When I checked the device mac address and I found it changed !!!!!! (it was 00:08:22:e8:f5:99 and changed to 00:08:22:5c:44:f5 !!!) later, after I went out and get back to home and tried to connect to internet, again I couldn't and the reason was that I found the mac address changed again!!! the new one was 00:08:22:1c:88:fc !!!
- It is continuing... every time I get new mac address and I must insert it to router to be able to connect to the internet.
I recently did a factory reset so I could change the gmail address my phone associates with. I did a factory reset because the option to clear data option under Settings - Applications - Manage Applications - Google Apps - Clear Data was not there (I have Sense UI 2.1, don't know if that was the culprit). My question is, is there a way to reinstall my paid apps, without buying them again, since my phone now associates my new gmail address with the market and Google Checkout? Or is there a way for the market to use my old gmail address so i can reinstall these paid apps without paying for them again, and then use the new address? I backed up all my apps with Astro, but for some reason bTunes didn't get back up.

At present I have to reply to the message, then go back into messaging, touch and hold the message then select forward - now I can send this message to other recipients or a group. Seems a roundabout way.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUnless it is just my settings, when I text I can send a text and receive a quick reply and can reply back and forth. However, if I back out of messaging (go to main screen to any other app) the reply that I receive has lost the area code prefix and my replies will not be delivered. All my contacts have been entered with the 10 digit number but like I said, if I leave the messaging session after my first send, the contact number is truncated to 7 digits.

How do I go about adding that as my second email account on the phone? I think I was on the right track, but I don't know what type of server it is, which I think is the main thing I'm asking here. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use "note to self" and it records fine and I hit send, It then pops up email clients. if i choose, yahoo it doesn't autofill anything, if i choose the built in mail app it auto fills the subject and the message but it does not have my email address as a default, so I have to type it in every time. Since it is note to self, shouldn't it keep my email address in there. I haven't found a way to make it default. Any suggestions?
