View 1 RepliesI finally got my work email sync'd on my Android phone (Outlook). However, all my annoying meetings from work are now popping up as "notifications" in my phone's status bar. I can't stand corporate meetings, which are a colossal waster of time, and i don't want to be reminded of all the meetings on my work schedule. I was able to successfully turn of the Outlook mail notifications on my phone (and I still get Gmail notifications, since they are two separate email systems, which is exactly what I want). How do I turn my "Outlook calendar reminders," but still be reminded of my Google Calendar reminders, which is my personal, and far more important, calendar?

Does it still sync with Outlook?
Is there an app that directly sync the Samsung Fascination with the Outlook client WITHOUT having to go through the crappy Google calendar? I currently use the Google supplied sync app and it is a piece of crap. I does not resolve conflicts. It does not delete entries that I have deleted oin Outlook. It does not transfer appointments that were created by others that I have accepted. I never had a problem with my old Win Mobile phone and Active sync. I cannot connect to our Exchange server for updates so I must sync directly with my local client. I am getting so sick of companies telling me how I should be doing stuff. First Verizon with all the bloatware you cannot remove and now this. I was told I could sync just like my old phone. Using XP with Office 2007
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just bought my first Android (Acer Liquid) and there are a few apps which I think I can uninstall ....
a) Messaging - I use handcent SMS now not the default app.
b) Acer Sync - Does this just sync with Outlook? I don't use Outlook or need to sync any windows files.
c) Default Browser - I now use Dolphin so the default browser.
d) Email - I just use Gmail.
e) Gmail - I think accessing Gmail via a browser is now Google's best supported method.
f) Gmail Storage - as above.
g) Nemoplayer - I use TuneWiki.
h) RoadSync - I do not use Outlook. This sounds the same as AcerSync.
i) Sync Feeds - Not sure what this does.
I had been recommended Active Sync to sync with Outlook but now i find that it's for syncing with Outlook Exchange. (i'm using plain vanilla Outlook, no Exchange). i happen to run all email via a gmail account for backup, spam filtering, emergencies when I don't have my laptop) so syncing email is not an issue.

Also, I use Windows Vista and the integration with Outlook 2007 was a pain. I am very intersted in WM devices and Android. What is going to be the best for me considereing the above? Do Android and WM sync with Outlook the same and better than the iPhone?
View 12 Replies View Related1. Can anyone comment on the relative differences (or strengths/weaknesses) between using "HTC Sync" versus "Companionlink" -- for bi-directional syncing between Outlook 2007 on a PC -- and Android 2.1?
2. I don't use GMail and I plan to use using a POP3 profile to access my webmail account. Will using either "HTC Sync" or "Companionlink" to sync my contacts -- allow me full access to the multiple email addresses I have stored in my PC's Outlook 2007 account -- for each of my contacts? Or do either of those applications only "capture" one email address data field?
3. Is it possible to compose and send an email in Android's POP3 client -- without necessarily Receiving (downloading) all email that happens to be in that POP3 host's Inbox? I can do this in Outlook -- just not sure about Android.
4. When using a Blackberry and IMAP -- you can specify that you only want the email headers downloaded to the mobile device -- not the entire email. Is this function (headers only) available on Android?
5. I'm assuming it is possible to setup multiple email profiles on Android -- and I am assuming that one can setup an IMAP profile AND a POP3 profile. But, is it possible to setup an IMAP profile for one webmail account (non-Gmail) -- download and read an email from that IMAP account -- but then reply to that email by selecting the POP3 profile that uses an alternate webmail account?
I am looking for the best way to sync my Outlook with my Droid 2. I am a single user, don't have MS Exchange or Google Apps. I want to be able to update both in Outlook and on my Droid and have them sync.... with the least amount of problems and applications.
I don't mind paying a (moderate) fee, but it seems like TouchDown and some of the other recommended apps require MS Exchange.
2) If I do need MS Exchange, what's the best way for me to do that?
3) I remember reading that the upcoming Droid Pro (for Verizon) will have the inherent ability to sync Outlook and the Droid (I'm not positive but I believe it will) - does this mean that there will be a 3rd party application, or an update to Froyo 2.2, that will be released afterward to allow this with other Droids?
ANY help or suggestions would be appreciated. I've spent hours and hours trying to come up with a solution (as I know others have), and I'm hoping someone can enlighten me.I am leaving on a trip in a few days and I have to get my Outlook synced before I leave.I'm desperate.
