HTC Desire :: Flashing Update.zip With HTC_IME_MOD On Defrost

Nov 24, 2010

Flash (in clockworkMOD) a .zip file containing a themed HTC IME Mod, however, it is not installing properly.
I have the keyboard in apk file. I place this in a folder called app and that is in a folder called system. I then sign the file and save it as a .zip (I have created other files and they have worked perfectly). The problem is, the HTC_IME in DeFroST is already installed, and my themed one is not over writing the one which is on the ROM as standard. I have tried to change the name to the same as it is in the ROM (HTC_IME_hi22.apk) within the system/app folders, but this still didn?t change it. Am I missing something here?

HTC Desire :: Can't Send Email After DeFrost Update

Jul 16, 2010

if this is in the wrong section but since I've updated to 2.2 (using Lekky's fantastic guide), I'm unable to send emails and just can't think what I'm doing wrong. I can receive emails (set up as POP3) but the outgoing server just tells me there is a connection error. I'm on orange with an NTLworld account. For the outgoing SMTP server I have tried:

smtp.orange.co.uk
smtp.orange.net
smtp.orangeworld.co.uk

Either port 25 or 465 (found on the net - not orange's website) Leave the 'sign in' unticked. Is this a problem with FroYo or me being a numpty?

HTC Desire :: Defrost Rom Email Error

Sep 1, 2010

just changed to defrost rom. works brilliant this time! Only problem is the email. on the default rom it allows you to skip past options if it cant connect to it. eg not been able to connect to your smtp server. if it canbt connect it says cant promise it will work while sending but you can continue. if that makes sense lol. With this one if it doesnt connect it wont let you. My email smtp is smtp.dsl.pipex.com However i believe the three network which i am on block the port this ISP uses. so i cant send mail from my phone. How can i get round this? im not to bothered about the fact i cant send but because of the menu option it wont let me finilize to recieve? im so rubbish at explaining myself Hope this makes sense guys?

HTC Desire :: Does DeFRost ROM Support Stereo Bluetooth

Sep 28, 2010

I can't get my Nokia BH-214 Bluetooth Stereo headset to work with my HTC Desire.I have previously had it working fine with the stock HTC sense & the LeeDroid ROM. I have recently loaded the DeFRost 4.6 ROM.I can get it to pair OK and it appears in the 'Bluetooth Devices' list as 'Paired but not connected', when I try to connect I get a 'Cannot establish communication with Nokia BH-214' error.I am guessing this ROM does not support the A2DP standard. Is there a workaround?

HTC Desire :: Unable Update OTA - Flashing New Rom

Sep 23, 2010

ive decided finally to bite the bullet, having a desire on 707.6 not being able to update OTA maybe due to the great firewall of china or HTC either way, no matter how many times i got to settings > about phone > check for updates, .....so the only option here is to flash a new rom....im not going to wait any more while everyone has Froyo...

HTC Desire :: Update / Flashing ROM Black Screen

Sep 22, 2010

After buying a HTC Desire in August, I've been very happy with it. The best phone I have ever owned. And after rooting it and installing LeeDroid's 1.9a ROM, I've been enjoying the tweaks and a2sd+. Anyway, I have a Telus Desire which I unlocked and am using with Fido. I followed this guide to root and this to install the LeeDroid ROM.

Ever since then, however, I have not been flash any new ROMs. When I flash a new ROM using ROM Manager, it goes to the white screen with the HTC in green then the screen/phone just shuts off becoming unresponsive until I take the battery out then in again. When I open ROM Manager, it gives me a pop-up that says "Recovery Failure" with three lines which say:

- Recovery mode is "broken".
- ROM Manager doesn't reboot.
- Other.

I tried to reload the clockwork recovery using ROM Manager and Unrevoked. Didn't seem to fix the issue. There is an official OTA update that I couldn't install due to the same issue. If you have any input as to how I should fix this issue

HTC Desire :: Froyo Update - Flashing Vs Waiting For OTA - Advantages / Disadvantages?

Oct 15, 2010

I'm currently debating whether I should wait for my carrier (Telus) to provide the Froyo update OTA, or use a downloaded ROM. I'm more or less clear on the advantages/DISadvantages of using a downloaded RUU. I'm less clear on the advantages of waiting for Telus to offer it. I recently got the HTC Desire, and the Telus update could be as late as November. I would really like to install Froyo NOW, because once I start using the phone more and entering contacts and agendas and all of that, I don't want to have to redo all the work I did configuring the phone. Waiting for Telus OTA UPDATE:

* I get the update NOW, and I can get on with my life.
* No risk bricking the phone (biggest thing holding me back!)
* No need to waste an entire SD card, just to keep a backup of the Goldcard image in case of later updates

* I LOSE my 1-year warranty with Telus on the phone if its been hacked (UNLESS I can save version 2.1 and flash it back to that??)

General :: Freezing Applications - How To Unfreeze / Defrost Via PC

Apr 7, 2011

Finally decided to bite the bullet and make an account.

Yesterday I bought my first android phone (LG Optimus 2x). Rooted it succesfully today and downloaded Bloat Freezer. I froze several applications successfully, but I think I went a step too far and froze somthing vital. Now my phone will not get past the intial 'StarHub' screen when turning on.

I have tried several things to try and fix this. I have tried unrooting the phone - this has not worked. I have also tried running the NVFlash and this has also yielded no results. I've tried the hard reset (holding volume keys when turning on) however it seems to freeze and nothing tends to happen.

My question therefore is, is it possible to defrost/unfreeze applications via computer?

HTC Magic : 2.1 Update On Rogers / No Progression Bars - Lights Flashing

Sep 15, 2010

I received a message saying system software update to the 2.1 platform. I have tried twice to update with no success using WI-FI.
It will download the update and then stay on a screen that has a triangle with a exclamation mark in it and a Magic laying beside it.

I left it sitting in this state for more then twenty minutes! It appears to be frozen, there are no progression bars, lights flashing or anything showing progress.

I had to pull the battery both times. It comes back to life with 1.5 firmware version on it. I've seen some posts that looks like some people have had success.

HTC Desire :: Flashing ROM But Not Getting It?

Sep 25, 2010

I have rooted my Desire. Now want to get the FroYo update. I know this can be done by flashing a ROM or can I get the OTA update if I go to phone>software update? But 100s of questions...

1. How do I get the official ROM from HTC? (Is official ROM called stock ROM?)
2. What are the differences between leedroid rom or Modaco rom and official ROM
3. I also want the A2SD feature. Would this be available on leedroid or modaco rom? What is the partitioning to do with this?
4. If something goes wrong, can I revert back to old version?
5. I took backup of all my data and apps using Titanium and my backup. But what is nandroid?
6. Most of my backup is stored on my SD card so if a full wipe is needed (what is full wipe and how do i do it?) will I lost all my information, settings and apps?
And I dont understand most of the features listed under different ROMs. Do I need to be aware of them?
Also with the new custom ROM will I get the OTA updates in the future without waiting for the official release by the career?

I probably will have more questions but will be really grateful if I could get the answers for the above. I thought development with the android devices are user friendly but they sure arent if you are just a basic end user like poor me.

HTC Desire :: Flashing

Nov 22, 2010

Have a Desire running stock Vodafone 2.2 at the moment. Made a gold card a few months back (a day before before Voda got their act together with their unbloated 2.2) and now finally got round to rooting it last week (unrevoked) and have been looking around for a rom to flash since then.

Have a couple of questions around apps built into roms :

1) Stripping built in apps, does it make more space for your own apps? Seem to remember reading somewhere that it doesn't - different partitions or something. I'm sort of toying with a Sense rom but wondering if the space saved with a vanilla rom has any real point. Space is my priority for rooting - a2sd+ is the only reason I'm doing it to be honest (okay apart from an insatiable desire to tinker). Is this just a performance thing?