I'd like to sync my android with Outlook but I don't want my gmail contacts in either (gmail has many contacts I don't want - I don't use it). Any way I can do this? (I also want it for the memos, tasks, calendar). Thanks.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFYI for other users that are switching to a G1: Basically I am huge user of Outlook 2007 & the rest of the MS Office family. I have/had a T-Mobile Dash and I love it but its time to move on The 2 biggest deals breakers for me was no tethering (sp?) with my laptop and no sync for outlook (basically for calender as contacts get less updating and go directly on the phone) Tether- hopefully someone will make it work (come on, I got the internet on my Dash for 5.99 with just 2 proxy settings) Well back to the point
There are a couple of ways to get your contacts to your G1. I tried downloading the Wrike program and guess what, it does not work because I don't have Exchange Server 2007 yet maybe 90% of this site doesn't either I tried exporting my Outlook contacts into a CSV file then importing them into my Google contacts but some names did not come up properly, so that did not work.............
I tried gsyncit, google calendar sync and they always miss 20% of my entries. I have 10 years worth of important calendar entries (about 20000). And I know the reason why they miss it because there are sometimes server issues and when Google thinks your spamming, they block you. So I want to directly offline sync from my outlook. No way to directly sync from Outlook calendar? No 3rd party sync software works 100%.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Google Calendar on my desktop to sync with Outlook, strictly as a "backup" for my Outlook calendar, in case something were to happen and I needed a backup of my Outlook Calendar. I tried using Google Sync/Calendar on my Droid Incredible but had some problems and decided to go back to using HTC sync. Since that time, I have hard reset my phone but am now having problems with some appts showing up in duplicate on my Outlook calendar, My Google calendar and on my phone.
Even though I am only using HTC Sync on my phone and only using Google Calendar/Sync on my desktop, could this be the reason for these duplicates in all 3 places? Do I need to stop using Google calendar/Google sync with my Outlook to prevent this from happening further? Also, the only reason I stopped using Google Calendar for my Droid was that it seems you cannot keep more than a month or so worth of past appt's in your calendar and I need to go back at least a year for work. Does anyone else find this limitation or anything else about Google Calendar annoying and limiting?
I just bought a droid phone and now want to sync my emils from outlook to droid, but dont know how. Hope there is a way to do it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just switched from an iphone to the HTC Incredible. My iphone calendar synced with my outlook calendar. I need all the info from my outlook calendar moved onto the Incredible. I don't even need it to sync after that, but I need it all moved over. How do I do that?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought me an HTC Desire about 2 weeks ago but since then I am cut off my Desktop Outlook which I use as my main calendar on the desktop. HTC Sync that came with it flew off my system when after about a week it suddenly started to remove ALL items (from the device as well as from the desktop)! Fortunately I had a backup that was only a day old, so not much lost. Next I tried "Missing Sync" but that program lives up to its name - it's sync is still missing! Instead reproducible crashes due to SQLite exceptions - clearly some programming error. So, IS there ANY option to sync an HTC Desire / Android 2.1 phone decently with a desktop Outlook 2007? Or do I really have to revert to my previous Windows Mobile phone?
View 28 Replies View RelatedI know this has been discussed all over the internet but I'm a computer "user" only and don't particularly understand a lot of the computer terminology in these discussions. I would like some very simple straight forward answers in lay person language. I work in a company that uses Microsoft exchange and outlook. I currently have a blackberry that syncs everything wireless and seamlessly (ie., contacts, emails, tasks, calendars, notes). I would like to get a new Verizon Indredible but company does not and won't enable active sync (whatever that is). My question is is there a program that I can install directly onto my office PC myself that will "push" or otherwise wirelessly sync all of my outlook information that is currently synced on my Blackberry?

View 20 Replies View RelatedI finally got my Evo today. I have to sync it with Outlook to keep this phone and I DESPERATELY want to keep this phone over my Blackberry. Syncing over the air via Google is out of the question because Google taints my work data is several ways. Not to mention that notes and tasks aren't supported by the Google OTA sync.I tried CompanionLink but it does not work with my Outlook system. It hangs up halfway through, and the troubleshooting says that it is likely a "corrupt" record in my calendar. "Calendar Record 22" whatever the f*ck that is referencing in Outlook.SO. Do I have any other options for syncing my memos, contacts, and notes from Outlook to the phone? Please say yes.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI'm a developer writing an application to sync Outlook 2007 contacts with GMail. These are regular local-PST contacts, not Exchange, and yes, for now I'm exclusively focused on Outlook 2007 since that's what I have available. I may look at older versions (which I own) if this one works out. Anyway, I've tried most (all?) of the sync apps and didn't enjoy the experience. I've done the export/import thing and consider that a temporary fix. So I decided to do something about it myself.