2) Apps added into the rom - lots have Ti Backup etc. I assume there's little point unless the app doesn't get updated much or you don't mind flashing a new version often? An update from the market will just go into user space.

I am roooted and currently running CM6.1, loving the speed and the extra battery life. I now however want to get my apps to run on my SD card, I am think of using darktremor to do the job but wonder if someone could help with some questions.

Will the partitioning of the card and formatting it wipe the Goldcard section of the SD card?

Do I need to put all the stuff I take off the SD card back onto it, I want the music and photos back on but there is a lot of stuff hung over from when I installed every app on the market?

Reading through everything I can find it seems like a 512mb partition seems about right, I believe there is a swap and cache part involved, any ideas on what to make these?

HTC Desire :: Trying To Rebrand By Flashing ROM?

Aug 8, 2010

I'm running a branded Vodafone desire with software 1.24. I am trying to debrand by flashing the rom and then updating to froyo. I have created the working gold card but when I run:
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4. 06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed

It starts the update but then I get a usb connection error (171) and I then have to disconnect, take the battery out and boot to recover my phone. Has anybody encountered this and is there anything i can do get around this? My original only slightly branded desire died by drowning and this is what the insurance company gave me as a replacement! Ooh forgot to say I am running windows 7 x64.

HTC Desire :: Flashing / Rooting / Recovery

Jul 22, 2010

Well I decided to have a play and rooted my phone using the unrevoked method. All quite painless.

I flashed a version of DeFrost (2.2) and had a play, but encountered a couple of problems.

So I flashed 2.3 when is became available.

Then I haf problems with battery drain. Since then there have been a number of new releases of DeFrost - pretty much every day.

So I decided to restore my Nandroid backup and stick with the stock ROM until things settle down a bit.

Having done this, I can no longer get into recovery. The phone hangs on the Pink Circle screen and I have to pull the battery.

So has restoring the Nandroid backup which was made using the ClockWorkMod Recovery destroyed the recovery flash, and is that what you would expect or has something bizarre happened to me.

Just curious as I assumed that once the Recovery was on there it would stay there.

It's no big deal as I'm sure it will be just as easy to go through the rooting process again.

HTC Desire :: Flashing Radio - Which Version To Use?

Nov 3, 2010

I'm constantly flashing new ROM's my end to try and find one that suits. As I'm sure you're all aware, most of them say "Use this Radio for best results". I've stuck with a previously flashed radio for the last few ROM's. I'm about to flash Defrost 6.0. The literature surrounding the ROM says to use a specific Radio to get the camera to work.

My hesitation is this - I've read that trying to flash the same radio version as the one you already have flashed can brick the phone? Is this true? If so, how do I find out which radio version I have?

HTC Desire :: Flashing ROMs - Installation Aborted

Jul 14, 2010

I have a problem in that every time I flash a ROM, it gets as far as flashing boot and I get the following error:

Writing BOOT:...
E:Error finishing BOOT:
E:Failure at line 401L
write_raw_image PACKAGE:boot.img BOOT:
installation aborted.
/tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log. Please open ROM Manager to report the issue. ClockworkMod Recovery v2.0.1.4

I get this error every time. The weird thing is, despite getting the error, it still works with the defrost roms and has done with every release since 2.0a up until 2.0f. Any other ROM, MCRs, djdroid etc just result in a boot loop as far as the white HTC screen. I've wiped the dalvik cache and data but it makes no difference.

HTC Desire :: Flashing ROMs / New Recovery Menu

32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed.exe
as per teppic74's thread over here: Froyo RUU update available

My desire has HBOOT 083 - which I know can be problematic when flashing. My question is:
Is the unrEVOked v3.21 method of getting the new recovery menu the best/easiest/most reliable way to enable me to flash new roms on my phone? Are there any caveats? Anything I should be aware of beforehand? According to teppic74's thread, this version of Froyo cannot be rooted at the moment, which I'm not bothered about anyway. But, it would be nice to try some of those lovely new roms.

HTC Desire :: Flashing ROM - Stuck On Startup Screen

Nov 13, 2010

I had an issue flashing the newest version of the leedroid ROM. To start my phone was running stock un-rooted Android 2.1. This is what I've done

1) Rooted the device using the Unrevoked method. Everything with this went fine. I get the Superuser app and I can get the '#' prompt at a terminal.
2) Then I partitioned my SD card using Rom Manager in preparation for A2SD+
3) Then I booted into clockwork mod recovery and wiped data/factory reset, wiped cache, and wiped dalvik cache
4) Then I tried to flash the leedroid rom from zip on the sd card

After reboot my phone appears to be stuck on the HTC screen and will not move forward. But if I take out the battery I can boot back into recovery mode. So it appears my phone is not broken, but it clearly isn't working. I've tried flashing a number of different ROMs but get the same result each time.

Jelly Bean :: Stuck Flashing ROM With HTC Desire HD?

Nov 24, 2013

I am trying to flash a custom ROM to my HTC Desire HD.

First I managed to unlock the bootloader using the Easy Ace Root Tool and installed ClockworkMod.

Then I tried flashing a Jelly Beans mod (JellyTime 4.2 R11) and it got stuck at the HTC logo screen. I tried wiping / formatting via ClockworkMod but with no success.

Afterwards I used a second phone to put the Download Android Revolution HD 7.3 ROM on the SD card and flash it. This one went fine through the installation wizard but when I was back to ClockworkMod recovery mode I got: "Can't open /cache/recovery/log" "Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log". Then I selected reboot and it was hanging on the HTC logo again... I was waiting for a minute before I took the battery out... After this I tried "format /cache" from the CWM but didn't work either.

Then I tried using a RUU utility in fastbood mode to flash an official HTC ROM:

RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_Radio_12.65.6 0.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_225512_signed.

It reached a particular point saying that the update failed.

I thought I cannot install the official ROM because I have unlocked the bootloader, so I locked it again using the htc fastboot utility. This didn't work either and the RUU failed again.

Here is what the bootloader currently shows:
***** RELOCKED *****
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0029
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.14.04.28_M
eMMC-boot
Dec 22 2011, 14:28:19

I have just a couple of shots before this turns into a beautiful piece of aluminium brick.

HTC Desire :: Radio Files - Flashing Rooted Phone

May 11, 2010

With regard to phone calls dropping when on a nominal h/3g connection (as when I'm in the house I have a 3g/h reception 2 bars but when I pick the phone up it seems to drop out to g after a few seconds so if I answer a call on 3g/h a few seconds later the phone switches to g and disconnects me poor signal in the house I think but very annoying as I have to keep the phone on g only in the house and use WiFi for browsing at the moment)). I searched for some ROM radio files to flash to my rooted phone and found these 3 roms

[Radio ROM] Desire Radio Roms - xda-developers

Was wondering if anyone has looked into this and if there is anymore (possibly updated files) out there. At the moment I have downgraded to file 30.34 as this radio file seems to switch from g/3g/h the quickest and it's a bit more stable (still cutting to g connection once I've had the phone in my hand for a couple of seconds (think due to the receiver being in the bottom of the phone as someone else has reported), will check it's progress but all files give a similar reception.

HTC Desire :: Notification Flash Flashing For 5 Mints / Change It?

May 6, 2010

All in all a great phone - but surely the notification flash should stay on for longer than 5 mins, or have the option to choose how long - This is bonkers!!! having to fire the phone up to see if any messages/missed calls etc

Prob the most important requirement, for me anyway, is to know at a glance any missed communication.

Pretty pointless flashing for 5 mints?

Does anyone know if this will change, can be changed?? Would really rather not have to add an app for this as they seem to mess the phone up at times - but if thats the only way so be it.