The application I have today runs in the background and periodically pulls contact data from both systems. It can identify matches using a variety of prioritized criteria, and it has a way to systematically decide what data needs to be updated in each contact list. It can write changes to both sides. So it's largely done -- except for some decisions about that sync methodology.
The tricky thing about sync is that the GMail and Outlook contact data fields are totally different.
For example, GMail allows unlimited e-mail contacts which are tagged as Home, Work, and Other. By contrast, Outlook only supports three e-mail addresses, and they're not tagged at all. What should a sync app do if the GMail account has four addresses, but only three Outlook slots to store them?
A different example: GMail also supports unlimited phone numbers, also tagged with about six categories. On the other hand, Outlook can handle sixteen phone numbers, each with a fixed category. Some are a bit odd, like Radio Telephone. What should the sync app do if the GMail account has three Work numbers? Outlook only has Business 1 and Business 2...
Granted, these are what programmers call "edge cases" -- they won't apply to most users. But I'm hoping to find some people with large, complex Outlook address books who will weigh in with opinions about how they'd like problem cases handled.
Here is a comparison of the contact data in each system (exlcuding largely similar fields, and excluding the vast array of Outlook fields that simply have no GMail equivalent)--
E-mail Addresses:
GMail: Unlimited, tagged as Home, Work, Other
Outlook: 3, not tagged at all
Phone Numbers:
GMail: Unlimited, tagged as Home, Work, Mobile, Work Fax, Home Fax, Pager, Other
Outlook: 16, one each of Primary, Mobile, Car, Home, Home 2, Business, Business 2, Assistant, Callback, Company, Business Fax, Home Fax, Pager, Other, Radio Telephone, TTY/TDD
Postal Addresses:
GMail: Unlimited, tagged as Home, Work, Other
Outlook: 4, one each of Home, Mailing, Business, Other
IM Addresses:
GMail: Unlimited, tagged as GoogleTalk, AIM, Yahoo, Skype, QQ, MSN, ICQ, Jabber
Outlook: 1, untagged (probably should equate to MSN, but...?)
Generic "Other" Field:
GMail: Unlimited, tagged as Home, Work, Other
Outlook: No direct equivalent
Web Address:
GMail: No direct equivalent
Outlook: 1, not tagged
The contact name is a special case. GMail does a poor job importing Outlook contacts since it leaves the name blank on business-only contacts. I guess Google devs only talk to their friends. The app I've written will fix your imported list in GMail by substituting the company name if the name is missing. Lots of little stuff like that is easy to do. It's the "unlimited" lists in GMail and the many places where there isn't a direct correlation that are creating questions in my mind.
When something doesn't quite match up should the app simply not do anything? Or would you prefer a partially successful sync? What about some sort of manual conflict resolution? What other options would you like to see in a sync app? (Limited to sync activity and contacts -- I don't plan to mess with ToDo lists, calendars or anything outside of contacts.)
I just synchronized my new phone with my local Outlook-calendar (no Exchange) by using Samsung Kies. My PC OS is Windows 7.
I don't know, if this is a specific problem to Kies or a general Android-issue: All the past calendar entries (for a couple of years) have been synchronized too. I think, this is not really necessary.
And secondly, my mobile-calendar showed an automaticly generated entry every Monday with the information of the week-number until December 2011.
I am after a bit of advice, I have numerous outlook contacts that are made up of maybe 4 or 5 words all starting with the same first word, since syncing my contacts it appears the first and last word are the only ones that have synced, missing out all the words inbetween making it near impossible to know what each one is. Has anyone any ideas on how to fix this issue.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am looking for an application that will link with Outlook. I synch with my exchange server for mail, contact, and calendar. But I have gobs of outlook notes that I want to use on my Sprint Hero. MyLink Access (Advanced) is about the only one that I have found, but their developers have not released anything other than the free version. They told me the advanced would be released before Christmas. I know it is not Christmas yet, but I just don't see that in the future. I would settle for an application that I could manage on my desktop so that I could retype all the notes and then have the desktop synch with the phone ..

Is there a proper sync suite out there? I've purchased Mark/Space's Missing Sync - it's not working at all. The new HTC Sync 3.0 for 2.2 Android is not working either.
